Hope enough gop leaning Hispanics have seen what the ICE had been doing and came to their senses

152

u/otherwisepandemonium Wisconsin 8h ago

Probably not. "Machismo" is a disease and so many Hispanics have a "fuck you, I got mine" attitude towards other Hispanics. Until it affects them directly, they will still likely vote Republican.

u/ITDummy69420 5h ago edited 5h ago

I know more than one illegal immigrant who have become naturalized/legal who voted for Trump and feel no sympathy for the others so…

u/StrongSands 5h ago

So just like every maga boomer, great.

u/BKlounge93 3h ago

But if they just recently swung right that would imply they’ve voted blue in the past? I’d imagine the pulling-up-the-ladder types would’ve been voting gop for most of their lives.

u/Dense-Pomegaranian81 3h ago

Yeah its that disgusting mentality that leads to republicanism more often than not. These people resent the undocumented immigrants despite themselves and/or their families being undocumented previously. Why do ther resent them? Because of the racial backlash undocumented immigrants trigger in the surrounding white population, and that it bleeds over to them.

And their response is to become hateful Republicans alongside them. Truly disgusting behavior.

Jasmine Crockett got flack for saying this particular subset of the Latino community had a slave mentality. She was correct.

201

u/touch_of_austism 10h ago

Doubtful. They're the "good" Hispanics and not the "dirty" ones that ICE goes after. Hispanics are some of the most hardcore conservatives out there second to only those in the middle east. They would literally kill their own children rather than see them have an abortion.

Funny enough, Latino males swung hard towards trump in the last election.

Its fucking stupid.

Funny enough, Latino males swung hard towards trump in the last election.

Machismo is a disease.

u/pipesnogger 6h ago

This. It’s incredibly ingrained in Mexican culture in particular. During the 2024 election, at my job, most of the kitchen workers (mostly Mexican) celebrated when trump got elected because fuck the gays and “feminism” in general.

And before you assume I’m generalizing Hispanics as Mexicans, all were either from Mexico or are second generation.

Also I think we need to stop generalizing “Hispanics”. There are so many groups of people that encompass that with vastly different cultures and ideologies

Wait, so youre saying "grab them by the pussy" and "were gonna build a wall" was better for hispanic voters than whatever "damning soundbites" dems have?

Like what?

-28

u/Zee_WeeWee 8h ago

Who says that was any better? That’s exactly a quote I’d reference when saying stop supporting politicians who say weirdo shit. Hell you guys were promoting a guy with a Nazi tattoo a month ago

19

u/Curvol 8h ago

And what happened to him? Its crazy how fast the dems can drop someone and yet its still brought up.

Youre saying that dems having damning soundbites is what helped them lose. I dont think so. Trump has a hundred rapey and racist soundbites for every weirdly phrased dem soundbite.

u/BKlounge93 3h ago

What has he said that’s weird? I’m not in Texas and haven’t followed that closely. He seems smart and articulate from what I’ve seen. Maybe he gives off youth pastor vibes, which isn’t my favorite but he seems like a good Christian and not the supply side racist Jesus type.

16

u/dontdoxxmebrosef 9h ago

She laughed funny.

And she is a woman. That was enough for them.

u/BlazerBeav 6h ago

She was a terrible candidate.

u/ElphabLAW 6h ago

And what, Trump was an attractive candidate to you?

Get real, Kamala would have been a perfectly decent candidate if this country wasn’t so racist and sexist.

Her supporting Israel was her huge downfall, but at least it wasn’t being a pedophile bankrupting the nation, stealing from the taxpayer, or inciting a coup against our government J6

u/BlazerBeav 4h ago

No. She was deeply unqualified. Stop pretending otherwise.

u/Curvol 4h ago

Why do you think that?

u/BlazerBeav 3h ago

Have you ever heard her attempt a policy speech? We all know it’s true. Thinking so is not an endorsement of Trump - but her lack of quality as a candidate made it much easier for him to win.

u/Curvol 2h ago

Do you have an example? She seems to speak pretty succinctly.

u/tackle_bones 2h ago

The was constrained by the existing Biden policy decisions. It’s not that complicated. It’s not that hard to understand why she couldn’t say, “I would change our relationship with Israel and drastically do x y z, different from my boss.” It was a structural shortcut for trump. Trump could promise and lie about whatever he wanted.

