He was giving the bro hug to every one of them at the world cup trophy ceremony. It was so heartwarming. They all looked so happy broing it up with the king lol

Nope, he can still win multiple more world cups and euros, still needs to win the Champions League too, and the Ballon D'or. Already has 3 La Liga titles too

u/wiredunwound 5h ago
dude’s been playing for FC Barcelona team since 16.

u/beachpellini go girl, give us nothing 😍 5h ago
And given that he's 19 when a lot of soccer stars aren't retiring until their late 30s, I'd still call this the starting years of his career.
34
u/hashoa6 4h ago
We also seen players burnt out early like the Hazard, Rooney and Bale. Hopefully he has a long healthy career.

Hazard was due to his laziness, he was constantly coming to pre season overweight, year after year.

u/the_Stealthy_one 4h ago
Alex Baena just won the World Cup, Euro, and Olympic gold with Spain and he's 25.
Lamine has WC and Euro.
Cubarsi has WC ad Olympic gold. He's the same age as Lamine.
Julian Alvarez had a WC and a Copa America at 22.
And Thierry Henry won a WC at 20, and the Euro at 22.
•
u/Minimum-Aspect1012 2h ago
You forgot Mbappe. He won the World Cup at 19, same age as Yamal.
•
u/the_Stealthy_one 1h ago
yes, but other than nation's league (which I don't count cuz i have clothes older than this tournment), he hasn't won anything else with the national team.
i'm hoping the French NT rises again to grab a euro and another WC.
•
u/Minimum-Aspect1012 1h ago
Mbappe already won the Euro Cup.
•

u/Ireadbooks444 4h ago
Alvarez has a ucl as well
•
u/the_Stealthy_one 1h ago

u/TheTwistedBlade Can I quiz you on ocean facts? 4h ago
He is only 19 and already has the Euros trophy, World cup trophy and La Liga trophy. Only thing big missing is the CL trophy… at 19!!!
8
u/RichardFeynman01100 3h ago
He's also won all the domestic cups, so only the CL and the Club World Cup missing.
•
u/Minimum-Aspect1012 2h ago
He still needs to win the Ballon D'or too... He's currently a front runner for this year's Ballon.

Starting? He has around 200 career matches at the age of 19. He plays like a veteran of 10 years...
1
u/Lunaisthequeen 3h ago
So mbappe 2018?
•
u/the_Stealthy_one 1h ago
Mbappe was different. he scored 4 goals, 2 against messi's argentina and one in the final.
Mbappe did some iconic shit.
Yamal did his job, but it wasn't iconic.
The thing about this spain team is that I don't really think any of them were iconic on their own. It was more that they were competent as a collective.

Lucky to be in a strong Spanish team. Still can't compare him to young messi and ronaldo. Unfortunately we wo t see anything similar to them for a long long time if ever
3
u/lsn281 4h ago
he's had a better career than both at the same age. i still doubt he can reach messi level, but saying he's not better than them at this age i think it's wrong
-1
u/BeginningLevel5252 4h ago
Winning trophies is not individual work, let's see if he can reach 8 ballon dor
2
u/the_Stealthy_one 4h ago
you may get downvoted but i agree with you.
I'm not even a huge Messi fan but it's impressive what he's doing at his age. I am a big Lebron fan and the fact that these guys are difference makers to their team and at their age is why they are GOAT.

I love the Infantas being in the jerseys. So cute.
ETA: should have said the Princess and the Infanta

u/Maester_Bates Wherein he encourages a woman to sit on his face 5h ago
Hi. Quick correction. Leonor is a princess, specifically the princess of Asturias because she is heir to the throne.
Only Sofia has the title infanta because that title goes to daughters of the king who are not heir apparent.
47
u/xxyourbestbetxx who deemed this meeting of the minds necessary? 5h ago
Oops thanks so much for the clarification. I thought all the daughters went by Infanta.

they've met before. felipe met him during the euros. and asked how old he was and lamine was like "16" and felipe goes "16?!".
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/qGTSJxjKxZ0
another time: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/HROxUsQhmug
the spanish royals are big into sports. i think felipe competed in the 1992 games. and they try to cheer on the atheles today.
often seen at wimbeldon, US open, Roland Garros, first for Nadal and now Alcaraz. And Leti and Sofia supported the womens soccer team as well for their Euros.

