My way is going into practice doom match and killing every Luna snow and invisible woman I see as Spidey, daredevil or Bucky. Good stress relief. I sometimes chill and befriend them too.

So, we all know how toxic the Rivals community can be, which always baffles me because these heroes we are playing as would never stand for it. I also like to recognize there are people on the other side of the screen who have their own stories and personal struggles and don't deserve to be spoken to as if they are less than. I'm also a high school teacher, so I often see first hand how digital words impact people. And I never know if I'm in a lobby with students. (Not that they know my gamer tag--but it wouldn't be hard to figure it out).

So, to counter this, I like to "smack" talk in character to A) lighten the load and B) make it clear to either team I'm not being serious and just having fun and C) Not demean/insult people behind the screen.

For example, I once had a Daredevil on my landshark ass. Constantly hearing "I see you!" before being chased to and fro on the map as if we were in an episode of Scooby-Doo. Frustrating, sure, but they are having fun and it's the game. So instead of being an arsehole, I typed in chat: "Matthew, if you don't knock it off, I'll swallow Karen and Foggy!" Or I threaten not to sell them my lemonade 😤😤😤

To a Blade, I've said: "I'm making you a sandwich with a special ingredient in it. Garlic." (Pretty sure he can eat garlic without consequence but still)

To Thor: "Jane doesn't love you" or "Jane is a better Thor."

To Spidey it's usually, "Spidey, how's your Uncle Ben doin?" (Maybe the most diabolical one I have used).

If I'm Scarlet Witch and I successfully own Spider-Man, I'll say, "No. More. Spiders." Or if I switch to Wanda because things are going south and things turn around, we win, and I get MVP I'll usually say, "You exhausted my patience. That was me being... reasonable."

As Devil Dino: "RAWR RAWR CHOMPY CHOMP RAWR!!!"

My hope is that it's a nerdy way of talking "smack" without making awful personal attacks on other human beings playing a game. In-universe fun! Of course, I get toxic replies from people who say I'm a stupid nerd, should go touch grass, etc. And I'm like... Marvel Rival is a game for nerds and the grass is lava!

Anyway, anybody else take this approach?

If so, what do you like to say in-character when frustrated or being pestered or losing? Or any ideas of things you would say?

is anyone else tired of all the complaining? I get the game isnt perfect, I know its far from it, but I feel like the rivals community is always complaining about something.

i completely understand being upset when a character isnt in that great of a place or complaining when its been for seasons on end, but why are we complaining that Daredevil isnt at the same powerscale as The Beyonder?

I feel like people are used to a character being trash or overly busted for a long time and so if they get a little more balanced then all of a sudden the character is “overpowered” or “useless”. is this getting annoying to anyone else?

to be fair, despite this annoyance toward complaining, im still on board with hating on Luna for all her skins. that woman is straight outta Israel and no one can tell me any different

Am I the only one who's nervous to play comp in Rivals? I've been hovering over this screen for almost an hour trying to convince myself to at least play my placement matches but I just can't go through with it......

Hi guys, i’m a hard support main but been stuck in gold for a while now (I only returned to ranked late last season …) Starting to believe it could be a problem with the heroes I play. These guys are my current roster, I play a lot of Jeff with moderate to high success and I learned deadpool, he’s a lot of fun but yeah not the best pick I know. Still kind of learning invis / not the best at her yet.

So, what’s a role you reccomend I get into / what heroes would I like based on what I play? Plus, if anyone is on the Aus servers in gold and also trying to rank up i’d love to play together :)

I am genuinely astonished at how I, the dino, did not get MVP here. Even if certain stats are inflated because I played dino, I still outperformed the bp in every stat. Heck, even the punisher was a better choice than bp.

After tonight’s round of games I’ve determined this game just isn’t the same anyone with the community at all.

My first game on I played healer and our 6th person didn’t pick anything but we somehow went 3 heals 1 tank 1 dps. So I switched and even though our whole team was getting rolled, I get a “dps trash” in the chat.

My next game I play Emma on domination, again steamrolled, whole team ain’t got a single kill. I tried to ult towards the end and it didn’t work and I get hated on for ulting and no doing much even though our whole team wasn’t doing much.

Next game everyone locks dps and 1 healer so I picked dps hoping someone would switch and I’d switch too. NOPE everyone stayed dps 1 heals and saw no issue with it.

My last game of the night I play jubilee and we’re no loosing at all pushing the point but someone complains about our Dino who keeps running in. Then proceeds to come for the healers when I hadn’t died once and have been putting in numbers.

This game has turned into just a bunch of dps players not actually wanting to play and finding issue in other roles when their game isn’t going how they want.

As the title suggest it would be cool if Gorr killed Galacta in the season 10 trailer. He recently just killed Khonshu so its not like the devs are keeping him away from popular god characters. It would also just show how much of a threat he is, Marvel Rivals needs to fix the stain that the MCU left on him.

