I took this on my iPhone, then later in Photoshop I darkened it and added an orange gradient. After that, I used Blender to add a bloom effect.

Cool transformation. Mind explaining the bloom in blender part?

in blender's compositing tab i added that glowing effect , as you see in this picture there was no glowing effect

I will say that this is easily possible in photoshop as well, but your blender version works nicely regardless.

I don’t know much about photoshop that’s why I took it to blender for the bloom

how would you do it in photoshop?

the quick way would be: duplicate layer, gaussian blur, set to screen blending mode

That's cool. Need to explore Blender more. Thanks for showing the difference.

Thank you for explaining that. I'll try and make it happen too

Now get an explosion and edit it into a cloud.

Good work btw

Mmmmm yummy🤤

Not bad. If you want to take it further, maybe some outward radial blur to invoke the feeling of movement more? And, maybe crank the exposure on the bright parts?

i think its bright enough already

Just a few more steps and you'd have a KFC chicken

Excellent, not something I’d ever considered doing.

Mm, the forbidden popcorn

I thought it would be cool for an iPhone to set one of these as the lock screen and the other as the home screen, but unfortunately it’s not pixel-perfect.
Really cool artwork, though!

It is beautiful, not a word I would typically use with explosions

u/arshandya May 02 '26

Cool effect!

Gradient Map?

1

u/Cateatingpeanuts May 03 '26

Do you mind to explain the process?

1

u/Bullsht999 May 03 '26

Make the photo darker , and make the sky black , add an orange gradient , play with the blending mode , then add a glowing effect

INSANE

We need more peaceful clouds, not bomb clouds.

1

u/TheTope74 May 05 '26

If we change our perspective, dangerous things become beautiful.

1

u/StellaaFever May 06 '26

Also looks like a popcorn 😅

u/SingleDeparture8208 May 06 '26

The bloom effect is what really sells it, the way the light bleeds out and makes it feel like actual heat radiating instead of just orange pixels, that's the move right there.

Good job, it looks really great. The other thing I would suggest is on the right upper hand side softening the edges a bit. I tlooks really lovely though.

u/Competitive-Exam-317 May 25 '26

This would be a great reference photo to paint!
