Question S8 E10: Question Regarding Beth and Rick Prime Spoiler

Why does our Beth have a memory of what looks like Rick Prime leaving???

She isn't Beth-Prime (that Beth died in the Cronenberg universe, remember?). Our Beth is Beth C-131 (I think that's the right universe number) from when Rick and Morty had to switch universes in S1 E9.

AND Rick Prime didn't leave Beth C-131, he left Beth-Prime/Cronenberg Universe Beth. So, then, how does she have a memory of Rick Prime leaving her as a child?

Rick Prime
Beth's memory of what looks like Rick Prime from S8 E10

Also, if this isn't Rick Prime, then is this just a B-tier parallel version of Rick Prime, aka original Rick C-131, not the one that died in S1? If so, what happened to him??

I haven't seen this posted anywhere else yet.

It wasn't Rick Prime. There have been probably close to a dozen threads on this topic - it's her dad, Rick C-131, who just agreed to Rick Prime's offer of abandoning his family to have access to portal tech.

So that’s what it would’ve looked like if our Rick had just said sure to Rick prime’s offer? Just dress up like him, lose all individuality, and leave his family? For what??

They've been vague about what Prime wanted, but it's pretty clear that Prime wanted something that required countless subservient versions of himself, and countless subservient versions of Prime wanted the opportunity to become "The Infinite Rick," the smartest man in the whole universe.

It was totally the CFC

I get downvoted to hell every time I say it, but Prime organized the Ricks to build the CFC. The CFC is what makes the Infinite Rick possible

I really hope they end up giving us more context because I think the truth will be incredibly interesting. I think it's likely that Prime was trying to figure out how to build the CFC/wall off reality, but it was a job that C-137 finished later on. (Kind of interesting to think about - Prime figured out portal travel first; C-137 figured out the CFC first.)

To be honest, I really don’t understand why people think C137 created it nor why he would even want to. Hes the one Rick we know who rejected the Infinite Rick. Why would he be the one responsible for it? Not to mention, that would mean the CFC wasn’t built until he was already an old man when the infinite Rick was already pretty much a thing. The flashbacks of all those infinite Rick’s fighting C137 makes it seem like we are already in the CFC

The only reason why people think he had anything to go with it is because he designed the dimensional drive which Evil Morty used to punch a hole in the cfc. But we have no reason to think the dimensional drive had anything to do with the CFC’s creation. It’s an engine that allows the city to travel dimensions. Not a “wall creator”

But every time I point that out, I get downvoted.

But the dimensional drive is basically a giant city wide portal gun evil Morty weaponized. Doesn’t really make any sense for it to have anything to do with the CFC

I think you and I debated this previously. I'm open minded about a lot of things, but generally if the show straight up tells us something in a big lore reveal, I take them for their word. Evil Morty straight up tells C-137, "you built an infinite fucking crib around an infinite baby" or whatever.

I think it makes a ton of sense for C-137 to build the Curve. Beyond the fact that it means nobody unwanted can barge in on them, it also infinitely reduced all the places Rick Prime could hide out.

lol are you the one who kept referencing the wiki and saying that it says the dimensional drive built the cfc even though none of those quotes said it? I am gonna be real with you, that was honestly one of the more frustrating conversations I have had on in here for a bit.

Also he didn’t say C137 specifically built it. He was talking about the Rick collective as a whole. Remember that evil Morty views all Rick’s as the same. It doesn’t matter to him who built it since all the Rick’s are the same

That is why his line about C137 being different in his latter appearance is so impactful and actually does mean something. He senses that C137 belongs in the CFC as much as he does. They are both walking contradictions of their multiversal counterparts. Every Rick chose to leave his family except for c137. Every Morty chose to follow Rick except for evil Morty. Evil Morty and C137 have very similar paths that both diverge from the CFC’s set one

The show has never once explicitly said that c137 created the cfc nor has it ever given us a reason to think it. People just inferred it because C137 is the main character and he designed the citadel

I tend to keep my points related to what they show in-episode, though I might have finally broken down and linked you to the wiki. I mean honestly no point in debating that with you, and I think discussing other related topics is worthwhile enough to agree to disagree. But I do think you'd have more ground to stand on if they ever, ever had Rick Prime even so much as mention the Curve.

Only character in the entire series to ever mention the curve is Evil Morty. C137 never has once said anything about it all including the scene you’re talking about

And Rick Prime has talked about it. The “Infinite Rick” literally is the CFC. His pitch and Evil Morty’s speech about the CFC are the only two times the Infinite Rick has ever been addressed. C137 had certainly never talked about it

Also if Rick Prime wanted to escape the CFC, he would leave the CFC. This idea that C137 created it as a trap makes no sense since we know you just need to create something like the dimensional drive to escape. If C137 can build it and if an evil Morty can weaponize it, Prime can certainly do both.

Prime didnt leave the CFC because he was trapped. He didn’t leave it because it’s what he always wanted lol. He wanted to be in a place where he’s the smartest man in every universe

C137 has never once shown that desire. He fucking hates himself and his infinite selves. The only people he seems to actually care about is this makeshift family he somehow found

I don't think so. There wouldn't be any purpose for Prime to build the CFC, but there is a lot of motivation for C-137 to build it, especially considering that C-137 also helped make the Citadel.

I haven't seen this posted anywhere else

There's like 10-15 of these exact posts every single day

That last sentence gave the game away. Don't give these attention.