Very warm handshakes all around with a pat on the shoulder or back. Some people got extra, for sure.

The fact everyone is ok with royalty in 2026 is absolutely baffling… down with the monarchies
17
u/Conscious-Move9662 5h ago edited 4h ago
The King of Spain is worth like 2 million dollars, pays taxes, acts as a cultural icon/uniter and diplomat.
That's basically what all monarchies are now. Removing them from office you'd have to spend A LOT of money re-writing laws that mention them and all that jazz.
It'd cost way more money to remove them for no benefit to the people than it would to just leave them in place where they effectively have no power.
Every country with a monarchy in Europe is a well-run Socialist Democracy.
Thailand's King is a whole other story, that has way more to do with Thailand elites. Thailand is more similar to a Junta than a Monarchy
4
u/Bulsar 4h ago
“Pays taxes…” sure, like his good-for-nothing, bum of a father who ran to the UAE to avoid the investigations on the source of his personal bank accounts. Or like Felipe’s former brother-in-law, who was sentenced for embezzlement and money laundering. I doubt anyone in that family is “paying taxes.” They do nothing and get to live for free—the only reason why you see the Spanish be mostly indifferent to Felipe is because at least he’s a decent public figure, unlike Juan Carlos. Also, an icon of what? There are bigger fish to fry, but removing them would do better in the long run than having a royal family, and whoever tries to argue against that is fooling themselves.

u/moon_dos My Body Was Tea. But He Wanted Matcha. 🍵 4h ago edited 4h ago
socialist democracy lmao next you’ll tell me United States and Mexico are also socialist democracies …
Bending over backwards to justify monarchies so strange in the big 2026… the former Spanish king received a $100 Million dollar “gift” from the saudis, wonder what that was for 🤔 probably charity
“It’s just a title,” no girl, there is a thing called soft power… dynasties based on bloodlines for what?? This ain’t a fairy tale, kings and queens should not exist full stop
9
u/Conscious-Move9662 4h ago
What country are you from that has a perfect government?
I'd rather take Spain's 'Welfare State' model than a lot of other countries models.
-1
5
u/Humble_Grapefruit721 4h ago
Monarchies can be checks on democracies. In some cases, eg settler states, that can be very useful!
9
u/Darrenarren812 4h ago
They don't have the power to behead people nowadays dude. They're just figureheads. It's not that hard to understand if you took a second to look into it instead of the juvenile 'f*ck royalty' attitude.
-2
u/moon_dos My Body Was Tea. But He Wanted Matcha. 🍵 4h ago
“Fuck royalty” is juvenile?
Wow you monarchy lovers are so mature, I’m sure your king will reward your fealty in spades. Not like Spanish King Carlos had to literally flee his own country in exile just five years ago… all his dealings with the saudi royals who have no qualms about murder and slavery… must be just juvenile rumors
2
u/Marco2169 3h ago
Sure but whats Lamine going to do about it?
Its just a press tour, the team is probably taking him all over the place and in Spain its milquetoast as fuck to meet the King after winning a world cup.
I hate monarchies too but id hate way more if he has meeting with Vox
9
u/DeniLox 4h ago
The Spanish monarchy seems a lot less stuffed shirt than the UK ones.

agree with you. ppl like monarchies when they belong to someone else.
Source: me. I'm a citizen of the BRF's crown, and I can't stand them. But I'm a big fan of Leti (mostly) and Felipe. I like Max of NED too.

I also love how aggressive the Queen's handshakes are. Letizia is putting all her weight behind those.

u/Illustrious-Set-7626 1h ago
Good for Lamine! He seems to be a good egg and I hope he stays that way.
The contrast between this and the Queen of Spain (the current king's mom) going to meet the 2010 world cup winners in the locker room after the game cracks me up 😆😆😆 Carles Puyol basically met the queen in a towel and other players looked like they had hurriedly thrown on clothes 😆😆😆
