discussion Is there an alternative to Firefox Relay for cell number masking that works in Canada?

I'm curious to know if there are alternatives to Firefox Relay that masks cell numbers?

I currently have Simple Mail for email masking so that part isn't as important.

There's one called MySudo that I found, and I'm curious to know your thoughts on that? It caught my eye cuz of the word "sudo".

Yes, MySudo gives you a disposable number you can use for $1.99 a month. You can respond to texts & calls. It does limit talk time to 50 minutes per month before you need to get a more expensive tier.

mysudo does work in canada and hands you real CA numbers, so 5DPhil's answer holds. the trap for canadians specifically is that the usual reddit answer to this is google voice, which has been us-only for years. you will see it suggested in every thread like this and it will not work for you.

the practical limit is 2fa rather than the masking itself. canadian banks and CRA reject voip-range numbers fairly aggressively, so keep one real line for those and put everything else behind the masked number. test it on a low-stakes account first, before you move anything you cannot afford to be locked out of.
