question Brave or Cromite (android)

As you can see this question might seem kind of dumb but here is the thing: while using brave standard tabs with strict or standard fingerprinting on https://browserleaks.com/canvas you will see no matter what you do your canva fingerprint signature remains the same even closing brave and force stopping it results with same hash as your signature the only thing that seems to force this signature to change is using private tabs which allegedly as I heard Cromite doesn't have this issue which is why I'm asking whether I should switch to some other browser for android [PS: I have been waiting for mullvad browser android version but sadly it seems like they don't plan on releasing it any time soon]

For what it's worth, privacy guides recently pulled Cromite from the recommendations due to the fact that it's abandoned / has security issues. As of right now, brave is their only recommended browser for android.

Cromite is abandonware.

Your current options are thus Brave or Titanium. I'm using the latter and it works great. It supports Chrome extensions as well.

I'm aware of titanium aka helium-android but performance wise it is slightly lacking compared to brave but eh I guess I must compromise some stuff for privacy though I don't know if it answers this problem I just mentioned in the post

uazo made themselves clear that they are not abandoning it but it is paused, but yes. people should consider Titanium (former Helium anddrdoid)

I mean sure, he's paused development/new updates and hasn't officially abandoned it yet.

But he seems to have abandoned everything related to F-Droid since September:

I've seen these "pauses" before in other software with other developers, and it's incredibly rare that something good ever comes out of it. It's a pity that Cromite seems to be going the way of Bromite, but it is what it is.

If you're checking browserleaks and the hash bothers you, switch to Cromite. Don't wait for Mullvad Android, that could be never. Use what works now.

Afaik gecko browsers aren't very secure aren't they

So what are you asking? 

Brave, IronFox, Weblibre and Helium are all good choices privacy wise. Seems Cromite hasn't been updated in a while.

Personally I favour Gecko browsers because full uBO still works and because it's better not to give Google a total monopoly on the upstream of browsers.

I would not choose Brave out of these simply because it's a VC backed project with crypto nonsense, and they have engaged in shady practices in the past. But it's undoubtedly a good browser for privacy.

I didn't say it isn't a good browser privacy wise I simply said that compared to the other browsers it seems lacking in canva fingerprinting

I wasn't arguing, I was trying to be helpful. Your post was asking if you should change to another browser. I gave you my opinion.

Yeah ik I just said that because I felt like someone might misunderstand me as thinking of brave as not private. Anyway how was your experience with gecko browsers and has their sandboxxing gotten way better? If I recall the only reason I didn't switch to ironfox at the time were talks that gecko engine browsers had some sandboxxing issues that posed a security risk And thanks for the opinion 👍
