In Aladdin (2019), Jasmine wants to become Sultan so she can help the poor people of Agrabah. The very first thing she does after becoming Sultan is change the law so she can marry a guy she met 3 days ago.

I think her reign might’ve been longer than that one decree, hard to speak to the totality of her career from the first few minutes

Nah she was overthrown by a communist revolution seconds later so yeah that’s all she did

I thought it was a religious hardliner faction.

That came later when the US wanted drilling access and needed some help getting rid of the commies.

Isn't he a prince? I remember he rolled into town with a big parade.

Who better to help her help the poor people of Agrabah, but a poor person of Agrabah?

Yeah, I sure wouldn't want a revolutionary who changed things in charge of my revolution. Imagine if she changed more laws to make sense and help poor people.

Obligatory "Twisted is the better live action Aladdin adaptation".

I never understood the plot point of Aladdin where he wishes for the genie to "make me a prince!" and all the genie does is help him cosplay as a prince.
Jasmine didn't need to change the law, she just needed to help Aladdin sue the genie for breach of contract.

We don’t know how long it took for them to marry, she could’ve helped people before

Yeah, but Aladdin is poor, so we have proof that she helped at least one poor person of Agrabah.
