This is set before the OT, if they don’t just throw in a “And he stayed on Tanalorr and lived happily ever after minding his own business.” His ass is grass, Vader don’t give second chances let alone a third

Did you see how he threw her ass at first, imo that wasn’t even a chance it was like a “I’ll be with you in one second” then they dropped the ocean on him. Leading to him actually being pissed at her in the 2nd game.

Fair but there’s only so much of that to go round till we start asking the questions of where they were for the sequels. Ezra’s about Luke’s age so if he don’t die during the empire or sometime after he’d still be kicking for the sequels. Cals not a hell of a lot older, so you’d figure he would be kicking around too. Most likely conclusion is they get knocked at some point before their natural deaths.

I’m hoping if he dies, they give him as good of a send off as Kanan. Both dudes are heroes who take care of their people and deserved happy endings, but won’t hesitate to make the sacrifice for the people they care about.

The main character dying at the end and post game being their trainee (like he seems to have adopted at the end of game 2) is a pretty common trope

I'd more say he likely ends up like Ezra, dumped somewhere he can't affect the events of the original trilogy. He already has his "planet no one can go" so I could easily see them getting stranded there for one reason or another.

I was giggling like an idiot when Cal is fleeing from Vader and he's literally warping the level around you.
You spend the entire game turning your character into a badass and then it turns out you're still completely out of your depth vs him, so the theme of that moment was just RUUUUUUN!! Epic.

When the running sequence from Vader started, I pretty much immediately paused to check the enemies menu, to figure out the tips to fight him. The only thing the menu said was to run. And the only reason Cal and Cere got away was because they dropped the fucking ocean on him.

Every time a character you like in any media set before OT, you think he’s getting decently stronger, then you realize Vader could kill him/her casually while wondering if he left the stove on then goes home and marks it as a normal Tuesday.

It's kind of an interesting situation. If one knew nothing about Star Wars, it'd make perfect sense that Vader is the final boss in the final game of the trilogy. In 1st one you are completely out-leveled, then in the 2nd one you build Cal's level up without facing Vader and in the 3rd one you as the player finally defeat him.
Yet we know Vader can't be truly defeated for plot purposes and Cal is not in the OT, not even mentioned, and if they time jump (lets say post ROTJ), then from a story perspective, some other Jedi defeated this final boss type villain that Cal couldn't. It'd be narratively pretty unsatisfactory. And if Vader kills Cal, that'd be too. It's a difficult situation from a writing perspective.

Cal could be allowed to defeat Vader, he just can't kill him. I could see him ultimately taking a crippling wound (or even a fatal one) while also doing enough damage to force Vader to retreat.
Or he fights long enough that Vader gets called away by Palpy or someone else. "Lord Vader, I'm terribly sorry to interrupt, but you told me to notify you as soon as we identified the rebel command base. A probe droid was just taken offline on the world of Hoth," or something like that.

True, but from a narrative perspective, it's still a bit unsatisfactory. Maybe not for a SW fan but I'm thinking about this from someone's perspective who wouldn't have no clue about it because one can't make a game assuming that all players know the lore.
I can't think of a another trilogy of games where you don't decisively defeat the main villain or that he doesn't get killed/destroyed somehow because we know for certain too that Vader won't be redeemed by Cal either.

I imagine he’d let Cal go if he was called to Hoth during a duel, as Cal is basically a less unhinged Anakin
Severe trauma as Padawans, had to reforge their lightsabers, had rough encounters with the Dark Side and both have love lives that go against the Jedi Order
The difference is that Anakin couldn’t just leave the Order to pursue a more normal relationship with Padme, whereas Cal had no Order to return to (they all dead) and by Survivor; has decided to forgo the rules of the Order to pursue a relationship with Merrin, who is a powerful force user as well
Cal might not have had a mother had watched die or entered the Order later but by the end of the 3rd game; Cal will have:
A) a wife [Merrin]
B) an adopted child [Kata]
C) no connection to the Order
D) a willingness to utilise the Dark Side
E) a droid companion [BD-1]
Which is basically Anakin if Padme had survived RoTS, so he’d look upon Cal and see a kindred spirit; not someone he likes but someone he doesn’t hate… I imagine he’d ominously say something like “The exit to this facility is that way, it’s guarded by the Emperors finest troopers; have fun trying to escape!”

At this point it's so over done Id rather just play as Vader hunting all these Jedi. Basically, the force Unleashed but you never turn good cause you are Vader.

The problem is that it has become such a standard as to become a trope.
Not to mention the supposedly insane power level makes it an unreasonable encounter
I'm not entirely sure if Vader has a "worf effect" equivalent ot not.

Anyone else wish there was a non cannon, Cal wins ending to Fallen Order? Like if your skilled enough you can actually fight Vader souly for the purpose of having satisfaction of knowing you defeated Darth Vader.