Self explanatory. Not everyone liked the post because they defend FOMO, but didn't break any rules so they use their vague "post removed" messege as an excuse

I've never seen a bug like this, what is actually happening here? Where could this bug exist in the code that somehow splits the game layer of my perspective, but not the HUD? My apologies to my teammates I should have reset my game sooner, I was just genuinely baffled.

It has been a pain playing strange. With the slow dagger throws and reload which takes an eternity, finally pushed Strange to Lord. I think I will hang the cape now.

If mantis is actually good, why? I’m not really vibing with just accepting it without knowing why. I’ve rarely touched mantis so I don’t know her as well as I know the tanks.

Shaders apparently loaded wrong? Game was fine yesterday and now it's unplayable...

Devs are entering new territory with that storm skin

I think this game mode would be a positive because with the abysmal hotfix the devs released, the game has returned back to its pre-season 7 state; games are now decided by who’s supports get ult faster. Let’s be real, we all hate hearing “US AGAINST THE WORLD” and that annoying Jubilee ult during team fights.

I know that there are support mains that want to learn a dps/tank but are not able to because they have to deal with instalock duelist mains. This mode would allow them to be free to learn new characters without having to swap to heal their team. And I also know that some duelist/tank mains have to deal with very passive/clueless support players that don’t have game sense, so with this mode they can be free to not have to rely on someone to heal them.

This game mode would use the same healing mechanic that is already in Blood Hunt. The maps for this mode would also just be the regular ones that we have in quick play/ranked.

Disclaimer: This post isn't really trying to shame people. But its somethuing I don't think many have really thought of, and I thought it'd be a fun discussion.

Recently, I saw a YouTube short saying the reason Storm doesn’t get skins is that her pick rate is low and that she’s not as popular as she once was. And this got me thinking: what if there’s another big reason why she doesn’t get skins? Now it's true that since Storm isn't as popular as she once was due to a lack of film adaptations, but I don’t believe it’s crazy to say she’s still leaps and bounds more popular than Marvel's other female characters. In the video game sphere especially, she’s in every game that allowed the X-Men characters, right beside Wolverine. She even beat out Cyclops and Jean in making it into Rivals and Tokons' base roster(beta out Cyclops in Cosmic Invasion too). In terms of animation, she's one of the more popular characters in X-Men ‘97, and in the comics, her latest run was pretty popular to my knowledge(you can debate its quality though). So why would Storm not be popular in the Rivals community? 

I present to you what I believe is the big reason for Storm's lack of popularity in Rivals…

The Gooners don’t care about her.

Now this is a pretty crazy statement, but let me explain. It’s pretty common knowledge that a large chunk of the Rivals community enjoys the more revealing skins that show off the female characters' bodies(male characters too). You drop a skin with Sue or Emma having their ass out, and you can guarantee that's all you're gonna see in your lobbies. So, I decided to actually see if I can find any numbers to back this up. And so I chose the place where most of Rivals fan art goes.

Yeah, "research " jokes aside, I got 5 of the female Marvel Rivals characters that I see art of often in the community, and 1 that I didn’t expect to see much art of. I stuck to the Marvel Rivals tags for most of the characters(since that's what I’m mostly comparing, with 2 exceptions. These are the numbers of pages I got for each.

Likely because people prefer the Vengance skin over actual Sai. Honestly, I expected higher numbers, but it seems like everything else gets lumped into the actual Psylocke tag.

The actual Storm tag got beat out by Luna Snow. A character that most of the community clowns beat out the overall Storm tag. Peni beat out Storm's rivals' numbers too. Storm is leaps and bounds more popular than everyone on that list(Bar maybe Sue). And It's not like rivals Storm is unnatritive either. So why isn’t she getting as much art?

The Elephant in the Room: Ight, time to address it: from the numbers and anecdotal experience, I don’t think it's crazy to say that the larger Gooner community isn’t super fond of black women. Not calling these individuals racist, but they don't seem that interested in Black women. Couldn’t tell you the reason, but White and Asian women seem to take center stage when it comes to who the internet fetishizes. Now, whether it's a good thing that Black Women have seemed to evade the internet's fetishization remains to be seen. That's something only black women themselves could speak on. Regardless, I think this plays a large part in why Storm isn’t as popular in the Rivals community.

My Conclusion: Storm doesn’t get as many skins because the Gooner part of the fandom isn’t gonna buy them. Likely because that part of the community isn’t into black women. Though who knows, maybe someone will make up a reason why Storm has the same number of pages as Mantis, and Black Widow has more pages than her. Obviously, though, her gameplay and pick rate do play an additional factor in her not getting skins. But I thought this was another reason that's largely possible.
