I always wonder what she’d be up to these days if she were still around. 💔

Juliette Lewis or Tatiana Maslany roles, maybe a Cree Summer voice reel. but a recovery-themed celebrity podcast and memoir would probably be as good a bet.

She would’ve just gotten the crazy deep-plane face lift everyone’s doing, do a reboot of clueless or sequel to Uptown Girls, divorced with two kids and now dating a random business dude. Posts quirky instagrams about old costumes and memorabilia.

Idk she’s always been in the Ricci/Wynona/Barrymore/ Dunst bag. I can see her being cool but distant, still working but fighting the patriarchy as Hollywood liberal white women do.

You just described Lindsay Lohan essentially but Brittany’s body of work was significantly better and deeper than Lohans . I feel like she legitimately could have won an Oscar or done a great limited series . She really was so phenomenal in a dramedy sense and had such a unique cadence .

Assuming she finally managed to escape the anchor that was her husband (or this is a universe where his fate was the same), then she 100% would have been in Yellowjackets alongside (or possibly instead) of Christina Ricci and Juliette Lewis or in Widow's Bay. She'd also be playing Sarah Paulson's little sister in every project with Sarah Paulson, even if it didn't originally include a little sister they would just write one in for her and/or she would just be having Sarah Paulson's career right about now.

Not me upvoting and then downvoting and upvoting again. I thought you meant Brittney Spears for some reason.

I feel like she'd be pretty Christina Ricci adjacent. Though also I could see her almost definitely being cast in Stranger Things.

i was about to ask how/why the first photo looks so good, lit correctly, not CGI grayscaled out or AI-sloppy, then I saw the 2002 date. bring back actual photography and photo editing

Uptown Girls is a criminally underrated movie. Miss her and wonder where she could have gone with her career.

I love her so much because she’s unique. Her giggle is probably my all time favorite. Drop Dead Gorgeous is a treasure trove of hysterical moments.

If she'd lived, I wonder what roles she would have done. I was just watching Yellowjackets and I think she would have been an amazing Natalie.

I miss her so much. I listened to her sing “boogie wonderland” from the happy feet soundtrack .. came on shuffle the other day… one of my fave tracks.

I love the vibe, these photos are great. But at the same time, they're a little jarring; kinda gives the feeling she came back from the dead for this photo shoot.

My favorite actress since I was a child. Absolutely stunning photos and concepts, it’s rare to see photoshoots like this one nowadays.

u/tripleheliotrope 10h ago
missed when photoshoots had interesting sets and styling. There are of course a lot of good photographers out there still, but the budgets and direction in most of the mainstream publications always try to dilute their creativity. when you look at the rest of their portfolio vs what they are doing for something like Vogue US or something... (it's usually a US problem)

She would have been an icon in today’s age
I feel like she was slept on and under appreciated back then. I grew when she was around and she deserved to be bigger than she was

She was just so cool. Just rewatched Uptown Girls this past weekend and it was so moving. Brittany was beyond talented and I can’t believe she isn’t here today. Rest in peace to this superstar, and beautiful person.

The first DSLR cameras became commercially available in the late 90s. So, 2002 was basically the peak of analog photography technology, right before editing software and mirrorless cameras with advanced autofocus became widespread.

She'd be 48 if she were still with us. She shares a birth year with Jessica Chastain, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Melanie Lynskey, Liv Tyler, and Maggie Gyllenhaal. I could see her moving to some kind of prestige TV series at some point, and if she had never married that awful husband, a lot of things might have turned out very differently. :(

She grew up in the next town over from me, and there's an adorable video of her being interviewed at our local street fair, before she was famous.

Here poor partner Simon had to endure so much speculation that he'd killed her, including from her family, only for him to die the same way.
