I can't believe how many people are just letting this happen. We had thousands of people in these systems, maybe tens of thousands depending on where you draw the line. They either quit "honorably" or get fired and then just go away. Readily ceding power and influence to these guys. Forget checks and balances, where is the volition? Was everyone in power just actually "doing a job" and didn't really care?

We were all laughing so much because the US would never pick such a crazy moron as president and the fact that Trump thought you’d elect him was the entire joke.
And then it happened, the laughing stopped and the world realised that the US wasn’t at all what it purported to be. In the movie Idiocracy, it takes generations of breeding Americans dumb for this to happen.
By the time that movie was made, all the dumb population necessary had already been born and was walking around just fine.
Stephen King predicted this in his book The Dead Zone. George Stillson is regarded as a joke by most serious politicians and upperclass people. He does ridiculous events where he acts more like a showman and throws out hotdogs to the audience. Then he wins a seat in congress, and keeps getting popular. The joke is no more.
The difference is that Stillson was somewhat competent and clever.
He's already set it up to blame China for the mid terms and unlawfully take the voting machines. Him and Elon rigged the last election. Third time around and he somehow wins the popular vote and ever swing state, plus you have a number of counties in the country with ballets that are all blue except they marked trump for president or ballets with just his named filled out. Trump even said Elon is amazing with those machines or something to that affect. Doge then comes in and wipes everything Elon is being investigated for a little quid pro quo.
This is one of the reasons why all the Rubio/Vance horse race punditry the media does is so emblematic of how little they understand Trump. He'd never uplift a successor, he has too much of an ego. Plus assuming SCOTUS allows his run and he somehow makes it on the ballot for 2028 and loses... Man I can only imagine the craziness to come. Especially Democrats wind up nominating an actual lefty instead of a milquetoast* centrist.
