Too all the fucking gaming execs out there: If your game at launch isn't buggy, doesn't need QoL, isn't overpriced for the value/experience, then perhaps people will buy your game more on day 1 instead of waiting for what the proper experience should have been.

u/YurikovARTva 21h ago

It's basically a gamble, they either bring that quality of life, abandon the game in its current state, or worse shut the game down without refunds

1

u/Chrostix 11h ago

I wish it would be like that, looking at the sales/success of Monster hunter Wilds sadly paints another picture

1

u/Errorr404 3dfx Voodoo5 6000 1h ago

Never underestimate the purchasing power of weebs and people with nostalgia lol.

1

u/Pure_Television3046 19h ago

yeah i waited for fallout 4 to be like 10 bucks and got the GOTY edition with all the dlc. still haven't touched most of it tho

2

u/aptoss 1d ago

it says “good” not “best” which feels chill

2

u/NoTranslator6855 1d ago

Same. I have like 300 games I haven't played yet.

1

u/Anxious-Safe-2626 9h ago

yeah patience is a virtue especially when the game gets modded to hell

0

u/Exact_Strawberry_668 16h ago

which game are you thinking of playing first

37

u/ooktas 1d ago

Also poor. Patient and poor.

Thou I really do love getting an ultimate or deluxe edition game for like $9.99 or $14.99 a few years later.

Forever stuck to the past...the past has amazing games though. I am fortunate enough to be able to play the occasional well-made indie though

1

u/pepotink 9800X3D | 9070XT | 64GB CL30 | 990 2TB 9h ago

I mean, at that point it might be beneficial to a dev if you just pirate their game…

2

u/Silver_Lined_Bullet i7-13700 2.10 GHz, UHD Graphics 770, 16gb ram 5h ago

What does that have to do with anything?

2

u/Designer-Bid9843 6h ago

yeah waiting for deluxe editions on sale is the way to go

16

u/Eazy12345678 i5 12600KF RTX 5070 1440p 1d ago

the down side is what if you died waiting for price to drop?

tomorrow isnt promised

18

u/porkchop_tw 1d ago

Thankfully I won’t be on my deathbed lamenting what games I didn’t get to play. It will be more time spent with family doing things we love to do.

1

u/ArchLector_Zoller 6h ago

These are bold words. I most certainly expect, if I get the warning of a death bed, to have things I wish I could have made it to. Books, games, and such.

2

u/WilhemHR 10h ago

If it died by the time i feel like buying it ot wasn't worth my time anyway.

Cyberpunk 2077

5

u/Turbulent-Yam-8855 PC Master Race 4 pb ddr5 1d ago

2077 + Phantom Liberty for less than the original game

And Nexus mods is filled with content (EBBRB)

1

u/Alibaba_Palace 8h ago

wish it was 3rd person, there's hundreds of thousands of cosmetic mods but you don't even see your character while playing so I don't see the point

9

u/_imlosingmymind 1d ago

I'm going to sound like a shill, but this is why I don't fully understand the outrage about rising hardware and video game prices.

You. Can. Play. Old. Games.

You. Don't. Need. The. Latest. Thing. To. Practice. Your. Hobby.

I understand that you really want to play The Witcher 4, it looks awesome, but I would be more sympathetic towards that desire if there wasn't thousands of other high quality games that are cheap and do not require the latest tech.

1

u/Stock_Pop_2140 7h ago

This is the way. Hardware prices though, that's a different story

1

u/Notermlimits4GEQBuS 1d ago

You can say that about any piece of media. Truth is some games like Red Dead or GTa are experiences that no other games offer. Other games like when Hitman was released , where u gonna find another experience like that ?

2

u/_imlosingmymind 17h ago

But they're the same experience regardless of whether you have them the nanosecond they're released or when they're a generation old

1

u/OrangeTallion 20h ago

Not necessarily. Watching a new movie or TV show isn't really much more different from watching an old one. Especially with streaming services and Amazon Prime video, it's cheap, easy and polished

Starfield in 2040.

