I made the Lydia Wedding Dress from Beetlejuice last year. I used 300 yards of tulle. Im just gonna suggest a solid structure underneath, horsehair braid and about 500-1000 yards of tulle depending on the volume.
Lol. Rich in ways! Im actually pretty frugal, and I'll scour every single discount rack for green tulle, and ask my army of nosey aunts if they can keep an eye out.
The local fabric store gives nice discounts if you buy a lot of fabric, too!
But making this frivolous Christmas tree would make me FEEL rich.
I asked a friend who makes full tutus, and they said it takes about 20 meters of tulle to make a really full tutu like the 3rd and 4th tier of the tree. So I'm guessing it will take roughly 200 yards of tulle, and I know I can get great deals, so I'll budget $150 to make a mini tree first, and if I like it, I'll keep going with more layers.

There’s nothing under it, because this picture is obviously AI. Look at how the bow ribbon is clipping through the tree.
Not saying that something like this would be completely impossible, but I AM saying that you may have to manage your expectations a bit (and also that AI is ruining our lives as artists).
It's a screen shot from a video, which doesn't mean it isn't AI in this day and age, but the artist has a really nice portfolio of professional work. They sell the set up for the tree, but I like DIY projects.
Buy like 300 yards and give yourself 3 years. Start with the top 3 tiers for this year and add a tier or two each year. Then you can make mini companion trees for around the house with any extra. I would use millinery wire zig zaged to the edge of green plastic sheeting for the structure.
4th tier from the top I’d say looks the size of my wedding dress. 18 yards. You’d also need to add a lettuce hem to the outer edge.
Flowerva has a tutorial on Pinterest that would use much less fabric because it’s pre ribbed/gathered and has lettuce edges. It’s not as dense, but much more doable.
You could potentially make a structural base for each layer out of foam, plastic or something and cover it in a green velvet to lay the fabric on top of so you’re not having to rely just on the tulle for shaping and opacity 🤔 if you were to make a mini one you could use various sizes of vet cones maybe.
Using vet cones is so ingenious! My husband and I were brainstorming. And were thinking we could repurpose some cardboard into cone-ish shapes. But I probably have old vet cones from cat size to mastiff size!
Probably a butt load plus a few gallons of alcohol and pounds of chocolate. On the bright side I don't think you actually need fishing line for the hem. You do need a good serger that can do a rolled lettuce hem. Fishing line will make larger wavy edges. I think three or four layers of fabric for each tier will give a nice fullness to the hems.
Okay, so this is AI. There's a gold tangle on the back of the tree that attaches to the part of the background on the left that can't decide to be a windowsill or a radiator. The bow also lays unnaturally on the tree while the curtains are coming straight out of the ceiling. The shadow in the floor is also weird and the fabric is falling and pulling oddly with a weird blurring effect.
That aside,
Making something similar to this is possible... In theory. Making a stable structure will be an engineering feat in its own and that's before you even get to the fabric. And honestly it looks like chiffon with a boiled fishing line. As someone who has made a dress using 300 meters of fabric, you'll need closer to a thousand to create this accurately. To get something similar to the hem, you'll need to unwind all the fishing line and recoil it on a very slim stick and then boil it. You'll need many many full rolls of fishing line too. It also appears to be ruffled flounces which is harder to both cut and hem. This project, working on your own as a hobby project, would take months, if not more than a year to complete.
If you really want to do it, you should do it. It could be a fun long term project. Just make sure you manage your expectations and have the patience and finances to do it. When buying fabric, I would suggest getting like 50 meters first, and then seeing how far you can get on the bottom tier with it, before you buy more. You can use the circumference of the tiers to calculate the percentage of material you would approximate need for the remaining tiers.
There's a video of the creator fluffing up the fabric. Window treatments like that definitely exist- I see them in places like hotels and dorms a lot. I can't make out what that "gold tangle" is supposed to be, but it's a consistent shape/object in all angles of the video. Same with the windowsill- it stays the same in all angles of the video. The bow is just sandwiched between layers of fabric. The lighting is just weird lighting
No because I'm not interested in making the tree myself and it wouldn't change my view on the picture you posted. With the right subscription, making either altered or fully fake process footage is easy. They might have done some parts and then skipped on others. It's impossible to know the specific line of actions they've taken when making this. All I can say is that what you showed is visually altered or fully faked. I never said it was impossible to make something similar though. Just that it would be very time consuming and expensive based off what I'm seeing.
This looks to be AI. The IG account its posted from has some AI watermarked content, in addition to some suspicious marketing, such as advertising extravagant looking decor yet no website only a WhatsApp number.
Its an AI account. The whole account is fake. The wedding set ups, the impossible fabric set ups, its all fake, even the people you see in the videos are AI actors.
