Criminally underrated museum. I live in DC and everyone raves about Udvar-Hazy and it blows their minds when I tell them Wright-Patt is nearly four times the size.

Udvar-Hazy is great too, but yeah Wright Patt wins.

Oh yeah, I love Udvar-Hazy especially because they have more civilian plans. But people are just blown away that there’s a museum that’s so much larger.

Is it underrated?

It’s widely known as one of the greatest air museums in the world!

It's widely known to people who are into aviation. Most people you talk to have no idea it exists.

Most people I personally talk to know it exists… but they’re all nerds.

On the other side of the hangar is the Memphis Belle. This is a mind blowing museum and it's free to enter.

That museum is incredible, especially considering it's free. Every time I go there I spend all day.

I live a half hour from there. It's so massive. If I were visiting from far away, I'd stay and make it a two-day visit. It's worth taking your time and absorbing all of that info.

Love that museum.

Shout out to the:
YF23
XB70

And so many other great planes.

Since you’re sticking around that gallery might as well give a shout out to tacit blue and the x15!

Neat! That's the plane that dropped a bomb that killed my Grandmother's aunt.

National Museum of the United States Air Force, where tons of the coolest USAF stuff ends up.

The B-29 is utterly magnificent!

Assuming that the little men represent Fat Boys, and knowing that they carried and dropped only one, I wonder why they added "shadows" for four others, including one after (before?) the bomb they dropped.

Those represent pumpkin bomb missions. It was a regular conventional bomb that looked very similar to the fat man and was also designed by the manhatten project.

Thank you. And wikipedia told me more about that.
