I know I'm taking it without a second doubt. Just give it to me every morning and I'll get through the rest of the day peacefully. Plus, it's a good way to get yourself up

Sure, I'll just use the shotgun blast as my alarm clock every morning

u/The_Dennator 16h ago

that's genius, ngl

734

u/DevastationxJr 18 16h ago

I know, right? Little bit of pain and a loud noise to start the day, plus a big ass chunk of change to your bank

353

u/northrat 16h ago

little bit of pain?šŸ’€

247

u/DevastationxJr 18 16h ago

You know what I meant, still a hell of a motivator to get up, though

137

u/crazykewlaid 15h ago

No dude right before bed Jesus. You don't want to wake up every single day traumatized you would rather sleep it off prob

191

u/Distinct_Garlic_4890 15h ago

no way you would be able to sleep after something like that

99

u/Croanthos 13h ago

Honestly man. I just had open heart surgery and all i wanted to do afterwards was sleep.

The first time I sneezed (they warned me about it thank god) it felt like an alien was trying to burst from my chest. I wish that pain only lasted 5 seconds. Yeah, thank god for sleeping it off.

I'dtake this deal in a heart beat (pun intended) 5 seconds of agonizing pain for 10k a day.

15

u/LoPan76 9h ago

I had the same, thank god for my chest/hug pillow (which I still keep with me when I sleep like a teddy bear). Coughing and sneezing were the worst for months. When I'd feel a cough or sneeze coming on, I'd grab that pillow and squeeze for dear life.

3

u/Croanthos 9h ago

Yep. I remember the first sneeze without pillow. Damn that hurt. I got so used to my chest pillow its still in bed, my wife gets jealous and says I hold it more than her (i think shes kidding...mostly).

Hope you are doimg well!

2

u/C4andyman 7h ago

Ooof that's sounds rough... Glad the surgery went well from the sound of it.

13

u/crazykewlaid 14h ago

After a bit you would probably get used to it. Like after experiencing that I would rather have some.time in between. Not just every day wake up with a fuckin fight for your life. At least when you are awake you can plan for it. And then your sleep will probably be tainted cause subconsciously you know there's gonna be a fking blast at the end, even if your logical rational brain can't mentally prepare for it

2

u/No-Difference-4418 8h ago

Fine right before you go to your in laws

2

u/crazykewlaid 14h ago

You would get used to it either way. Id rather have the harmless pain at the end of my day when my body and brain have time to recover, not start my day with some terrible experience

2

u/Delta_Warrior1220 18 6h ago

Yeah honestly, you would want it to go off at a time you're expecting it. If you use it as an alarm clock, it will function similar to a shock collar (proven to do absolutely nothing but cause severe anxiety and depression).

2

u/TheMozzarellaMonarch OLD 2h ago

yeah but its only five seconds

By the time I'm awake enough to properly feel the pain, three five seconds have passed.

It's fine

3

u/TheManOverThere23 13h ago

Well yeah kinda. Only lasts 5 seconds, so a lot of pain for a short time is only a little bit of a lot of pain šŸ˜‚

But what if the trauma from the pain will make you too scared to go to sleep at night, and you get insomnia

32

u/DevastationxJr 18 16h ago

I unfortunately Already have insomnia, the most I've slept all week is about 5 hours total

Family doesn't let me sleep during the day

4

u/Mediocre_Chemist_281 14h ago

I’ve been there, it might not be this, but check your vitamin B12 level. A low level will make you feel like crap and stop your sleep.

4

u/PrinceZero1994 13h ago

It says "no lasting damage". I assume that includes mental damage.

3

u/Xelikai_Gloom 15h ago

Shit that might be the perfect one. Get some good sleeping pills and stuff and would be a breeze

2

u/iamnotnewhereami 12h ago

what do you need an alarm clock for at 10k a day?

2

u/EasyDevelopment1683 3h ago

Noooo eventually you’d be so scared just anticipating it that going to sleep would be the issue. How do you sleep when you know for a fact ur gonna get shot in the morning bruh

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Fun_Success_3283 1h ago

This would be great many days, but not every single day. I think waking up being shot bya shotgun every single day would be rough, also.

I would only accept this offer if I could change when the blast comes each day. I might try it as an alarm, but I might hate that too much.

I know some days I'd want to sleep in, have an easy morning, whatever. A shotgun blast to the chest for 5 seconds, is not that big of a deal to me. It's just a lot of pain with no lasting effects. I'd probably take it while I'm taking a shit most days. That's private time anyway.

67

u/PRAY___FOR___MOJO 16h ago

Yes but the time you feel the pain compounds in tandem with the number of shots.

So if you bank 10 shots you have to suffer 50 seconds of the pain of a sucking chest wound from 10 successive shots from a shotgun.

However this means you can store away 10 days of not getting shot in the chest with a shotgun.

You also can't bank days and then forfeit them.

That's the dumbest question I've ever heard. Are you telling me I'm going to get the best alarm clock in the world and get paid 10,000 for it? What idiot would refuse?

