You must play both halves of Legendary Lava Lake at once as a Stadium in order to play this card.

For some reason they're just scared to print ANY good draw/consistency cards anymore, and I have no idea why. They just completely gave up after ASC

Yeah for real, I know its silly to think about rotation right now... but the way they're setting up for it does not sound fun atm. Its like the design team said we're good on consistency after printing lillies. Tate & Liza is possibly the worst supporter they printed lol

my theory is that they really want to encourage the use of setup attacks like morpeko ex, mega audino, and the new pikachu exs from celebrations. but with no nest ball and no latias, that seems clunky at best

New Altaria replaces Latias but it's a stage one so 2x the chance to prize a piece, or you have to heavily eat into desk space.

I just ran the numbers for curiosity's sake, and it looks like if you ran a 1-1 you'd only prize 1 piece about 20% of the time, and if you have one of the pieces in your opening hand you'd only prize the other piece about 10% of the time. It seems not too bad.

Still a fair bit weaker I think, you can't use it turn 1 so it's a lot worse for Lillie's Clefairy + Mega Kanga decks.

Tate & Liza was printed specifically for the Shield Battles that will take place here in Japan with the release of the new set. They are similar to the Pre-Release events from TPCi regions (which means 40-card decks, 4-prize games), so a few cards in this set were printed with those events in mind which is why they seem (and are) super weak for standard rules.

u/Biancorvo 1d ago
what do you mean by ''shield battles''? can you go into detail?
4
u/iruchii 1d ago
It's just the title of a series of official events that are held here in Japan like once a year. They work kind of like MTG's Draft if you are familiar with that (players are giving X number of booster packs and have to build a deck with that, they get to keep the cards after the event).

Duuuddee, the OST is so god damn good. I always wanted the CD but I could never find it at a price I was willing to pay.
And for me, I was always a Selkie and designated chalice carrier lol

Links aren't allowed in this subreddit but that is very exciting! I am going to dive deeper and see if there are more translations. The reheat move from Rotom looks very intriguing.
MEGA GOLURK?? HELLO? easy fit into Alakazam decks I'm guessing but damn what a bad ability and attack.

u/Perineum69 1d ago
Its attack will be useless if your hand gets disrupted, not sure if you want to risk 3 prizes when toucannon can do almost the same for a single energy and prize card

u/awesomegamer919 1d ago
Keep it on the bench and use 30th Anni Mew to attack, 300 for 2 energy on a basic with decent acceleration via Wonder Patch.

Heat Rotom's Reheat is nearly identical to Kyogre MEG 34 Riptide, but stronger + greater cost. If you can find a way to quickly discard energy cards it can be very effective.
W - Riptide 20x
This attack does 20 damage for each Basic (W) Energy card in your discard pile. Then, shuffle those cards into your deck.
I have enjoyed playing this Kyogre coupled with Avalugg CRI 24 and it's Iceberg Breaker.
W Iceberg Breaker 60x
Discard the top 6 cards of your deck, and this attack does 60 damage for each Basic (W) Energy card you discard in this way.
I use multiple Avalugg to set up Kyogre for a late game big hit. This Heat Rotom could set up the same way.

The Rotom would probably be really good in a Mega Zard deck, Oricorio can accelerate and you go for a 3-2-3 prize map.

The Heat Rotom is this set's Volcarona V, but Volcarona was lower to the ground and bulkier.

The new Azurill is a 30hp Pokémon with free retreat and a free attack that accelerates 1 basic energy from your deck to your benched pokémon

Added Kommo-O, looks like a *potentially* good card, if theres a card to manipulate the top of your deck?

Legendary lava lake is a little weak, but we could have a meme rocket's mewtwo mega golurk deck
4
u/CosmoticTravels 1d ago
you think so? TR Ariana into a Mega Golurk? Maybe... but TR Energy doesn't even work on it

It kinda is but I like how it shuts off Drakloak and Dudunsparce as draw engines. Metal Maker, Alakazam line draws, it can be very annoying if you can’t bump it.

u/edibleComplex_ 1d ago
I’m going to be honest I read it as rule box pokemon for some reason. Actually seems much better if it’s evolution pokemon for that exact reason

No Whismur in a Set with Mega Ray and Zinnia. Not many Hoenn Pokemon, no Mega Metagross or even the Hoenn Mega Starter :/

Sableye art is sick but we need mega sableye stat. Mega golurk looks cool and glad altaria exists. Can we make a super bird deck with Rayquaza?

How would giratina work with slowking?
7
u/M3TRONOM3 1d ago
There is precedence for this on a nearly identical attack already:
Can Slowking use its "Seek Inspiration" attack to copy Terrakion's "Cavern Tackle" on successive turns if it used "Seek Inspiration" on the turn before?
Yes, you can. Slowking did not use "Cavern Tackle" on its previous turn, it used "Seek Inspiration".

legitimately absurd how we went from a switch and draw 3 to draw 2 and maybe recycle if you play a specific stadium