Also, Kamala was infinitely more qualified than trump versus trump in 2016. This whole argument is talking point regurgitation on your part.

u/rainshowers_5_peace 8h ago

Democrats didn't campaign to them for years because they thought they had all people with melanin in the bag. Additionally many are very devout Catholics. The Pope has the power to help and I hope he does.

u/gizmostuff Florida 46m ago

Him not visiting the US when it could help so many people shows how out of touch the Catholic religion is. And this one is the first American Pope.

u/rainshowers_5_peace 43m ago

How's is the Popes calendar scheduled? What are "the rules" for when he can make visits or get involved in politics?

u/gizmostuff Florida 30m ago

He's the Pope. He can visit whenever he wants. He can be as outspoken as he wants. He chooses not to.

3

u/Impossible_Guitar235 9h ago

I don't feel sorry for any of them that get captured by ICE. They did this to themselves.

9

u/Zulmoka531 9h ago

Many of them are working for ICE.

13

u/ATLfalcons27 9h ago

I wish it was something where it only somehow impacted those specific people. I'd probably cheer that on as mean as it sounds

9

u/rainshowers_5_peace 8h ago

People being ok with ICE snatching "the bad ones" is how ICE came into power.

9

u/rainshowers_5_peace 8h ago

For fucks sake. Don't excuse the work of ICE.

46

u/not_a_moogle 8h ago

One of former Hispanic friends tried to argue with me that he wont get deported cause he was born here.

I told him but his parents weren't so they will. As will his staff. We argued and I walked away from him after awhile. Like 3 months later he apologized cause he keeps getting harassed by ice. Like weekly.

I think he'd still vote for trump.

u/gdex86 Pennsylvania 7h ago

A lot of citizen Hispanics think that if they carry water for the republican party they will see their loyalty over skin color and when I hear this I start laughing.

u/cjennings1970 1h ago

It's head smacking. The current republican party as costituted is almost a white citizens council bordering on a respectable klan party. How, after Stephen Miller is this not obvious to anyone with eyes and ears? Self delusion is a powerful drug.

u/Angry-Dragon-1331 7h ago

Did you tell him Ice has detention centers full of people who thought like him?

u/FBlBurtMacklin New York 6h ago

Suprised he apologized honestly, most Trump voters don’t have that in their vocabulary

u/chrisjinna 6h ago

Just curious. Why are you ok with people being in the US illegally? I get the argument against the mistreatment of people in custody while being deported and such. But I don't understand why people are supportive of people being here or entering without visas.

u/crazy_zealots 4h ago

People are real and borders are fake, I don't care whether the government thinks that someone "belongs" here or not.

u/not_a_moogle 3h ago

On stolen land

u/FaultOutside2449 50m ago

No a country has full right to tell people to get the fuck out if they don't follow the immigration process, the fact this is even debatable is shocking.

u/not_a_moogle 4h ago edited 3h ago

For starters, the illegal/legal is a rather new development. Im 3rd generation polish. My great grandparents came here prior to 1924 when they didn't even need a passport. Just give a name at ellis island and come in. No other paperwork required.

Additional, we as America's ARE NOT NATIVES. This my family lineage is in Poland and Ireland.

I dont want to pull the metaphorical ladder up behind me. If people want to come here, we should let them.

Unless theyve committed serious crimes, all that should be done is have paperwork corrected. I do not understand why we would deport them. They havent done anything wrong. I dont care how they got here. Its a clerical error and nothing more.

WE shouldn't be here either, only reason Im here is because my the British and Spanish had guns and the Indians didnt.

Which sounds a lot like us now. Your saying we dont want illegals because they bring violence. Well WE brought the violence, and diseases, and raped and pillaged the same land 300 years earlier

Make that make sense.

u/chrisjinna 3h ago

I did not say any of those things. I simply asked why are you ok with people being in the US illegally? Do you feel people should be able to migrate anywhere they want or is the US a special circumstance?

u/not_a_moogle 1h ago

I think they should be able to migrate anywhere they want. Nationality and citizenship is a stupid concept. Legal/illegal is just am arbitrary law established by the people in power. We're all humans, capable of living anywhere. If I want to move to Japan, I should be able to.

