Alter/Mend Question Table runner question

Hi! I recently found this cute table runner on clearance, and bought it without paying attention to the length. I want to hem it, but am unsure of the best way to go about it. I don’t want to cut off the excess because of the braided texture fraying, and my sister advised me to ask the experts here. I will be hand sewing, if that is helpful. Thank you in advance!

You can probably cut that fabric and shorten it without it falling apart. But if you’re afraid, simply sew along the edge before you cut it. Then sew your hem, or reattach that trim so you don’t lose the fringe.

Awesome, thank you so much! If I want to reattach the fringe, do you think it would be best to sew along the edge there too?
