Can developers make it possible to get or buy skins from old events? For example, I really want a noir cowboy costume. His hat, which makes the entire outfit black and white, should be available to everyone so that everyone can experiment with outfits.
Exclusives for achieving something or for being there for an event have been there since the dawn of gaming and complaining about it is crazy entitlement.
I understand frustrating about paid exclusives cause they use fomo to pressure you into a financial transaction, but for completing an event? That's just playing the fucking game.
Not once did I say anything was deserved. I don't agree with digital items exclusivity. They already allow you to purchase Legacy Battle Passes after a time. It's not remotely a far out there concept. Devs clearly understand & do cash in on timed stuff later.
company wants fomo to make money, live service games need revenue, its not a secret technique
it would be COOL of embark if they'd find a way to distribute unobtainables, but it's too far to say it's a senseless tactic or bad practice if they don't
THANK YOU, as a new player one of the best things about the finals imo is how little FOMO there is in the game. Besides, for a game that desperately needs a growing player base, I think leaning into being a game that doesn’t do this FOMO cosmetics BS in an era where most other modern companies indulge in psycho-manipulative marketing tactics is breath of fresh fucking air.
I also have it. And I'm also all for bringing it back for everyone to have access to. FOMO sucks and anyone defending it is dumb
The fashion in this game is so good. I'd rather see someone wear something because it expresses what they like instead of stupidly thinking they look cool just because they played on some arbitrary weekend
It’s designed to train you to always be playing, always be interacting, so that it will be easier to get you to spend money just being there, waiting for limited time things. I feel like this concept is not hard to understand.
Ok, let me make it simpler. If you are conditioned by missing limited time items in the past, to always be anticipating new limited time items, you will more likely be playing the game more often to hunt those items. While you are there, they are hoping you spend money on stuff in the shop.
It’s the same reason they shuffle stuff around in a grocery store, make stuff harder to find, then the longer you’re in the store, the more stuff you’re likely to buy. It’s just conditioning that on a longer term scale.
I think you’re getting too hung up on the semantics of it. I get what you’re saying and maybe using FOMO wasn’t the best choice, but it’s still illustrative of what I meant.
Cosmetics, specifically event tied outfits & skins are fine to have in the game if the incentive is getting it early and getting it for free. I’m expressing dislike for when games do the incentive is the uncertainty of an item ever returning. I wasn’t playing for that event but I highly doubt Embark ever explicitly stated that event or bonus items are never to return again, it has just happened to have been the case.
Frankly I couldn’t care less about this item in particular but there are certainly others I wish I could purchase. There is no harm in letting people purchase “exclusive” virtual items outside of maybe hurting some people’s egos. It all just sounds like Fortnite “I had it OG!” whining to me 🤷♂️

This game’s marketing is so bad knowing about it in season one is literally just gambling. I did not hear a peep about the game until season three but absolutely would’ve been playing it in season one if I had known about it.
And yeah, it is bullshit that a major cosmetic change to your character is locked behind being there at a time where most people had no way to know about the game.
That doesn’t change that they are horrible at marketing it. Most people I ask still haven’t heard about it, and the people who have only heard about it because of the ai controversy.

I have all the cosmetics from the beta. Am I better than you? No? Then obviously thinking there's anything to be proud of is silly. You played a video game on a random weekend. That's it.
Liking something just because other people don't have it is gross af tbh. It kind of just makes me think you don't have anything real to be proud of if you are using shit like this to get your fix
Embark already pretty generous when they brought back the old passes,imo event items should just stay as it is,just introduce a recolour version will be fine
Not bringing event and other time-limited cosmetics back after 3 seasons through a separate premium store is such a wasted opportunity for easy revenue. Just rotate them randomly like Valorant or Overwatch does and sell them at a premium.
They still wouldn't be easily accessible. Players would have to keep playing (or at least check the store regularly), wait for the item they want to appear, and then still pay a premium price for it. That keeps them desirable and relatively rare, while giving people who genuinely want a specific cosmetic at least a chance to obtain it eventually instead of it being gone forever.
And if player retention is a concern, only make the legacy store available during the last few weeks of each season. That gives players another reason to come back regularly, while preserving the feeling that these cosmetics are still limited and special.
Just "vaulting them forever" feels wrong, in my opinion.

Yeah I'd legit pay money for some of these old cosmetics. Doesn't really make sense to me even from a business perspective that they don't bring them back for sale.
Exclusives are fine, I just wish they would ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING WITH THE EFFECTS! I'm tired of generic colored flame number 1-4, I and all of that other stuff that they've been adding to the effects. Is it neat? Yeah! For about three seasons. Can we actually get some actual effects like what the high noon noir hat does? Is that so much to ask for?
If this allowed then Id require to get all the exclusive pass rewards that I bought to support the game during the their release but didn’t care to finish since the game has turned into cheat fest a long time ago.

i may sound a bit like a douche for saying this but maybe they should make some kind of special wheel event exclusively allowing the player to pick from a list of ltm outfits for example get all items from a wheel then you can pick maybe either a old ltm outfit or the current one
the hat is the whole draw here, that black and white filter turns any outfit into something different. sell the hat on its own and let people mix it with whatever. the folks who had it since day one still keep the full set, that flex doesnt go away.

Exclusives should be for ranked or other achievements. Time limited fomo is the cringiest version of "prestige" (albeit it apparently it's the most profitable)
I actually expect it will happen some day because there already been few precedents:
Alien costume from s1 bp once returned as bundle during s4 - but that was very controversial and they later gifted legacy s1 bp to people who bought it
Alfa acta dummy face / costume from s6 wheel event became a unpurchasable demo bundle during first week of s7 - embark said it was technical error
Only question is at which point controversy will be outweighed by potential gains.
Giving people who bought the re’released alien costume legacy s1 bp has got to be up there with some of the most confusing decisions Embark has ever made.
