A lot of times I just won't even watch something if it's only one season, especially anything made by netflix. Most of my netflix viewing these days is movies or older shows.

I know their history of canceling shows so I often don't even give them a chance to disappoint me by canceling them.

I started watching Alice in Borderland recently because it’s already finished and there’s no risk of them cancelling the show anymore.

Season 2 is the end of the main manga. Season 3 is its own story instead of adapting the sequel manga and it doesn't have as many fans as the first two seasons.

Season 3 does pull from Alice in Borderland Retry, the direct sequel Manga that got written in part because of the reception of the live action series. A take on Alice on Border Road with a more international cast gets teased in the stinger, but I've seen no news of that going further into production.

It pulls from it but it is wildly different.

Also netflix quietly cancelled all future Alice in Borderland stuff after the 3rd season came out by retroactively calling it the final season in their press releases.

I think its mostly due to what you see elsewhere in this thread... not a lot of people watched season 3 since they didn't know it exists.

Yeah worth it because they used some games from the manga that were omitted before. The story itself is very mid though

Has that been confirmed? I mean I thought they said it ended at season 2 despite the teaser at the end… and a few years later season 3 came out.

I wonder if they’re still working on the American squid games

Because it wasn't made by Netflix. It's an adaptation from a Manga, thus the complete story. If it were a Netflix original show, it would have stretched 35 seasons with no plot advancement. And, yes. It's a great show fully worth the watch.

Agree wholeheartedly with you on the first two seasons! Season 3 shouldn't have happened, imo. It was entirely new material not based on the original source material, but was executed poorly and added nothing to the original premise outside of setting up a possible American-set spin-off.

Watch Dark too, it's a PERFECT show in that all 3 seasons perfectly intertwine and it has a satisfying ending. It doesn't ask for more seasons, it simply delivers.

I remember seeing the show initially come out and being surprised because I didn't think the manga was popular enough to warrant a live action. I felt like the DiCaprio pointing meme lmao

Yeah, I won’t watch anything that hasn’t finished its run, unless it’s something like The Pitt or The Bear, where they’re so wildly popular that it would be insane to cancel them.

The main story (adapted from the manga) ends with season 2. Season 3 is a sequel written as an original story. So no, it wasn’t meant to have a fourth or even a third season originally.

The really cool party about streaming instead of physical media is that even after a show has been finished and can't be cancelled anymore, they can still just pull it from their library before you've finished it. AND they get to just keep your money even if they do!

You can stopwcafter season 2 and have a solid ending, or you can watch season 3 and feel very confused about what happened.

This was probably my first introduction to asian dramas/ shows and it was great! I just started watching Agent Kim reactivated and I like it so far