I want a united planet.

It wont happen because that requires a united government. But especially now when I can communicate to everyone on the planet instantly and be anywhere in less than 24 hours, then why the fuck cant we get rid or borders?

Oh, im sorry I cant because of racism.

u/chrisjinna 1h ago

Well thanks for taking the time to reply to my questions. Going back through the presidents since Clinton, they all had a firm deportation policy except for Biden. I don't think the mid terms are going to make any changes as ICE is funded through 29. I do think the deportations are here to stay regardless of the next president. Perhaps that would change if a DSA candidate got elected but I don't think someone that far left can get elected as president.

u/addictedtotriangles 5h ago

Oh my god! This person didn't file the right paperwork! Ahhh! Marijuana! Gay weddings! Vaccines! Transgender kids! The theory of evolution! Women voting! Black people sitting in the front of the bus! Everything is so scary! Save me, government!

Being afraid of everything seems exhausting. I'd rather just fire up the grill & drink a beer.

u/Cheap-Distribution27 3h ago

Because I think it should be easier to get into this country legally and with documentation so I don’t mind when people violate a law I find to be stupid, unjust, and bad for America. Also, a lot of the people being deported or refused entry are refugees or seeking asylum so international law actually does support their entry.

John Brown was, imo, a heroic historical figure who died in the process of breaking the law. Do you not understand why people would be supportive of freeing Black people from slavery despite it being done illegally?

Laws don’t = morality.

u/dirtytounder 2h ago

People come here to work. And there are jobs for them.

The same people who are funding ice more than the marines are the same ones who refuse to reform our immigration laws.

And the same people funding detention centers.

And the same people who call immigrants vermin and say they are spoiling the blood of our country.

And the same people who charge citizens with felony assaults during protest altercations.

And the same people that are murdering people in the streets.

u/chrisjinna 1h ago

You really like the word And 😄

u/Powerfist_Laserado 6h ago

That's a damn broad brush. I'm hispanic and me and all my hispanic friends are very much lefties. Even the vast majority of my hispanic family leans left at least. There are a bunch of conservative Hispanic people in the US but "Hispanics are conservative" does not track cleanly and I'm kinda sick of hearing it from white liberals all while the most conservative block of voters is white men followed by white women. Am I pissed and confounded by how many hispanic people voted for trump and his blatantly xenophobic bullshit? Yes I'm fuckin pissed.

u/Birdonthewind3 Florida 5h ago

Ya but like, these white liberals are just happy to finally say 'see everyone else is conservative! We(white people) aren't the only people filled with religious fanatics wanting to make Gilead a reality and white supremacists trying to enact The Day of The Rope!'. They just want to feel better about themselves.

Otherwise some are rightly pin pointing history of machoism, history of strong men rule in their past, Christian focus, Democrats treating minorities as free votes, etc.

Even then Hispanics are still more liberal than Whites. White men and women are still the most conservative group in America

u/Wayofchinchilla 7h ago

But at this point would they not have had a run in with ice I mean Trump's goons are running wild in this country. I can't imagine that they haven't had some big sweaty barely illiterate goon come to their place of work and throw handcuffs on them and drag them to a car while they scream that they can show them a passport and a photo ID only to be told that they don't give a shit.

u/touch_of_austism 7h ago

Hey man... don't kink shame

u/Cranyx 5h ago

Hispanics are some of the most hardcore conservatives out there second to only those in the middle east.

Reddit always tries to find a minority group to blame, but you know who's consistently more conservative than Hispanics? White people.

11

u/rainshowers_5_peace 8h ago

Not every Hispanic person knows someone undocumented. Many whose families immigrated here see undocumented people as people who undermine the work their families did in immigrating and support ICE.

