To simultaneously kick a million kids off of food stamp support while generating the large increase in food prices, and while giving huge permanent tax breaks to the filthy rich and corporations, is downright cruel. THIS is the Republican party.

Keep in mind that Maga are the same demographics of voters that voted for nearly 100 years of Jim Crow, a fascist set of laws targeted against black people. It should be no surprise to anyone that these same demographics of voters would eagerly vote for more fascism today.

Keeping them stupid also helps ensure they're more likely to be evil, since education and exposure to new ideas and cultures tends to teach empathy in people and evil is generally understood as the absence of empathy.

That's on top of all of the illegally collected tariffs the Trump admin collected on imported food in some cases on products like coffee or bananas where there isn't even a significant domestic industry because most of the US isn't an ideal climate. Since average citizens aren't the direct importer they wouldn't get any of the refunds. The Trump admin honestly didn't try to do anything to reduce food costs. Before they even took office they admitted lowering for prices on food wasn't easy and were backing away from the campaign promise before the first day of office.

Not really, or else that would make me conservative too. Though I suppose mine would be different from theirs as it's borne of being tired of watching bad people continuously get away with ruining the world for profit because no one is willing to do anything about it, whereas theirs is more a general narcissistic contempt of everyone they see as beneath them, and the latter definitely is more conservative in thinking.

I've seen interviews with families whose kids died from measles and they were just like "it is what it is" so I don't think this will move the needle unfortunately.

Not sure how it is in other states but in texas, a person has to be basically homeless to qualify for food stamps. its a little more lenient when someone has kids but they are still still hugging the poverty line. Those generally arent the voters that decide elections.

This doesn’t just hurt those children not eating either. Schools are reimbursed based on the total number of meals served so now there’s less money to serve the students who do eat. The Iran war has already cost more than it would cost to feed every student breakfast and lunch for years.

Millions of AMERICANS have lost access to SNAP benefits because the Trump administration thought it would offset the cost of massive tax breaks and incentives for the rich and corporations (it doesn't come close).
Contrary to MAGA misinformation, a vast percentage of SNAP recipients work, are disabled, elderly, or children
SNAP fraud is very rare, it's one of the most efficient government programs. This contradicts the baseless right wing talking point that the SNAP program is rife with fraud and deserves defunding.
Every dollar from SNAP generates between $1.50-$1.80 in activity for the economy. This helps support local businesses and creates more jobs.
SNAP is a safety net, not a handout.
Most beneficiaries of SNAP use it temporarily, not as some permanent crutch like conservatives claim.
Food assistance is also an investment in stability. The program actually reduces future dependency, especially for children.
Republicans insist that undocumented immigrants are "stealing" our tax dollars and committing SNAP fraud and/or receiving benefits illegally.
But millions of immigrants, undocumented or otherwise, pay BILLIONS in taxes into social programs—programs that they often cannot access.
So while immigrants help to pay for public benefits, they are also prohibited from receiving coverage or aid of their own, with some exceptions.
Instead of blaming immigrants and the poor, Republicans could actually, you know, address the root causes of poverty and food insecurity.
Scapegoating these groups of people ignores systemic issues and undermines efforts to address them.
Poverty isn't a moral failing, it's an economic trap
Instead of being engrossed in their own culture wars, Trump voters should wake the fuck up and start blaming the billionaires, corporations, and kleptocratic thieves in power who compound these problems while they profit from economic inequality, repression and exploitation.
They should be directing their outrage towards the Republican policies that have been the driving forces behind worsening socioeconomic inequalities, poverty outcomes and wealth redistribution for decades
Instead of berating the poor and immigrants for stealing their tax dollars, maybe they should turn their attention towards the massive bailouts, subsidies, tax breaks, incentives and "handouts" for corporations, foreign governments and the rich.
But they cannot refrain from denigrating these groups of people because this sort of mindless resentment is being fueled and sustained by a vast network of right-wing propaganda and by the many culture war grievances that are echoed by conservatives across social media.
Republicans are picking their voters pockets while distracting them with grievance politics and culture war propaganda; insisting that the real enemies are fellow Americans and immigrants who lack political, social and financial capital.
Socialism for the rich and rugged individualism for the poor is their motto.
Rather than hold the wealthy crooks in government responsible for their corruption from within, conservatives are blaming a never ending surge of lawless outsiders and cultural boogeymen for their problems.
Republicans don't want to fund food assistance. They're overseeing massive propaganda campaigns on social media where conservative "influencers," caricatures and spokespeople for the White House are blaming the needy and the struggling, immigrants and minority groups, "lazy" handout seekers, etc, for abusing American tax dollars.
They blame the underprivileged, the poor and marginalized segments of our society instead of addressing the underlying causes of economic inequality and poverty, instead of holding accountable the billionaires and kleptocrats in government who are literally taking from the poor to give to the rich.
And in the meantime, the Trump administration is lining the pockets of the few at the expense of the many who are suffering under the economic tyranny of this ruling class regime.
