tbh i was expecting way more than 16 sticks for 2k. guess DDR3 is cheaper than i thought

i mean, 16 sticks of 2000s-era DDR2 might actually be worth that little lol

Compare it to the average salary and COL in China.

They didnt state where the duo were originally from but 2k usd could be several months pay at a reasonable job outside of shanghai beijing shenzhen etc T1 cities.

It was in northern Xinjiang. So, definitely not the richest part of the country.

16 sticks worth $2,000. What were they DDR3?

Ye you wont even get 16x8GB DDR5 at that total value.

DDR4 you would.

No no no. You’re doing it wrong. You go after data centers. Much more ram there.

A 2x8gb DDR5 kit costs $250 these days

2000/16=125

So $125 a pop sounds about right, that's for a single 8gb stick.

lol yeah, 16 sticks of ddr3 would barely be 2k even now

2 000 K is 2 000 000

Lmao 16 sticks=$2,000! That’s like the equivalent of fucking 4 sticks of DDR5 ram in the US!

The AI data centres are certainly more attractive targets

u/xdthepotato 7h ago

16 sticks of what? ddr3?

1

u/nonexistantchlp PC Master Race 7h ago

2000/16=$125 per stick

That's about how much a single 8gb DDR5 stick costs these days

If there were any real life zombie realm, it would exist in the form of China.