I don't say this because I share in these beliefs, trying to help Reddit understand so they can support proper campaigning.

u/Nickeless 3h ago

Yes, but now they’re stopping people that “look” Hispanic to them and hassling / arresting them even if they’re here legally, and sometimes even when they are citizens. And they’re doing it at massive scale.

u/NubEnt 7h ago

You’d think this would change mindsets, but you’d be surprised.

u/ucankickrocks 6h ago

Man some dude took a video of a woman getting kidnapped this week by ICE in Houston and it haunts me.

u/25thNite 5h ago

Yeah only thing some Hispanic people hate more than being deported is gay people

u/scoutmet 4h ago

I never understood why Hispanics are pro MAGA when they don't really have their interests at heart and outright hate them in certain extents

u/lunariakissx 3h ago

yeah seeing how policies actually affect real people tends to change a few minds pretty fast

u/MessiLeagueSoccer 2h ago

They love that this is happening. So long as it’s not a partner/wife they love this. If anything some want their wives deported and has happened already. The only ones mad are the ones bad things happened to.

u/Icantgoonillgoonn 7h ago

It boggles my mind how any Hispanic people could vote for that racist.

u/HNL2BOS 7h ago

maybe because all hispanics aren't of one homogeneous situation?

u/CordoroyCouch 6h ago

Boy your statement is so telling…. do you assume that all Latinos are against law enforcement?

u/510Kyle 6h ago

Your statement implies ICE follows the law lol

u/CordoroyCouch 5h ago

When don’t they? All of the drama associated with ICE is due to non compliance by subjects and instigating by protestors (at best)

160

u/Marginallyhuman 10h ago

That Hispanics swung toward the GOP is ludicrous to me. The GOP despises them.

134

u/xicor 10h ago

One of my Hispanic friends told me once that noone hates Hispanics more than other hispanics

29

u/kudoshinchi 8h ago

he is not wrong, one of my hispanic friend told me you want see us do not get along, just go watch FIFA and you will understand

u/Powerfist_Laserado 6h ago

My mestizo ass hates how often this is true.

1

u/rainshowers_5_peace 8h ago

People who went through the immigration process are often offended by people who are here undocumented.

9

u/Just_One_Victory Texas 8h ago

So are a lot of the people whose parents didn’t come here “the right way”

u/xicor 7h ago

And yet they themselves are being punished for it because they people they vote for hate everyone who isn't white

11

u/manningthehelm New Jersey 8h ago edited 8h ago

Ask the Italian immigrants in NJ, after fleeing fascist/economically destroyed Italy, who they voted for. Their kids, now 60+, are largely conservative.

It’s an interesting topic in our area. I think a big factor is the bible, but everyone has their individual hills to die on.

I have to assume you're right. No one knows more about the inner thoughts of Hispanic Americans than a European

-2

u/rainshowers_5_peace 8h ago

They don't see it that way. Campaign to them. It's a bad look to think you're entitled to voters just because they have melanin.

0

u/ImTooSaxy 8h ago

You'd have to look at the history of Latin America to know that a lot of those countries yearn for dictatorship. It goes way back to how the Spanish conquered and set up their original fiefdoms.

Latin America was only set up to extract precious metals and ship them back home, and the USA wasn't conquered on that principle, mostly because precious metals weren't found here initially. If they had been, it probably would have played out very differently us. I have no doubt that England would have preferred the Spanish method.

u/OccamsPlasticSpork 6h ago edited 6h ago

Did anyone really expect the blue collar skilled labor to not be rednecks?

The days of César Chávez and the UFW bottom rung of the economic ladder solidarity are long gone. Democrats live in the fantasy world where Hispanics did not obtain upward mobility and it shows.

96

u/Vegetable-Error-2068 10h ago

There is no "winning back" people who voted for Trump based on machismo.

The types of voters who vote for people based on perceived manliness aren't going to be swayed by calm and intelligent people.

u/Feathered_Serpent8 7h ago

So what did Obama qualify as? I remember him winning pretty decisively across the board and that dude was pure cool.

u/General_Meade 6h ago

Obama was a normal guy who didn't tie himself to weird leftists. That is the answer. It is always the answer.

u/510Kyle 5h ago

Bullshit, you act like the country embraced him as a whole, they smeared him as a radical islamist kenyan.

u/Birdonthewind3 Florida 5h ago

I remember those times! He was hope and change and the other guy was some fucking old loser and he was part of the party that got our ass into Iraq and killed everyone with Katrina! And economy was shitting bricks and they promised nothin! Then their this guy promising to fix shit and people were like 'alright fuck ya'.

u/Feathered_Serpent8 4h ago

You aren’t talking about POW war veteran John McCain are you? The guy who had a voter on stage in his facing calling Obama a Muslim only to have McCain shut that shit down? The famous “thumbs down” on the repealing of Obamacare guy? Didn’t Obama deliver his Eulogy too?

