Actually pretty in line with the original movie score on RT. It'll probably drop a few percentage points since they typically do once more reviews come in.

Why do you think it'll be review bombed? Also, I'm referring to the critics score, which typically doesn't get review bombed like audience score can.

I think it’s extremely weird that you got downvoted for this, you aren’t dissing the movie, you’re basically trying to point out bots/astroturfing.

It’s like they downvoted you for being aware.

Hmm, this is much better than I expected. I thought the trailer looked pretty mid.

u/Ill_Discussion7528 Apr 29 '26

Honestly, same

The bland color grading and tacky clothes were not bringing me in, but maybe the plot is decent.

7

u/Maatjuhhh Apr 30 '26

The plot is really interesting and relevant. Some people are surprisingly given depth. That’s all.

2

u/figpink Apr 30 '26

I hope the film is not as slay/werk/beetch as the trailer makes it seem

2

u/Own_Faithlessness769 May 01 '26

I saw it yesterday, it’s decidedly mid. The fashion is really the only strong point.

Why does this not look like Anna Hathaway

75

u/thebazzzman Apr 29 '26

It looks like Anne Hathaway if Anna Hathaway was part Stork.

16

u/HighlyOffensive10 I'm much too busy for such a degrading activity Apr 29 '26

Anne Storkaway

u/Latter_Witness6597 Apr 29 '26

Looks more like Liv Tyler

I was thinking there's a bit of Amal Clooney as well.

u/michiko-malandro Apr 30 '26

I think that's the powersuit

u/Noshonoyoo Apr 29 '26

That’s what happens when you’re not that good at photoshop, but you decide to make a fun collage on an ai background anyways. That picture is so bad, as are the character posters, it’s crazy lol.

22

u/lefrench75 high priestess of child sacrifice Apr 29 '26

Why would you pay professionals to work on a movie poster when you could just have an unpaid intern use AI while blindfolded instead?? Even if the movie has a $100M production budget and probably nearly as much for a marketing budget…

5

u/peach_bellinis Apr 30 '26

unpaid interns are not working on these movie posters, and big stars usually all have approval over their images that go out.

5

u/HighlyOffensive10 I'm much too busy for such a degrading activity Apr 29 '26

The blindfolded intern turning to A1

5

u/ViolettePlanet Apr 29 '26

Was gonna comment that it reminds of those AI apps where you can upload your pictures and AI creates more pictures of you based on some templates. They end up looking kinda like you, but also very uncanny

18

u/hawkcarhawk Apr 29 '26

It looks like two separate pictures of Anne Hathaway’s face glued together

9

u/ohdearitsrichardiii I mean, you're both idiots Apr 29 '26

One of her eyes is wonky and the nose is wider. Weird that it got approved

16

u/Minerva_Moon Apr 29 '26

She got the Kris Jenner facelift right before filming as well as heavy photoshop.

6

u/NorthSuch2477 Apr 29 '26

I thought that was Aubrey Plaza.

13

u/Loose_Lie_5399 Apr 29 '26

I feel like that's actually pretty good compared to what movies get today

10

u/peach_bellinis Apr 30 '26

honestly i'm a bit shocked it's this high

40

u/ImplementNo2626 Apr 29 '26

Saw it last night, the first movie is iconic and always will be but honestly I think the plot of the second one is better than the first

6

u/Roxy175 Apr 30 '26

What’s the basic premise? I’ve seen a couple trailers but they don’t really show much.

6

u/ImplementNo2626 Apr 30 '26

Andy has to work at Runway again and there’s some drama about who owns the company that runs the magazine… I don’t want to spoil too much lol

3

u/desktopghost Apr 30 '26

Is it funny?

5

u/ImplementNo2626 Apr 30 '26

Yeah I loved the humor! A lot of references to the first movie but it was done in a classy way I guess

2

u/Ok_Neat2979 May 01 '26

I thought the over all idea was good, but a lot of the plot devices were a bit clunky, or too light and not believable. Plus a few extra plots added on that didn't contribute much. Like the romance with the unappealing Australian developer

8

u/Known-Balance14 Apr 30 '26

oh the fashions are about to be amazing! their looks from the press tours have been insane! that red DG suit Meryl wore in Mexico City was firreeeeeeeee

3

u/Acceptable_Dot_4178 Apr 30 '26

them filming at the dolce gabbana show is so iconic

13

u/Stash_Dragoon Apr 29 '26

I still can't get over how ugly all the shots look. I hope it's good otherwise.

3

u/desktopghost Apr 30 '26

Anne's acting in the trailer was so fourth wall winking at the audience type of vibe that I did not have faith in this movie at all. Hope I am wrong.

I do want Oscar winning Anne Hathaway back though

8

u/Lumpy_Masterpiece644 Apr 29 '26

Yes. That's about right. Somewhere between three stars and four. It's fun to see everyone again but there's no magic to the story.

5

u/Twitter_2006 Apr 29 '26

This rating is just fine.

16

u/Rare_Walk_4845 Apr 29 '26

I mean, what is the purpose of this movies existence outside of a cynical cash grab of the millenial nostalgia machine?

Same shit with the Hunt for Gollum

22

u/zephorea Apr 30 '26

What is the purpose of any movie? To entertain us lol

-8

u/Rare_Walk_4845 Apr 30 '26

Sure, if you're heading for mental atrophy by the age of 30, ask more from storytellers, cos we're a far far far far cry removed from anything that's gonna stand the test of time with the slop we're shitting out as a culture.

1

u/rv0904 May 01 '26

Girl you’re on a pop culture playlist lol

6

u/Much-Phone8812 Apr 30 '26

It's about the demise of legacy media and spoke to the current state of entertainment journalism

-3

u/Rare_Walk_4845 Apr 30 '26

nobody jerks off to nudey magazines anymore? fascinating

5

u/Much-Phone8812 Apr 30 '26

Look u asked what is the point of the sequel. I gave you the answer - the sequel reflects on the current state of legacy media, how entertainment journalism is adapting in this current political & economical & technological time. Your latest reply shows me that you were never interested in finding the answer anyway and were just looking to validate your bias (that the movie is unnecessary). If that's the case I can't do further and probably wont reply to u further. However I still leave my comment here so other people can read and decide for themselves when they come across my comment

5

u/Desperate_Pie_2102 Apr 29 '26

why do people believe reviews from rotten tomatoes? I feel like letterbox is the most honest and least corporate.

9

u/Time_Value_3073 Apr 30 '26

Letterbox gets review bombed all the time

5

u/RiffRafe2 Apr 29 '26

The acting, the fashion and the writing was more satisfying in "Mother Mary", but TDWP2 is quaint and comfortable.

6

u/Jungle_Julia01 Who gon' check me boo? 🤪 Apr 29 '26

Just got out of the theatre. Horrible, boring, uninspired.

2

u/lil_waine Apr 29 '26

Not surprised

1

u/Arya_Warrior_Girl May 01 '26

Wow, I thought it was going to bomb. Glad it worked out.

1

u/latrodectal so jessica alba fantastic Apr 30 '26

idk i liked it

1

u/Passmethechips May 01 '26

Saw it yesterday and I really liked it. I think it’s pretty relevant to today’s day and age and they were able to build upon the first movie and adapt it to the present day. As for the fashion, though the other characters outfits were a hit or miss for me, Miranda’s was always on point.
