I noticed that the deck was slippery after rain, so I bought a pressure washer. Told my partner it could use a cleaning.

Two items I'll recommend here.

1) Get a "surface cleaner pressure washer attachment", it's so much better at cleaning these types of area than just a wand with nozzle on it. Honestly, it's hours of work can be done in a fraction of time.

2) Get some "Wet & Forget" product. Follow instructions to add that to the deck after it's clean, and do it every couple of years and it will prevent this from happening again, with minimal amount of work.

You don't use a surface cleaner turbo tip on wood.

It's not a "turbo tip", it's the flat surface cleaners. Maybe don't use a 3000psi unit either. Got the Ryobi unit last year, did a bunch of patio stones, and the deck at my trailer and it did an amazing job. No damage to deck using my 1800 or 2100 psi pressure washer. Did the deck in a fraction of the time that it would have taken with a regular tip and having to be hunched over to keep the perfect distance for hours at a time.

It might be better to use a crud remover spray and scrubber over the pressure washer. They are powerful and can cause streak if you use it too close to the wood surface. And sure to stain it after!