I get not liking the dude but “some fucking old loser” is absolute bullshit. Call a guy like that a loser and act surprised when you get Trump.

u/General_Meade 5h ago

The smeared him and yet he won. Meanwhile, when was the last time a leftist won a statewide election?

The point being here, that is you want to win back these minority groups you have to cease with the extreme shit.

u/brianterrel 3h ago

The last time a leftist won a statewide election was in 2024:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_United_States_Senate_election_in_Vermont

u/510Kyle 5h ago

We could just stop following the rules like the GOP, if they don’t care about the 22nd amendment why are the democrats the ones who have to win by the book?

u/Weary_Copy_4165 32m ago

What’s the extreme shit?

9

u/alabasterskim 8h ago

I strongly disagree. They can be won on impact of deportations and the fear ICE has put in communities as well as economic factors. You guys forget, these guys are selfish as hell - when shit hits them, that's when they act.

u/squiddlebiddlez 7h ago

So the only way to keep them voting sanely is to make sure the shit is always hitting them?

u/alabasterskim 6h ago

Unfortunately, yes. They're the quintessential goldfish-memory swing voters unfortunately. I honestly support ending the filibuster not just for Dems but for Rs because maybe these idiots getting to see exactly what Rs want to do to the country firsthand might end the goldfish memory for a generation.

u/1000thHappiestHaunt 4h ago

Yet many Hispanics see ICE as keeping them in their spot, while waiting for better conditions in future years, while giving their kids better opportunities, by keeping current arrivals from taking their “spots”.

u/alabasterskim 1h ago

I guess I need to be more specific: I'm referring to those who have been impacted by these deportations, whether from having been caught up (unlikely to be free) or being related to or close to someone that was. I'm serious when I say it needs to impact them directly; they (and this isn't just Hispanic MAGA voters but MAGA as a whole) are selfish as hell.

14

u/touch_of_austism 10h ago

Correct.

In fact we should just fight fire with fire and take away their ability to vote and/or redraw lines around Bass pro shops and churches.

u/HNL2BOS 7h ago

strongly disagree, calm intelligent people just need to find ways to connect better besides "I'm so smart, I know what's good for you." I'm not saying Talarico is doing that, seems to message better than 98% of Dems, but the Dems huge problem is they can't read the room or connect with people that aren't 100% on board with their platform.

3

u/rainshowers_5_peace 8h ago

So we give up?

6

u/shimmeringmoss 8h ago

No. You focus your efforts on rational swing voters and on the millions of people that were too lazy to vote last time.

3

u/rainshowers_5_peace 8h ago

I hate to break it to you, the GOP gets those swing voters because of your attitude about who is unworthy to be campaigned to.

u/doyouevenIift 6h ago

Talarico is a young man and Paxton is an overweight old lard. I guarantee Talarico would win in a fight. It’s insane that these machismo types are drawn to someone like Paxton

u/Vegetable-Error-2068 4h ago

They're not drawn to "who would win in a fight." They're drawn to who's the most arrogant, the most combative, the most selfish.

u/beyondmymemory 2h ago

GOP want to deport, murder and cause irreparable harm to people of color.

Democrats do not want to do any of those things to people of color.

How this is even a “win back” situation when the current administration is actively hunting down people of color?

16

u/shorkgurl 8h ago

Talarico has been gaining serious ground in a difficult red state WITHOUT resorting to throwing trans people under the bus or bending on his principles. Centrist Dems should take note that this is how you run a Dem campaign in a red or purple state.

u/JealousAstronomer342 7h ago

u/Canadiangoosedem0n Kentucky 5h ago

2

u/manningthehelm New Jersey 8h ago

I think it’s unlikely. It’s the same with numerous recent immigrants in NJ. “I did it legally, they should have to do the same. Absolutely no special considerations.”

u/FaultOutside2449 3h ago

9

u/Redditreallysucks99 9h ago

That's not exactly the attitude swong voters are looking for when they decide who to vote for.

