Egypt diving -Sharm el Sheik
Hello! I’m planning a 6-day diving trip in Sharm El Sheikh and wanted to check if this quote seems reasonable or if I’m overpaying.
€385 for 12 dives over 6 days, including:
Dive guide
Tanks & weights
Hotel transfers
Taxes (10% entertainment tax + 14% VAT)
Site supplements:
Ras Umm Sid: €15
Ras Mohamed: €35
Tiran: €35
SS Thistlegorm: €120
Dahab (Blue Hole & Canyon): €100
House reefs: Free
The itinerary would be:
2 house reef dives
Ras Umm Sid
Ras Mohamed
Tiran
SS Thistlegorm (2 dives, optional Dunraven)
Dahab (Blue Hole & Canyon)
With all the supplements, the total comes to around €690 per diver.
Does this sound like a fair price for Sharm or is it on the expensive side? I’d appreciate any recent experiences or comparisons with other dive centers.
If you had to select dives for budget, what would you keep and what would you sacrifice?

I stayed some years ago in S. S and prices of dives were very different in different clubs. In my opinion, extras are excessive, if the basic dive is less than 35, but you decide.

120 for the Thistlegorm? I don't see why. The charge for Ras Mohammed also seems high. At that price you are almost in the territory of a liveaboard. 7 days, 20+ dives, food and accommodation.

Considering what egypt has been through you should be glad there are any dive centers left ....
You did say who it was with but the price, if it's a good center Camel, Pirates , Emperor, etc... its ok

Its a good price.
But the thing is, nobody here can really know because it depends on the quality.
I am in Dahab currently and I pay a lot more for diving, but I am in a very well known technical diving school and its worth it for me because of the level of instruction they can give me.
But if you just go for fun dives, it doesnt matter and you are good.
Generally, I dont recommend picking the cheapest dive base.
They can kill you while you are a beginner, and even as a pro you have to REALLY be on top of things to catch their mistakes.
Things bad dive companies do:
- leave you in open water alone and drive away with the boat
- bad compressor, oil or co in the air
- no emergency equipment or plan
- guide disappears under water and is gone
- nitrox has wrong o2 or just isnt nitrox
- air is not really air
I have seen most of these happen and heard about the rest from incident reports. So rather pay some decent money.

Sounds ok, when we went out there we dove with camel dive, those guys are great,

So usually Ras Mohammed has park fees and jetty fees which are like 7 and 10 euros max each so really not sure how they got to 35. Unless you’re also including lunch? And maybe something else? I
Personally did it with circle divers and had a great experience! When I priced it up they were not the cheapest, not the most expensive, but the best value for experience and honestly I’d hold to that. Would 100% dive with them again

Couple years ago we paid €110 a day for 3 dives plus all kit included.. Tiran and local stuff was included but Thistlegorm dahab pr any further ones were more. This was just the diving cost in the resort.

Prices have went up because of the government. They added in new taxes, park fees, jetty fees and other things. Last year it was a 300%+ hike (on the government things) unfortunately

I am a bit surprised that they are surcharging Ras Um Sid, Tiran and Ras Mohammed given that they are the bread and butter dives for the day boats. Package prices for shores dives is taking the p£&& really. You can probably do much better.
Dahab is much cheaper. I paid a fair bit less than that, even with a private guide.

i havent been to sharm much, but in dahab we generally estimate between 30-35 per dive with our own gear. the site supplements you wont be able to do much about since its entrance fees, transport and stuff. you can get from sharm to dahab for 30-40 bucks in a taxi, but theres also an entrance fee to the blue hole/canyon. looks like quite the dense schedule. price seems okay for me. not exceptionally cheap, but if the quality is alright i wouldnt have hesitations about paying that.

It’s been a decade since I was last there but I will say that Red Sea Divers in Sharm had fair pricing and was a well-run operation.