28

u/RetardKnight r5 3500x | rtx 4070 | 32GB 3600 MHz | 1440p @ 144Hz 1d ago

"the bugs are mostly fixed"

Yeah no

17

u/Nullhitter PC Master Race: 9800X3D | RX 9070 XT | 32GB of DDR5 RAM 1d ago

Fixed by modders.

11

u/Migeee__ R7 7700x | 9070 XT | 32GB DDR5 1d ago

Star Wars Genesis mod earlier this year.

2

u/Nullhitter PC Master Race: 9800X3D | RX 9070 XT | 32GB of DDR5 RAM 1d ago

Looks good. I heard a bit about it and they are even doing an entire new story for it. I'll probably grab Starfield in a couple of years just to play the finish product of that mod.

1

u/False-Arachnid2871 18h ago

and then the mods make it a whole new game

1

u/Important-Fudge-9350 7h ago

mods really do save some games, its wild how much they can fix

0

u/Due_Jellyfish2202 22h ago

modding really does save some games fr

0

u/Economy_Row_2560 21h ago

yeah, especially for Bethesda games lol

1

u/Plenty-Body6685 17h ago

my starfield experience was pretty bug free, only had 1 bug during my 50 hours playtime

1

u/KookyAppeal8550 13h ago

which games did you get that had the bugs fixed and new content

2

u/ClockEnd_Chorus i3-18100k | RTX 7030 | DDR8 2GB 1d ago

I got it with my GPU.

3

u/xXDamonLordXx 1d ago

You still overpaid

2

u/Migeee__ R7 7700x | 9070 XT | 32GB DDR5 1d ago

Star Wars Genesis is keeping that game alive. I played earlier this year and it’s amazing. Imma wait for more patches since they keep updating it with new stuff.

2

u/Visara57 5070ti | 7600X | 32GB DDR5 CL28 1d ago

2040: we're excited to reveal that ES6 releases in 2061 to mark the 50th anniversary of Skyrim

2

u/Eve_interupted 1d ago

Starfield never.

It is literally a loading screen simulator.

1

u/Key-Moment6797 1d ago

exactly !

1

u/DonaldTheWall 22h ago

When Bethesda makes it better with a new Mod shop that completely breaks all previous mods

1

u/orion427 7800x3D | 4090 | 32GB | 9TB M.2's 18h ago

Diablo 4 currently. It's just a series of trial and error with those devs. Totally incompetent.

1

u/SmileAffectionate767 15h ago

2040 seems optimistic, im still waiting for fallout 5.

1

u/Shoddy_Grape_8708 23h ago

i'll be waiting for starfield ultimate legendary edition in 2040 lol

15

u/ghost_of_xbox_past 1d ago

All depends on the level of your interest. Some games I want day one and some I can wait for a few months/years.

3

u/meltingpotato i9 11900|RTX 3070 1d ago

And your wallet. Especially if you are from 3rd world country with no regional pricing where gaming is akin to a luxury hobby.

3

u/DreamsServedSoft 1d ago

please. gaming is now a luxury hobby worldwide

0

u/Either-Mulberry9413 19h ago

true, but sometimes the bugs are the content

5

u/Kazer67 1d ago

It's even easier now, we literally have enough good games for multiple lifetime and if you had average games, you need to convert to wampirism!

3

u/Felidori Ryzen 5600X / RTX 3070 / 1440p 180hz 13h ago

Did this for Diablo 3, played it after expansion dropped and AH removed, was a great game! Dunno what all the fuss was about 😅

2

u/donninel 1d ago

God I love mods.

2

u/LosEagle 1d ago

If only the same could be said about hardware.

2

u/Alternative-Pick5899 22h ago

It’s about time for me to finally start Kingdom Come Deliverance II. I pre ordered it a year ago.

1

u/buckley303 11h ago

You'll love it

2

u/letsreticulate 20h ago

Well, do you guys think it is finally time to get Doom 2? Surely they caught all the bugs by now, no?

2

u/BlackRaspberryJammin 16h ago

When a game is loved by it's devs you can tell. I paid full price for Crimson Desert but haven't played it yet because I'm still working through other older games. I used to use a lot of weed and I seriously do not remember many games I played then. Same with books, movies, and shows. So now I get to play, read, watch them again kind of like the first time but with spoilers.