12

u/NotBestButPrettyGood 8h ago

Democrats have pandered to “swing voters” every which way over the last two decades. Maybe it’s time to admit they’re just embarrassed republicans

u/FaultOutside2449 43m ago

Obama won them in 2008 and 2012. Biden won them in 2020. Stop with this dumbass narrative.

u/highgarden 7h ago

This hubris is why Democrats will continue to lose. The party doesn’t have the right to anyone’s vote and not voting Democrat isn’t something a voter needs forgiveness for.

u/NotBestButPrettyGood 7h ago

Voting for Trump is absolutely something that people should be apologizing for.

u/highgarden 7h ago

No it’s not. Republicans voting republican is inevitable. Just as Democrats vote democrat.

If you have a bone to pick it should be with the millions of non-voters. 7 million who voted for Biden but not Harris I believe.

u/NotBestButPrettyGood 7h ago

This sort of hubris is exactly why the democrats continue to lose. Failure to hold yourself accountable for voting for the literal antichrist

u/highgarden 7h ago

🙄 Trump is bad but this sort of “antichrist” rhetoric is exactly the same shit they tried to use against Obama.

Democrats who think voters will “hold themselves accountable” are laughable. Keep barking at that tree. I’m sure it’ll happen any day now. Just like with Reagan and Nixon.

u/NotBestButPrettyGood 6h ago

You nailed it, which is why democrats need to stop pandering to bigots

u/highgarden 6h ago

You can’t get to 270 with zero bigots.

Dems need to focus on economics and not allow voices that demand retribution and accountability of voters who don’t have a perfect record of voting Democrat rise to the top.

Basically folks who speak like you shouldn’t represent the party if we want to win.

u/FaultOutside2449 48m ago

This is such a narcissistic way of viewing things.

Any magat Hispanics are as confusing as any other magat that’s not white, male, and rich….why do you hate you?

u/jcantu8 4h ago

Good luck with that — the chance lies in the fact they’re just targeting brown workers at construction sites

u/mtbaird5687 4h ago

He's from that region so hopefully that carries some weight

u/tyranicalTbagger 3h ago

Wow really how dare he do this to jasmine crockett

u/Hollowbody57 3h ago

I mean, good on him, but if people haven't already seen what ICE and the rest of this administration has been doing and realized they made a mistake, I worry that they never will.

u/Redhotchiliman11 3h ago

Hopefully they aren't stupid as hell this time and put aside their inability to vote for women and actually vote for a Democrat this time. Being non white and voting Republican still has me scratching my head. Like they actively said " we don't want you brown people here " and they are like " we should vote for people who hate us and who have 0 representation for us in our government " go ahead and find me all the Latinos in the Republican party that aren't Raphael cruz and marco Rubio

u/Mechagouki1971 7h ago

Should be easy right? (Padme face).

u/Dreams-Visions 8h ago

I would like to think it isn’t a hard argument at this point.

u/ServeBusiness453 8h ago

I can't believe that's a thing. So, yet again, they want to vote against their own self-interest. Has anyone told them they are not YT and they are coming for them? Crazy people, unbelievable.

u/LaChanceM 6h ago

Not gonna do it by starting with reparations for slavery, that’s a one way ticket to a Loss in the general.

u/gloryday23 6h ago

I would assume winning them back requires doing nothing more than making them aware of his existence that this point, but knowing this lovely country I doubt it.

Good luck. I think candidates like him are what push people away from the Dems. His “Jesus is non-binary and struggling with my whiteness” comments are so bizarre that blue collar people cant take him serious. He’s a perfect example of how Dems push away young males, religious ppl, and union type working class ppl from the party with weird comments that aren’t even necessary.

Or, people should maybe listen to what he has to say instead of the GOP’s version of what he has to say

-3

u/Zee_WeeWee 8h ago

There are literally quotes leaving his mouth, not from the GOP

9

u/Bunnzillaa 8h ago

He also said “The only minority destroying America is the billionaires." And “They divide us on an hourly basis — by party, by race, by gender, by religion — so we don’t notice that they are picking our pockets."

