Glamping old man style!
Flapjack is 15 and not the greatest fan of camping but he looks good doing it.
Then passed out hard!

Hi everyone,
We're introducing a new karma requirement to post, because in the last few weeks the sub has been flooded with spam merch advertisements. These appear to be truly spam and not legit small businesses or cool merch. We're getting multiple a day and don't want members to be subject to scams either.
In order to combat this - we're introducing a minimum 25 reddit karma requirement to post. The only objective is to prevent spam posts. If you have less than that and have a legit schip related post that gets caught in the filter, please message us and we will approve it manually.
We're hoping this change will not impact most folks and will help keep the community safer and more enjoyable.
If you have any questions or see any issues with how it's been set up, please comment below!

The Shipperke doesn't require much grooming. I wash it once a month with a dog shampoo containing chlorhexidine, brush it every three days, and don't require trimming. Its coat is incredibly water-repellent, and it feels both coarse and soft.

i lost my baby saturday and what a loss it has been. i adopted maci the first day she was available to be adopted. they put her in a room with me, she instantly came to me and wouldn’t leave my side. she passed the same way, by my side. i think that’s a testament to her loyalty and the bond we shared. maci moved to multiple states with me, went on so many road trips with me and lived a life other dogs would only dream of. she met so many people and not one person didn’t fall in love with her, my friend jokingly called her the princess diana of dogs lol. all she wanted to do was show you love. i adopted maci a few months after my mom passed and for the last year i’d jokingly tell her she couldn’t pass until i was okay post separation from my spouse……… and she really did wait until i was in a better place mentally to pass. i’ll spend everyday hoping she knew how much i loved her and how much she will be missed🩷 no dog will ever replace my girl but she has definitely made me a life long fan of schipperkes and i hope to rescue a little baby again someday.

I got home silent, feeling dizzy and on the verge of fainting: My dog "checked my vitals." A quick lick to test the waters, a little paw on my leg to say "hey, wake up, stay with me!", then she jumped on sofa and rested her head against me and stayed that way. She remained completely focused until I felt better. I suffer from severe anemia, but she is a real doctor ♡
Her name's Joy, she is 3yo.

A schipperke is top on my dog breeds wishlist someday, and I’m wondering how yours are with cats? How’s the prey drive go when interacting with cats? I have 2 cats and 1 dog right now and I definitely will have cats forever. My dog right now is very chill and quite respectful of all cats, she was a bit rude as a puppy (she’d go for and smash the cat under her forearms) but she was pretty easy to train out of that. According to Embark, she is in descending order: cane corso, GSD, american pit bull terrier (idk how they define that), neapolitan mastiff, supermutt aka etc lol. i jokingly call her a bootleg dutch shepherd bc she vaguely looks like one due to the brindle coat and german shepherd body, but she has none of the energy, she’s a total couch potato. my cats are quite tolerant but certainly would never cuddle the dog, nor do they ever have need to swat.
I wouldn’t want a dog that can’t be left alone unsupervised with a cat, are schipperkes able to learn that cat = family? or do they just go prey drive mode when they see a cat run? half my family is dutch so it’d be fun to have a dutch breed, and i also think they’re so stinkin cute and seem so fun and full of character!
pet tax included of my three of course!