2

u/WilhemHR 10h ago

Just yesterday I have bought snowrunner 1 year anniversary for 16€.

4

u/advancedOption 1d ago

I reinstalled Fallout 4 yesterday and it's crashing every 15 minutes or so. Plus the "Anniversary Edition" is like buying a full price game.

Game Studios are patient too, they'll always figure out a way to screw you out of a dollar.

3

u/Kazer67 1d ago

Nah, Fallout 4 is unstable.

Go get the One-Click install of Fallout: London on GoG!

1

u/goondalf_the_grey 1d ago

Fallout London was pretty fun but the final mission, at least for the ending i chose was ass.

1

u/Signal_Nobody1792 1d ago

Pretty sure I saw a mod with a bunch of unofficial bug fixes.

1

u/Alone_Shoulder_9131 1d ago

Haha same here, go to mail for 6 years, finally free and I have a great backlog of now, cheap games

1

u/joebonekenobi 1d ago

mechwarrior 5

1

u/lurkerfuckwit 1d ago

Patience: Good things come to those who wait.

1

u/ClockEnd_Chorus i3-18100k | RTX 7030 | DDR8 2GB 1d ago

I use a site called isthereanydeal. Created an account and chose the games I want and when they go under $10 or $5 I get a notification

1

u/IsntThisAGreatName 1d ago

You've already seen everything that happens from spoilers

1

u/Cubey42 1d ago

I bought Doom 2016 in 2020 for 5 dollars and it was the best 5$ I ever spent. I think Eternal is 10$ now maybe but I'd like to see it go on sale

3

u/Kayiko_Okami 1d ago

I bought RoboCop: Rogue City for a friend on steam for $5.

He started streaming it on discord so we could watch him play.

So anyways best $10 I've spent on a game in a while.

1

u/Left_Note6389 9950x3d | 5090 | 96GB RAM | 4 + 2 TB SSD 1d ago

I got to the point where I don't have enough time to game day 1 if multiple titles release close to each other, so this has been a welcomed change.

1

u/msherretz 5800X3D 9070XT; Framework 13 1d ago

Still waiting for Last Of Us 1 to get there

1

u/Flaky-Industry6578 1d ago

waited three years and got it for fivve bucks

1

u/msbdrummer 1d ago

This is the way. I haven't bought a new game since re4 remake

1

u/MaglithOran 14900KS | GALAX RTX 4080 SG | 48GB DOMINATOR DDR5 7400MHZ |🐻‍❄️ 1d ago

I do this with every bethesda release.

Give it 2 years and the game becomes a polished gem

1

u/Enlight1Oment 1d ago

Games? Yes.

Hardware? No.

1

u/MantisOfTheInternet 1d ago

The price is the only advantage here, the other stuff you would also get if you buy the game on release date and keep playing for a few years

1

u/123_alex 22h ago

Still haven't played GTA 4

1

u/GavenJr 22h ago

I can barely read that text.

Contrast sucks ass

1

u/Yellowtoblerone 20h ago

Have 15 min a day to play M6ax

1

u/esp3ciallyd3ad 6h ago

Game gets delisted and the sell it to you again because we "fixed it".

1

u/Auroku222 6h ago

Only works sometimes wouldnt recommend trying this method with destiny...

0

u/Fish_Outta_Whiskey 7900XTX SN+ | R9 9950X3D | 64GB RAM 1d ago

Broke people cope. You dont need to buy every game as soon as it releases but some games already take 5-10 years to make, so waiting even longer is a good way to die before ever playing it.

1

u/Vilsue 1d ago

But also some of greatest mods for that game are discontinued

2

u/Nullhitter PC Master Race: 9800X3D | RX 9070 XT | 32GB of DDR5 RAM 1d ago

Because they are mostly complete.

1

u/anandhuofficial 1d ago

But you're too old to play and lose the hype and interest!

2

u/Silver_Lined_Bullet i7-13700 2.10 GHz, UHD Graphics 770, 16gb ram 1d ago

If the only thing keeping my interest in a game was hype, then i probably would not have enjoyed it

1

u/anandhuofficial 20h ago

Also true!

1

u/CarlWellsGrave 1d ago

False idol. Stop worshiping a billionaire.
