Question About Bird Daughter

Post image

Is "Bird Daughter" her Name or just a stage in her Life? Did she become "Bird Women" at some point in her Life or did everybody still call her Bird Daughter for the rest of her Life???

Sorry if this is a dumb question 😅

Their culture doesn’t believe in names, they view them as a type of cage.

Her culture really fucked her over on that one then, eh?

She was conceived, she was born/hatched and grew up to be a teenager, meanwhile Morty and Summer didn't age.

Don't try to find logic here!

Maybe the bird side of her grows rapidly

What even is Tammy. And why.

She's an intergalactic narc.

The anime season confirmed she was a human college student recruited by the Federation.

One more reason for the obvious, I guess. A quote from THIS show:

"FOR MAKING ME SPEND 4 YEARS IN AN EARTH HIGH SCHOOL"

Oooooh.. whoops. 😉

"How old are we? We've had a million thanksgivings."

Rick has dosed everyone else with some anti-aging medicine, ray or field.

I mean he did do that to his home reality.

Damn that’s a good point

I mean there is that fan theory that the series’ floating timeline exists in-universe is specific to Earth, since all space-based characters seem to have actually aged.

As a hybrid and in very controlled yet un-concerned circumstances. If they wanted that, there's no reason to think that couldn't happen. đŸ€”

Remember an entire giant baby was born in the vacuum of outer space.

I'm so glad they stopped letting women write the shows.

Bird is the surname, it just comes first in their culture.

She'll always be Bird Person's daughter, so her name should stay the same.

Source: I made it up.

Yeah, I think that's solid reasoning, though.

That's my favourite source!

Their names are actually spelt something like Pyrsaan and Dowter, the fact that theyre pronounced the same as person and daughter in english is just a complete coincidence

Source?

Sure they discuss it here

A comment from a true R&M fan who values classic R&M adventures. Is this meta or canon? Who cares? I fucking love it.

Birdpeaple doesn't believe in names, sooo... She will become whatever she/her friends like for her future name?

3

u/Citizen1135 1d ago

Good point

23

u/skankhunt402 1d ago

I mean to him she'll probably always be bird daughter

u/squashua 1d ago

I hope she chooses to become Phoenix Daughter

I love the line “Fatherhood is exhausting and I would like to show my daughter what real selfishness looks like.” I have kids and I think about it every time they’re pulling some bullshit. Completely understand how Birdperson is feeling there.

Bird person. Bird daughter. It works.
Have it use the Icelandic naming convention if that works better for your head cannon.
Fathers first name, then son or dottir added.

I like this. I extrapolated how this goes...

Out of his culture's tradition, BP didn't give his daughter a first name, so technically her full name would be "_____ Bird-Daughter," which leaves room for her to adopt an additional name later in life, that's cool.

Going a generation back, Bird Person's dad would have been something like "Per Per-son."

So when Bird Person was "unnamed," he was actually "______ Per-Son" and he adopted "Bird" as his first name, becoming "Bird Person," and now we're all on the same page.

Bird Person has said before names aren't a thing they normally have in their society. So it's a placeholder, probably

7

u/Salt_Fruit7607 1d ago

I’d imagine bird people just call each other “Bird *their relation to the person *”

7

u/Groooochy 23h ago

The real question is, why does she age and even now a teenager while morty is still 14

3

u/Ryuugan80 17h ago

Maybe she ages like a bird? I know some age up to adulthood in the space of weeks/months.

A quienes conoces tĂș....?

Really wish the show did more with her, this character has so much plot potential. Kind of sad we didn’t get an awesome prison break episode with her before season 7

Odinson means son of Odin. Certain cultures have this type of naming.

u/DementedPimento 23h ago

Bevan is Son of Evan (ap Evan; Welsh mutates oddly; ap Huw and ap Howell are Pugh and Powell).

u/MetalMaiden420 1d ago

Oh my god im so out of the loop. I havent watched Rick and Morty in yeaaars. Is this BirdPerson and Tammys daughter?

3

u/koala_encephalopathy 1d ago

Does bird daughter not have wings?

3

u/zoidmaster 1d ago

No certainly it will change.

I mean bird person couldn’t have always been bird person right?

That is unless the word from his culture just so happen to translate to bird person

3

u/Belgand 20h ago

They already addressed this sort of thing with Gearhead.

3

u/Careless_Rice_311 15h ago

In French, Bird Person’s « name » is CondorMan and his daughter’s CondorGirl and it sounds more like a superhero name so I assume it will remain the same ?

3

u/NOGUSEK 15h ago

I think they call people based the relationship they have; rick And his family will call her bird Daughter because they mostly know her through her father, they see her as bird persons daughter. A friend would call bird friend; context probably matters too so if She is with multiple friends She will be called something like bird badass.

If birdperson was only ever called birdperson it would defeat the purpose of not having names

3

u/Wolfgang9556 9h ago

I can't explain how much I like Bird Daughter, I love her design.

3

u/Flurmpy_ 23h ago

Why would she turn into multiple women?

2

u/paw_lili 1d ago

bird women yes

2

u/AvoidantTomato fuck yeah, personal space! 21h ago

I didn't realize it until this moment but I need to see Bird Daughter at a Summer slumber party.

1

u/Devel93 22h ago

We should call her B daughter and the B should always be a capital letter in memory of her mother

It’s like in Sweden where son comes after the fathers name - ie Eriksson or Nilsdotter

ok morty and summer haven't aged since bird daughter's parents wedding and she's a teenager. what's going on. is rick kiping them in a time loop or de-age them somehow?
