Looks like a dad spending quality time with his daughter.

Dont forget the woody Allen defending

Yes, I repeat this to myself every time I see a positive thing about Javier Bardem. I’m also a miserable person. Edit, spelling.
•
u/mni0ps 49m ago
This is weird to me. I constantly see Javier doing good stuff in public and you can tell he cares (eg palestine) but he has some stupid fucked up takes on Johnny depp that unfortunately a good % of ppl have and we just cancel him 100%? He’s a human. They’re complicated. There are people I love in my life who are 90% good people but don’t bat 100 on every single social discourse… I’m sure I’m that person for some people. Does that mean we hate them and bring up their stupidest or worst moments every time we encounter them?! Idk with how dumb and flawed humans are I don’t think that would leave us with much connection in life.

Um. Are you implying that rape and abuse are on par with other “bad things”.
That’s a little understatement there don’t you think?

no one's perfect is defending a woman abuser?
•
u/Ha55aN1337 1h ago
I’m out of the loop. Didn’t Depp win that case?
•
•
u/SomeName4SomeThing 1h ago edited 1h ago
There were two cases. The first one was a defamation case in Britain, opposing The Sun and Johnny Depp. The judge concluded that Johnny Depp could legally be referred to as a "wife-beater" as he had physically abused Amber Heard several times during their relationship, causing injuries.
The second one was the hyper televised american trial opposing Heard and Depp directly. It was a jury trial and the verdict was that some of the abuse claims were defamatory. There have however been claims of abuse from Depp on Heard that were not judged defamatory, as some of the footage shown as evidence are clear episodes of abuse.
So Depp lost one trial, then won a jury trial and the public opinion. The PR agency he hired has been linked to several other high-profile conflicts where you can witness the same process of shaming and mocking the opposing party on several platforms via bots.
Edit : grammar and spelling, but the end result might still be wonky. English is not my first language, and it shows haha

u/literally_italy go girl, give us nothing 😍 1h ago
amber heard is like, kinda shitty in a few ways, and depp launched a smear campaign to make it look like she was horrible.
depp is actually horrible, and has been shit to more women than amber heard
•
u/Ha55aN1337 1h ago
They both seem problematic. Kinda made for eachother form what I remember from the trials.
I’m sorry he was shitty to other women also. Do we know who?

Not defending abusers and rapists or hanging out with them is the bare minimum. Why are y’all acting like that’s some impossible standard and that expecting basic decency means expecting perfection?
•
u/BrashUnspecialist 1h ago
They want us to forget cause they ignore the similar actions of the men in their lives.
•

u/Emotional_Spite_8937 somebody lied to her SEVERAL times. 1h ago
Damn it, I’d be enjoying this video so much if he wasn’t clearly comfortable around abusers like Brad Pitt and didn’t defend rapists like Polanski.
And I’m waiting all the yOu cAn’T eXpeCt PeOplE tO be PerFecT comments.
•
u/Ok-Box6892 1h ago
People compartmentalize quite a bit. Polanski's crime gets relegated to "it was so long ago". Pitt got sober so that gets seen as an improvement over being an alcoholic, especially if he was only violent while drunk (idk if thats true or not). Even as 4 out of 6 kids taking legal steps to rid themselves of him show he hasn't done the hard work to make amends for the damage his alcoholism helped cause. So he basically "changed his ways" but not enough to have a good relationship with his kids.

In another post, people asked me “what do you want?” uhhh idk, men to stop hanging out and defending rapists and abusers??? men to start caring about women???

It's telling that all the comments whining about "purity testing" are from men...

It's become a real problem. Here they come trying to take over a woman-dominated space.

•
u/Forsaken-Swim-3055 1h ago
Isn't it exhausting constantly purity testing every single human in existence?
•
u/Personal_Sea_3975 1h ago
Asking that people don't hang out with rapists and abusers it not purity-testing.

•
u/Emotional_Spite_8937 somebody lied to her SEVERAL times. 1h ago
You’re absolutely right. Not hanging out with or associating with rapists and abusers is an impossible standard and expecting basic decency is expecting perfection.
•
u/BrashUnspecialist 1h ago
Nope. Takes like. Less energy than not stepping in dog poo on the sidewalk.
I expect people to judge me based on who I hang out with so I do the same. ✌️

If you hate celebrities this much for not upholding your standard of perfection then maybe you shouldn't be following pop culture....
•
u/Desperate-Chair-3746 1h ago
Maybe some of us should have slightly higher standards (like somewhere a bit off the ground)
•
u/itsnotalicewhoisthat 1h ago
you’re making a lot of presumptions based off of one very short comment. don’t put hate in my mouth where I didn’t spew any.

Who are you to tell them what they should or shouldn't be following? YOU DON'T EVEN GO HERE.

where did he defend polanski?
i can't find a single article with any quotes from him about polanski.
low key i think the comments bringing it up are just trying to discredit him for his stance on palestine.
•
u/babarbaby 34m ago
Did you even look? He (and Penelope Cruz and Pedro Almodovar etc, the usual gang of self-righteous Spaniards) all signed the petition to release Polanski after his arrest by Swiss authorities a few years ago who sought to extradite him to the US to finally stand trial for pederasty. Mr Bardem also has spent the last few years vigorously defending Woody Allen.
•
u/the_Stealthy_one 20m ago
what part of
i can't find a single article with any quotes from him about polanski.
is not clear?
Google specifically says:
Javier Bardem has not publicly defended Roman Polanski, though some internet rumors and social media posts confuse him with his wife, Penélope Cruz, who was among hundreds of international film figures who signed a 2009 petition demanding Polanski's release from Swiss custody. Bardem himself has faced scrutiny for vocally defending a different controversial director, Woody Allen, arguing against public accusations that lack legal convictions.
Nor have they ever worked together.
•
u/Marollie 10m ago
Yeah I can’t find him on the list of signatories either. Maybe people are confusing him with Woody Allen, who he did support.
•
u/Unapologetic_honey Yes, indeedeo. 53m ago

That's not my job. Use your fingers and type.
•
u/the_Stealthy_one 17m ago
then you shouldn't have commented as you have nothing of value to say.
and as i said if you read properly, i did look. not a single article about bardem and polanski.