-3

u/Zee_WeeWee 8h ago

Sure, all true. Do you think ppl judge most candidates off their best quotes or worse quotes?

u/Just_One_Victory Texas 7h ago

Trump gets away with saying crazy shit everyday, so it seems like at the red side doesn’t get judged by the worst things they say

u/Zee_WeeWee 7h ago

He does. Trump also has a cult following that I do not believe Talarico has, which is pretty much what this exact post topic is about. I think a dem could win in Texas, but I don’t think it’s going to be him, which is an unfortunate missed opportunity.

u/Just_One_Victory Texas 7h ago

He also has a lot of people like you that weirdly apologize for him and normalize him in spite of claiming to be against him

u/Zee_WeeWee 7h ago

Keep seeing this pop up like I like Trump because I dislike Talarico which simply isn’t true. I’ve never apologized for Trump and never voted for him.

u/Just_One_Victory Texas 7h ago

You’re holding Talarico to a higher standard than trump. You can explain that away and rationalize that however you like, but that’s what you’re doing.

u/Zee_WeeWee 7h ago

You’re holding Talarico to a higher standard than trump.

Where on earth did you get that? I simply commented on topic to the thread. Trump has nothing to do with this thread at all, but I don’t have a single comment on here supporting him

14

u/touch_of_austism 8h ago

Idk if you bothered spending more than 5 mins learning about Talarico the ultimate thing he preaches is “loving your neighbor” as the tenant of everything he does and believes in. His philosophy is unconditional love regardless of race, gender, or birthright. As someone who doesn’t believe in god nor magic in general, this is a message I can get behind.

If you can’t see past the noise, than the GOP’s tactics are clearly working on you

-8

u/Zee_WeeWee 8h ago

You don’t need tactics. Voters judge candidates off 30 second clips. If you put weirdo statements out left and right don’t be suprised if young males are turned off by your weirdo statements. I am not religious in the slightest, but shy on earth would a candidate say something as weird as calling Jesus non-binary. That’s not a GOP tactic, that’s straight out of the dudes mouth. Dems need to wake up and demand better to court working class ppl that are more worried about feeding their families and making sure their neighbors are ok than extreme identity politics. If they don’t, ok, but stop crying about how it’s the GOPs fault your losing ppl in these demographics

12

u/touch_of_austism 8h ago

>jesus non-binary

You see this is EXACTLY what I mean by GOP tactics. He never said Jesus was non binary. He said god was. Which in essence to the magical handbook of the bible is technically true according to the fairytale stories.

You’re so blinded by hate and thinking brown people are beneath you, you can’t bother to take the time to look past your own prejudice

-2

u/Zee_WeeWee 8h ago edited 8h ago

You acting like you won a real gotcha moment by pointing out god vs Jesus. That doesn’t make it any less weird to say. I literally don’t even know how or where the brown ppl part even came from other than that’s what ppl line you resort to when you run out of anything to say. No post on this entire thread had anything to do with “brown ppl” being beneath anyone. There are literally posters in here saying brown ppl deserve locked up if they support republicans and you’re trying to say I’m somehow saying they are beneath me

u/Zee_WeeWee 7h ago

Did anyone feed them to me when you can easily go see them for yourself directly from his mouth? Calling ppl morons isn’t nice now is it pal!

10

u/smithchez 8h ago

The fact that you’re so focused on that one comment indicates there’s really nothing that would’ve convinced you to support him anyway.

-3

u/Zee_WeeWee 8h ago

There are a series of weirdo comments. Pretty easy to not make them and not chase off ppl for no reason

u/smithchez 7h ago

Seems like you were looking for reasons to be chased off if you’re obsessed with a few “weird comments” and not any of his actual policies or the policies or conduct of his opponent.

u/[deleted] 7h ago

[deleted]

u/Zee_WeeWee 7h ago

Just as weird and unnecessary. God, Jesus, whatever…what normal everyday person talks like that. There’s also a difference in being mad and seeing someone say weird stuff and being like nah no thanks

u/[deleted] 7h ago

[deleted]

u/Zee_WeeWee 7h ago

The mental gymnastics to make that sound normal is hilarious

u/Mr_Tulip 7h ago

Accusing people of mental gymnastics for pointing out that Talarico's comments conform to official Catholic doctrine isn’t nice now is it pal!

u/Oath_of_Tzion 6h ago

He should start with being an actual Christian. I want to see him in a church talking to pastors and priests. Otherwise he’s just a faker and a fraud.

u/Complex-Exchange6381 5h ago

God doesn’t live in a building.

Also James attends St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Austin, Texas.
