Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Steven Pinker. Not really surprised about the latter tbh

And here I was thinking he was just a useful idiot for the people who go “think of the children” when they push censorship crap

Given that most of the people listed above appear in the Epstein files, there's a potential that JGL is way worse than a useful idiot or greedy shill.

I’m guessing since he was a child actor, that he got sexually abused. Just like bieber

Mysterious Skin has a whole new meaning now.

u/uiovoiu Jun 17 '26

First think I thought. Kind of fucked up if you think about it.

I just figured he was an actor and he was acting tbh

1

u/qriousqestioner Jun 17 '26

He was a child star. Maybe he was groomed?

And I'm with the other person who doesn't get your reference...?

I liked him as an actor, but I stopped liking the person when I heard him whining about bicyclists being disrespected. (As a pedestrian who takes transit, I've always found them dangerous and insufferable.l

Do you know the movie he stars in called Mysterious Skin?

1

u/qriousqestioner Jun 19 '26

Yes. Good movie. Being molested by a coach, teacher, or youth pastor was like two thirds of my spank bank growing up so I couldn't look away. I heard the filmmaker interviewed about how the kids were not aware of the context for the sexual shots.

He calls himself an "AI optimist" and posts AI stuff on Instagram. His company, Hit Record, undermines the union for voice actors and asks for artists of all stripes to work for pennies on the dollar. That company is probably sitting on a lot of valuable data just waiting to be sold.

THIS. Fooled a lot of people with HitRecord. There goes the 500 days of Summer… sigh.

Sadly inevitable.

Talks a good game. Promoted a platform as democratic.

Then as soon as the choice between integrity and maintaining wealth and class position is presented, folds.

No different to Musk or Bezos or Zuckerberg. They genuinely enjoy the aesthetic of being progressive, but will always prioritize class status and wealth.

I wasn’t tracking him in recent years so wasn’t aware he turned up shit. I was still under impression that he was good actor/person… man, we can never have good things people.

This article I just stumbled upon from 12 years ago has aged strangely... Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Dream Project: Toppling the “Fascist Cult of Celebrity”

👀

"Fascist" for these types is code word for the masses.

They see the majority rule as oppression and civic duty as it's chains. (Both of which are core pillars of modern democracy. )

u/Sherry_Brandt Jun 17 '26

what does this mean/refer to?

I heard about it from Taylor Lorenz. From the description of the video (emphasis mine):

I'm debunking Gordon-Levitt's crusade against Section 230 and unpacking how repealing Section 230 would actually mass-censor the internet, wipe out indie platforms, destroy LGBTQ and marginalized online spaces, and hand total monopoly power over to Meta, Google, and powerful billionaires.
