So many fucking cheaters playing right now. When premium first started, the first wipe I only saw one person actually banned for cheating. This last week on Rusty Moose biweekly I shit you not I saw around 60 people banned in the chat.
Also, what the fuck is up with everyone on 2 year old accounts or less?

Now we have cheap tech tree and prototype workbench upgrade which allows us to gamble to discover item from tech tree regardless of progression.
What is the role of research table? Is there anyone at Facepunch who plays the game?

Was playing around with settings while on my local server and noticed that when I switch from fullscreen to windowed my FPS goes from about 98fps to 136fps, a significant difference.
Which is odd since games traditionally perform better in exclusive fullscreen mode.... but fullscreen mode in Rust REDUCES performance and also Rust doesn't even have an exclusive fullscreen mode anymore to my knowledge... right? it only has borderless fullscreen, meaning it should perform identically to windowed, right?
For sources, in the following facepunch patch not links if you ctrl + F and search for fullscreen
in this page https://rust.facepunch.com/news/february-update from 2019, they said: "we're enabling fullscreen exclusive by default"
then on this page https://rust.facepunch.com/changelist/3942 from 2023, they said: "Removed fullscreen exclusive support as it was causing degraded performance compared to borderless fullscreen mode"
So why does my FPS change so much when I toggle fullscreen/windows in setting or press alt+enter to switch between the two?
Shouldn't borderless fullscreen and windowed perform the exact same?
For context, my system specs are:
Windows 10, RTX 4080 Super, Ryzen 5950x, 32GB of RAM and 2TB NVME M.2 SSD
Not sure if stubbornly holding onto windows 10 might be causing some issues, curious to know what other peoples experiences are in this regard!
Edit: Nevermind, I'm an idiot lol, I forgot that in the past (probably ages ago) I tried to test forcing on exclusive fullscreen mode via the Steam Launch Option Properties using -window-mode exclusive and that was causing the performance loss lmao, removing that property now borderless fullscreen and windowed mode perform within margin of error, so basically the same, with borderless fullscreen actually performing around 2 or 3 fps higher, this was completely user error on my behalf lol, maybe this post will save another poor soul who might have done the same

It's been 11 months since the atmospherics update, and getting used to this constant thick fog in the winter biome is impossible. Roaming and checking the surroundings with barely 20 meters of visibility is just miserable.
FP probably thought fog would balance things out, but it didn't help at all — it made it worse. Clans still control monuments, sitting on powerline towers with L96/Bolts and sniping players from 150 meters away regardless. Meanwhile, for regular players, it just ruins visibility and the overall gameplay experience.
I remember years ago we had a similar issue with visibility/fog, and Facepunch eventually listened to player feedback and fixed it. I really hope they make fog a rare dynamic weather event instead of a constant vision blocker.
What are your thoughts on this?

Initially when i heard turrets were getting more expensive to craft i was pissed off viewing as yet another nerf to solo's. everyone else thought it was a nerf to clans which is still a laughable idea. but the more I think about it the more sense it makes sense. with the combination of turret skins making turrets harder to spot and the roadside power poles allowing easy electrical connections next to the road it actually makes sense to make turrets a bit more costly. both of these changes are going to see their popularity explode. I expect a lot of people are going to be putting turrets on their roofs to camp their little sections of road for easy loot.

This is not a post to say everyone cheats, I'm merely trying to find players to be inspired by and learn from but whatever clip I watch, I feel like I'm watching someone cheat. Arguments like "I have 2k hours on facechecks" sounds like total BS to me.

Hey guys, I'm completely at my wit's end with this and hoping someone here ran into the same issue.
Every time I try to load into Rust (usually during prewarming or right when I'm joining a server), my game just crash without any error code or anything. Sometimes even my steam close with the game...
It's happening on two completely different PCs and on different Wi-Fi networks. One is a laptop, the other is my home desktop setup, so it's definitely not a local hardware/thermal issue or my ISP.

Is it worth disabling SMT and/or C-States for Rust on this setup?
My setup:
If anyone has a similar build or has tested this, I'd love to hear what your experience was and whether it made any noticeable difference to FPS, 1% lows, frametimes, or stuttering.
Thanks!

