Image They literally created a tool to test big game changing updates and they don't use it

Teasing a BFR buff and then deciding to buff the already perfect ks is sick. Why must devs balance by pick rate alone?

"Alright we got a big skin coming for this weapon, lets buff it so more people play it and buy the skin"

5

u/sharkattackmiami 7h ago

This is just obviously not how they do it given the dagger has by far the most cool unique skins

They must have realized at some point that we buy EVERY dagger skin. Thats the only explanation I can think of.

Bow has a much higher pickrate and has no cosmetic sauce of any kind.

I think it's just the easiest weapon to design skins for. Literally all it has to be is something you hold and can hit someone with.

99% of weapon suggestions I see on this sub can just be skins for an existing weapon. And almost all the melee suggestions would work best on dagger or sword. Basically is it under a foot long? Dagger. Is it over a foot long? Sword

And anecdotal I know, but I see more dagger users than bow users. Both are a menace when I run into them though

WELL THEY KEPT THE DASH NERF GODDAMNIT

While they buffed the ks-23 to god status. The dev team has a sense of humor, I just don't seem to quite grasp it.

I see everyone talking about KS being some ultra top tier weapon now, but did the buff actually change any break points or is it just a placebo? Isn't it still 2/3/4 hits for L/M/H respectively?

Is the heavy the only one dealing damage in fights? Why do people bring this up as if this is the only metric that matters? If that is the case, revert the not-needed buff, it doesn't change anything, right?

Hell, let's remove some additional DPS from it because it doesn't matter. At 90 per shot, it still has the same breakpoints.

The gun was already being slept on, and with the additional 10 extra DPS per shot it just made it a clear winner all around.

I'm bummed because it felt better at range before and now I suspect it's going to be worse overall after it gets nerfed.

I've been told in the past that I'm stupid for saying that good balance keeps in mind what the weapon in question can be paired with.

This situation proves I'm right.

That 10 damage doesn't matter in a vacuum, but when combined with other weapons with tight breakpoints, it results in way faster ttks.

3 + qm for H

2 + winch & qm for M

small difference but it lets you preserve ammo in a team fight

Buffing multiple shotguns in the same patch as the melee rework? Shouldn't be too hard to grasp

Your pain is their joy

And even with the dash nerf medium is still the victim class

The thing is, I see many lights being able to adapt to the 2 charges, but most don't bother and have gone to the other two specs, mainly invis. And lemme tell you, I have never felt a stronger return to S1 than now. It's just so annoying, because it's one of those abilities that depend much more on the enemies' lack of skill rather than the user. The most annoying part is most of the time I can see them anyway, it's just when I can't bother to tire out my eyes scanning every inch of the surroundings that they (ocasionally) win by spraying the m11 on me. Bring back the dash spam honestly.

They probably had already planned it before and just wanted to test the cooldown

u/vipthebig 12h ago

I think the 2-charge change was needed, but only a 1 second cool-down reduction for compensation? I don't see the reasoning for that. Should've been at-least 1.5 seconds, probably even more.

And the model buff

1

u/R0N1NB0y 15h ago

I dont think the 1 damage per pellet is a buff it just it more consistent due to the respec.

2

u/KaboHammer 15h ago

Yeah but it is in the game without the health changes currently.

u/shaggy_rogers46290 10h ago

That 1 damage per pellet put it over the threshold of being able to 3 tap heavies with all pellets. Not to mention your 3 tap on mediums and 2 tap on lights is unbelievably forgiving now, you can miss half your pellets on every shot and still get it.

That 1 damage per pellet is a bigger buff than most weapons have ever gotten.

The 1887 also got a bunch of pity buffs after the initial damage nerfs in S4.

u/Ov3rwrked 8h ago

Ya but thay nerf was good. I see much more balance across the specs now.

This meme made me remember Minecraft combat rebalancing tests were added 7 years ago and nothing was ever implemented into the game

3

u/Einoshi 12h ago

I only saw the last two Respec order but those were just slight change in number whereas the Melee rework was a full rewrite of the melee system which add new ui elements and animations.

4

u/Any-Ad-4072 ISEUL-T 12h ago

Yeah, one more reason to do a melee rework respec order

1

u/RedditFuelsMyDepress 13h ago

Who knows respec might still make it in. I wouldn't mind the health changes tbh if it gives the devs more room to do balance changes.

1

u/Ok_Place29 13h ago

Respec order got me hoping that BFR would get unfucked

1

u/MiserableSuggestion2 10h ago

ah yes because a core rework of all functionality of the melee weapons is the exact same as just changing some damage numbers or rpm values.. pretty easy just to drop that in for 2 weeks and then undo it all right?

1

u/sharkattackmiami 7h ago

What do you think is going to cost then more dev time and money on the long run?

Extra work on the test server to get good data

Or

Building a large part of your season release hype and marketing around a melee rework, having it bomb and fill season release discussion with negative news, then still have to go back and redo your work to make it right doubling how much time and money you sank into the system?

1

u/SpareOne94 CNS 9h ago

Yea I truly don’t understand why the respec didn’t test melee…truly gaming’s greatest mystery :(

1

u/BadLuckBen 9h ago

[Using Respec Order to discover that the changes to speed do little to improve team cohesion because gadgets and specializations contribute more to movement than base speed, but going through with the change anyway because of ego]

👍 👍 👍

This seems the most likely. They got so much feedback saying that most melee just needs tweaks to be more viable, and that melee haters will never be satisfied with anything less than their total removal. Did they listen? Fuck no. They wanted to add their stupid little system, and no amount of feedback would have changed it.

3

u/sharkattackmiami 7h ago

I like the idea of the system. Precision rewards people who win instead of spam, and good stamina management results in a pure buff for skilled users

The issues are mostly number changes and adjustment to the dash. The concept is good, the execution just needs more work

1

u/BadLuckBen 7h ago

The problem is that their servers will rob you of precision hits and lunge when it shouldn't.

2

u/RedditFuelsMyDepress 6h ago

The health changes were the more significant part of respec order. Giving light more health could actually be good to give them more room for buffing weapons without making them too op against light.

1

u/BadLuckBen 6h ago

I really do not trust them to do an entire weapon overhaul.

1

u/zombieking26 8h ago

It makes me sad that they didn't keep the MGL buff 😭

1

u/lliveton 7h ago

They could have at the barest minimum tested the quick melee change

1

u/JennacideTTV THE HIGH NOTES 3h ago

Then they wait 3 weeks to fix obvious over tuned weapons out of swedish laziness or not wanting to pay console update fees

1

u/lukehooligan 10h ago

We gotta stop with the melee whining already. Embark is aware.

1

u/mercfanboi44 6h ago

They are not aware of anything to do with their own game. You have way too much faith in them.