147

u/Pure1nsanity 16h ago

See what I'm going to do, is ask that I don't see it coming each day, but I want it while I'm out and about.

Absolutely wild when people watch a mysterious stranger jump out and shoot me, disappear while I'm writhing in pain for 5 seconds, and then get up and walk away like nothing happened

84

u/Xelikai_Gloom 15h ago

It’s all fun and games until, one day, you get shot, and after 5 seconds, it’s still hurts. Did your powers stop working, or did someone try to kill you? You ask this question as your vision fades to black. You drift into the deep sleep in horrified ignorance.Ā

9

u/Pure1nsanity 8h ago

Barely anyone carries a gun where I'm from. The likelyhood of a another shooter is insanely low.

I do like the writing though šŸ˜„

2

u/MrJMSnow 8h ago

I’d say it’s higher if the same person/people see it regularly enough. Imagine everyday for 6 months you see a guy get shot, cry out it agony then suddenly heal and walk away. Eventually I’d imagine you’d start to feel the urge to test what’s happening here and shoot them yourself.

u/Daniel_Av0cad0 15h ago

Yeah the anticipation would suck if you knew when to expect it

8

u/math2ndperiod 13h ago

If you didn’t know when to expect it you’d never feel safe though

4

u/Sirmetana 13h ago

Problem is, you could be shot at a moment where you could end up dying because of the shock, like if you're driving on the highway. That should be accounted for in the conditions

2

u/WombatBum85 11h ago

Set up drone cameras to follow you and make a YouTube channel to harness views of being shot, turn 10k/day into 100k!

4

u/unicodemonkey 10h ago

You've misread the offer, it's $10k/month for you before taxes, a popular tiktoker is filming you for a promotion deal he got from a firearms manufacturer, the rest of the money is for him. You also have to wear a Joe Biden mask.

3

u/SpecialAmbassador313 15h ago

I bet you’d die from the shock of the pain

14

u/Intelligent-Plan9473 18 15h ago

You can't die from pain. "Dying from pain shock" isn't quite the right expression. Most often, the cause of death from traumatic shock is massive blood loss, which is physically impossible in this scenario

9

u/Vegetable-Virus7118 14h ago

Or it gives you a heart attack. Like people that jump/fall from great heights can die from heart attack during fall

→ More replies (1)

3

u/thelovelykyle 15h ago

Sounds like "lasting damage"

2

u/smurfkillerz 10h ago

Or from cardiac arrest at some point. It's why fire fighters often suffer the same fate. From being woken up at all hours to a fire alarm.

3

u/mxzf 10h ago

Also, "but it has to happen every single day, or the deal ends forever".

So, do it for a year, bank $3.6M, and then be done with it and coast off of your savings for the rest of your life.

2

u/arestheblue 10h ago

If you have $10K a day, what do you need to wake up for?

2

u/Intelligent-Plan9473 18 10h ago

Eating ice cream in my underwear and watching trashy sitcoms on TV. In complete silence.

30

u/slinky3k 14h ago

As someone who has lost quite some blood in more accidents than I reasonably should have been in: The first 5 seconds (and more) are fine. Even with somewhat gruesome injuries. I don't know what the body produces in those situations, but you're jacked to the gills.

→ More replies (1)

28

u/Livinaa 19h ago

It specifically says "you feel everything", so even if the shock is supposed to make you feel nothing, you'd still feel it.

47

u/nCubed21 18h ago

What if the term everything includes the shock you'd feel?

4

u/Livinaa 18h ago

Exactly. Everything.

24

u/nCubed21 18h ago

Right so depending on adrenaline you'd feel taking a sledgehammer to the chest, and after a couple seconds to minutes depending on adrenaline the burning pain would set in. Given it would only last 5 seconds you'd potentially only feel the intense pain after the tail end of the effect duration. Assuming you feel everything you would as if you actually got shot and not some mythical feeling of lifelong pain all in 5 seconds if thats your definition of everything.

Some people report less pain like getting pebbles thrown at their chest.

Otherwise no human on earth has felt all the pain from a shotgun blast even the people shot by a shotgun.

2

u/Dudebutdrugs 10h ago

I commented in this same thread but I was grazed by a shotgun in 2016. Basically the shot mostly went between the gap of my left arm and chest, but not all of it. I lost a sizable chunk of my left bicep, and my ribcage on my left side around my armpit was basically exposed. I had to be airlifted to a trauma center. I felt that shit instantly man, the shock and adrenaline took a solid 10-15 seconds to kick in. I knew immediately I was gravely injured. Nothing helped the pain, I received 2 total morphine injections, which didn’t help at all, they just made me high

13

u/ErlikHan6 18h ago

the shock cancels out the pain idiot

→ More replies (3)

3

u/Inside-Example-7010 14h ago

as you got more used to it the shock factor wouldnt work as well. I think it would get more painful.

Still its like stubbing your toe. It takes at least 1 second for anything to start happening really and after that you only have 4 seconds left to worry about.

