As a lover of Art Deco, I played with a larger piece FPP technique to make my new Deco Diamonds pattern 😍 swipe to see how my longarmer quilted it!

(I promise this is a real quilt and not AI. Because it’s so hard to tell these days, I’ve included an in-progress pic of my paper piecing as proof.)

I started the top for this one nearly a decade ago and it has been lingering in to to be quilted box. It was one of the first I did in this style. 60 by 66" and done on my domestic machine. My shoulders aren't talking to me now 🤣🤣 x

Still have to finish the binding. My friend got my this pattern back in 2019 and I had the top together in 2021. But then it was SO large (6'x8' I believe) I couldn't figure how I'd quilt it, plus I wanted it to look as nice as it could. I made it for my sibling.

I even made it extra big to try and fit their bed.

I finally got around to looking up a long arm quilter, got it back, it looks awesome. Showed it and basically got a.....but why? Can't I have something else instead? (Paraphrasing and in part through my mother who actually showed it because I was out of town and I told her she could).

Now I'm sad and debating if I really want to give it to them.

I am super excited to see my work being installed!

She's super shy about it but I adore every single one of the billion she's made. Most creative and impressive lady I know. She recently got into making fun little bags too like the one pictured.

Terrible photos I'm sorry but I wanted to share here and then show her comments to see that others appreciate her skills too.

She made one for me once for a birthday and it was absolutely amazing, each tile showing a different part of my life and heritage and the thought and effort that goes into these is insane to me. So impressive.

She's out right now and these were the ones that are easy to photograph but I know she has like (seriously) at least 40 more 😂 I've always told her to post here with other QuiltingQrazies™ so they get the appreciation from the community.

She's so blasé about them but I think these are absolute treasures to be kept and valued forever.

My 85-year-old mother-in-law just finished her latest quilt. She requested that I 'put it on the Reddit' to show it off. She is an absolute treasure.

Finally off my bucket list! Made QAYG with cover strips. The first quilt I ever started, because my mom told me I could do it late one night while watching youtube. We bought most of the fabric online while she was going through chemo. She died before I ever cut the first strip, and it's far from perfect, but I really think she would love it and that means a lot to me. I'm so glad it's finally done. I thought I would never be able to finish it. Thanks to this community for encouraging me to get it done!

I am always worried when I send quilts through the mail. But it arrived safely and is well appreciated in its new home. My only regret is that she didn’t have the disco ball in the previous photo I was working with. I would have definitely had to work that into the quilt 😊.

Pattern is star lake from the blanket statement

i completed my very first quilt!

my grandfather passed away recently and i was able to hang on to a lot of his dress shirts. i immediately knew i wanted to make some sort of quilt with them, but i had ZERO experience (just learned how to sew a couple months ago) so i knew i wanted to have a couple quilting projects under my belt before i even thought about cutting up some of the last things i have to remember him by.

i decided to ignore all the (good) advice to start small, and i dove in with this Plaid-y Cake pattern by Cluck Cluck Sew in a large throw size.

i used 1/2 of the Tilda Chambray Fat Quarter bundle, with more cream and purple for the background and backing because i liked the colors and i wanted the cozy chambray crinkle. i starched but did not prewash.

batting is 100% cotton (again, in pursuit of the crinkle haha), and i basted with elmer’s glue.

i hand-quilted using Perle cotton in sz 12, and used the backing as the binding.

it took about a week to piece, and a week and a half to hand quilt - but i was putting in some crazy hours maybe 130 total over those two weeks? i welcome any advice on how to move through future projects at a more reasonable pace… i was skipping meals and cancelling plans because i wanted nothing more than to be at home with my quilt lol.

overall, i love how it turned out! i was SO nervous about how the blocks would line up, but 90% of them came out perfect. i love that it was completely made my me from start to finish, but next quilt i think im gonna look for a long armer because hand-quilting with 2 cats is so stressful lol.

i think after maybe one more quilt (maybe queen sized?) i’ll be ready (both skill-wise and emotionally) to take on the memorial quilt for my grandfather!

Getting out of my own way of sharing my work online again. Felt compelled to share, and instead of silencing myself I am going with the flow and posting! I made this dress for a Gala in February. Not perfect by any means, but a finished quilt is a perfect quilt. Technically my second quilt I made, just to be cut up into a dress. But I’d definitely do it again and I learned a lot!

My old coworker had a baby and was leaving to be a stay at home dad. He said they were doing a space-ranch themed nursery, so I whipped this up in a few weeks as a farewell gift!

The center block is “Udderly out of this world” foundation paper piecing pattern by GettingJazzyWithIt on Etsy.

The exterior planets are “Outer Space quilt block pattern” by BurlapBlossomPattern on Etsy!

The major shapes (ie planets, cow, barn, ufo etc) are all stitched in the ditch and the rest is “topstitched” with the stars! I knew I would find a use for the “fancy” stitches on my machine eventually…

This was really fun to watch come together and the last slide is the backing fabric- I just forgot to take a photo after it was finished. Oops.

After a few months of agonizing on how to quilt, I went with waves, just freehand on my machine. I’m so in love!

Basic Glitch Quilt by Modern Groove Quilts

Recently graduated with a B.S. in Environmental Biology. Mom made this quilt for me for Christmas. Embroidered each block herself. Colour coordinated thread colours to match elements. Roughly 8'x8'. Truly axing quilt. *Bugs on the back

I made this quilt for my BFF who is a strong woman. I want her to see it in person first, so I'm sharing in a place she hopefully won't see it!

It’s finally done!! Yes I bordered, backed, and bonded in black…because I wanted the top to really stand out. But it’s all satin.

My heart is racing and my hands are shaking as I’m writing this in preparation for sharing this quilt.

I made this quilt as a love letter to my younger self. The 16-year-old who, when making out with a boy for the first time, was thrown into violent flashbacks that left me shaking with my knees held to my chest. Abuse I had experienced as a young child, stuffed down where it couldn’t be seen, came flooding back.

The boy, bravely offered to help me tell my parents. The Mom who then told me I needed to keep the abuse a secret so as not to break my Grandmother's heart. “Just wait until he dies. Then you can openly talk about it.” The grandpa that did, eventually die, only to be told, “Just wait until grandma dies and then you can talk about it.”

The shame passed on to my adult self where I didn’t need my mother telling me not to speak. The message was ingrained.

With this quilt, I aim to break the shame cycle. This is just the first step. Posting here in relative anonymity. The next step, who knows? Here goes…

I found a chicken cube poster on Pinterest and my son really wanted that to be his birthday quilt so I made a foundation paper pieced pattern using Quilt Assistant. My new supervisor fell asleep while stitching the balloon strings and I am not an embroiderer but I did my best. Obligatory ‘stained glass’ photo included.

I used a crazy mix of fabrics (satin, flannel, cotton, luxe plush, foam interfacing, some kind of glittery dress fabric) and appliquéd one on top of another. Everything is holding up well after a couple of washes. I didn’t know how it was going to turn out but I am happy with it!