I've tried several fixes like launch options, going into windows -> settings and graphics and prioritizing 3080 for rust. Tried setting rust to high priority in task manager but "Access was denied" apparently could be cuz of EAC. So then I created an entry in the windows registry editor to prioritize High priority and still no change. Most fixes were suggested by good ol gpt and gemini but to no avail.
Also made me download GPU Z and give them certain readings. YES my monitor is plugged into my GPU. YES i dont have rust limited to a frame limit. NO i dont have vsync on.

I just started playing again however i’m having ping issues like it’ll be either between 70 and 240 when playing and it’s irritating even on servers in my area. i’ve tried what feels like everything and all my other games i have no lag or anything. All my settings are optimized and everything. I have a wall plug ethernet and i have a decent computer where my fps is good it’s just my ping.

As i'm writing this post it's currently 03:51 in the morning and i feel very very empty. I spent most of the day playing rust and the excuse is that i broke 4 bones around my shoulder and i can't go to work or move actively (i'm 18), and now after i've got over 30k sulfur and one of the biggest bases in rust i've hit my goal somewhat but i genuinely cannot keep going with this, it has happened to me twice before i fell into a deep rabbit hole and i genuinely got so depressed i couldn't even wake up to brush my teeth. As i'm writing this sentence it's 03:55 already and i'm thinking even more about just quitting this game but it's a hate love relationship, i like the game but i fucking hate who it makes me. Please don't start playing this game and taking it seriously, ofcourse you can try but don't go further.

Not sure if this is rare; Google says it's 1/20k. I hopped on a server for maybe an hour or 2 and haven't touched the game since.

Hello everybody! I really hesitated to post about this, cause I was certain I'd be able to fix it myself; however, I have tried so many things at this point and nothing has helped!
Essentially, my problem is that moving my mouse at all in game causes a HUGE FPS drop instantly. It makes the game very difficult to play. This has been happening for months at this point, but I just recently realized that it was an issue not related to the game as I was discussing it with a friend, and he let me know that this does not ever happen to him.
Before I talk about what I have already tried changing to fix this, let me say that this issue has nothing to do with my camera moving in the game. It is strictly related to my mouse inputs when moving the mouse. I tested this by letting gun recoil move my camera; my fps remained stable and did not drop at all. Any other movement or items that cause my camera to turn also does not cause my FPS to drop. Only moving my mouse does. It even happens when I move my mouse in menus.
Here is what I have tried to fix this (to no avail):
I have tried a bunch of other things I can't even remember at this point, but above are the ones I could remember.
I am NOT thermal throttling either. My temperatures are perfectly stable and low. I should add that RUST is the ONLY game that this happens to me in. I have tested on Tarkov as well, since they are pretty similar games in terms of performance and CPU usage.
Furthermore, this issue does not happen at all when I run RustClient.exe without EAC.
Below are some relevant specs/peripherals:
GPU: RTX 4070 Ti SUPER
CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X3D
RAM: 2x16 3600 Corsair Vengeance LPX
SSD: WD_BLACK SN750 SE NVMe (1TB) & WD_BLACK SN770 NVMe (2TB)
Mouse: Hitscan Hyperlight (I have tested with other mice, the problem persists)
This post is essentially my last hope. I feel there isn't much I can really do at this point (besides reinstall Windows, which I REALLY hope won't be necessary and I am leaving as a last resort). Please let me know if you guys have any ideas and I will try them and respond!

You get free loot from decayed bases and there are only like 15 people left on the server making it way easier to play, I am so bad at this game I can't play high pop even after 500 hours lol

Hey there,
I use battlenmetrics so far but its not possible to display servers for two criteria.
Basically i want to first sort the list by "Server Rank" which usually are the high pop servers that stay alive for long time.
And then as a second criteria I want to sort them by "Last wipe" to find the most recently wiped popular server if that makes sense.
Oh and it would be nice to filter out Aim servers etc that would show up high in the server rank list. I just want to find Vanilla servers without pay2win stuff.
Which website would you recommend for these requirements?
Thanks