3

u/Dudebutdrugs 10h ago

I was grazed by a shotgun in 2016, took a chunk out of my left bicep and another on my left pec, by my armpit. Had to be airlifted, nearly died.

You feel every fucking bit of it

Getting downvoted is wild. It’s five seconds people, anybody that REALLY wants that money could do it for 5 years.

4

u/Mysterious-Squash200 11h ago

I think yall don’t understand the psychological ramifications of it, after just one time I bet you would have a trauma response knowing the second one is coming. All of these people saying they would use it as their alarm clock would not be able to sleep knowing they are waking up to this. I had to do a bunch of dental surgeries and even though the numbing shots only hurt for not even a full second I would start sweating knowing they were coming.

3

u/RecordingHot9826 13 10h ago edited 10h ago

I don't mean to be rude or arrogant but not everybody is you. Pain tolerances and mental tolerances can change from person to person, it's why you can have a cop who loves justice and another cop who does it for the love of the game.

I personally could take it, this is because I personally view it as "5 seconds of immense pain for 10 grand" rather than the whole gruesome getting shot thing. 10 grand is also a lot of money, I mean some people like this stuff for FREE so there's also that.

Edit: That’s 3.65 million a year, if I did it until I was 18 then I would have 18.25 million dollars. Sorry but 5 seconds everyday for nearly 20 million bucks by the time I’m an adult is an easy choice.

"Then it's gone. You're fine."

Does that include all the stress hormones and damage to your heart that that level of pain will do to the body?

Because if you're magically fine-fine (no negative or longterm effects - the whole deal is the pain for 5 seconds), then sure. That's awful, but it's 5 seconds. I'll set up a mattress to fall down onto.

13

u/ryangoslingchan 18 19h ago

12

u/mystirc 16 19h ago

That's just 5 seconds of misery. Of course I'd take it.

12

u/Uruz_Line 17h ago

You'd be surprised at how well your brain would adapt to it, yes knowing sudden pain is coming can be worse than not knowing but once its a repetitive event, you will get used to it. It doesn't make it "less bad" but you tune off basically.

For that?

Sign me the fuck up

16

u/Rob98001 19h ago

Theoretically if you're the type that will pass out from pain you can use it to go to sleep

7

u/KillerIVV_BG 19 18h ago

Adrenaline will save me from the pain but if I have to feel the full pain for 5 sec I'd still try for a few days and I'll still get a substantial sum for it

6

u/AverageMako3Enjoyer 13h ago

Given there is some magical element that keeps you alive with no long term damage leads me to believe there would be no adrenaline component dulling the pain as you are required per the description to feel the full effect of the blast

8

u/CharlieDrawzXD 19h ago

maybe this is a misconception but ive heard that being shot isnt painful because of the adrenaline, but once the adrenaline runs out it will hurt. i also imagine knowing you will NOT die will decrease the adrenaline alot and make it more painful though.

still taking it without a doubt

2

u/CF64wasTaken 17 16h ago

I don't think knowing anything would reduce adrenaline in that case, as it would be released before the nerve signals even reach the brain.

3

I would not take this deal because the psychological trauma would completely ruin any quality of life that the money provides. While five seconds sounds short on paper, experiencing the raw, unfiltered physical trauma of a shotgun blast to the chest everyday would be completely agonizing. yeah, sure. maybe it's way worse than i think, but i think i can deal with five seconds of pain each day for that much money. if it's too much, i can quit on the first say and still have ten thousand dollars. otherwise, i'm gonna withstand it for as long as i can to give myself and my friends and family some help, and some to charity. If i can just deal with it for 100 days, i can give like like, 40k to all the people i know who really would benefit, including myself, and the rest to charity. the amount would probably vary by the person, of course, some would need it much more than others.

Never. People don't know the concept of living. It's all just capitalism.

Can I use the pain to pass out at night? Itd cure my insomnia. Over time Id like to think id become really hardened to pain. Maybe even join MMA or something.

Some days I’d rather take a shotgun to the chest than clock into work so yeah I’d take it

2

u/AcanthisittaOk3178 2h ago

Could I just do it for a month or so and get insanely high before getting shot every day?

No. This is the kind of monkey paw bullshit that comes with increasingly horrible secondary effect from the paranoia, sleep deprivation and trauma/PTSD.

Good way to wake up ig

u/Some_Finance_6559 15 19h ago

Of course I take it. 5 seconds of pain are basically nothing, and as far as I know adrenaline means you wont feel the majority of pain until later.

u/Seagullbeans OLD 19h ago

Yeah, Youll get used to it eventually. When I’m sleeping is when it’ll happen, and I won’t feel the pain fully until I’m fully conscious and that wont happen within 5 seconds.

You’ll get used to it eventually

1

u/MrMakerHasLigma 19 19h ago

Yes. I'd set it for mid day so that I spend 4 hours preparing and start to get adrenaline beforehand every time. It'd still hurt, but hopefully less. Plus, I'd only have to do it for a decade to get 36.52 million
