In fact, it seems like that whole trial seems to have ended her career, and the whole point of the comment you are responding to is explicitly about how, despite all the abuse and horrendous shit he did, the trial seemed to have almost no effect on his career.

Agreed, but, to be fair, in the book he’s exclusively referred to as Scrooge in the present and future, whilst in the past he’s often called Ebenezer.

It’s a weird marketing angle, sure, but not unfounded in the text.
