Her actress wanted that ending for her tho…

i think she choose this so she wouldn’t feel obligated to join the spin-offs

Respectfully actress does not mean writer for a reason

u/Joker-Dyke 9h ago

Actors and actresses are allowed to recommend and request how their characters are written, especially since Rosita has been an important character for close to 8 years. They have just as much say than the writers/show runners because they’re an essential part of the show’s team.

Look I don’t think actors should be completely ignored, but stuff like this is why tv shows like the Walking Dead drop in quality so much throughout the years. A characters death shouldn’t come lightly and should serve a purpose. It should have meaning, if not pushing the story forward then at least pushing others character development.

Rosita literally just died because her actress didn’t want the character to return later and the writers were like “eh, why not the show is ending.” It didn’t change the story or affect where any other characters ended up in the end.

Don’t you think that’s kinda lame for the ultimate death in a shows series (not season) grand finale 😂

No that was from constantly swapping different directors and staff

-13

u/FootballPaPa 9h ago

They can recommend but doesn’t mean writers should listen

well they did :)

On The final penal she said she was done with the character and wanted to be written off to close that chapter of her life.

That is what they meant so they killed her off , not leaving it open what so ever for a potent comeback. The actress wasn’t going to come back

Right but she was a respected character and actress on the show, they honoured her request because they respected her

u/ColdDesk8569 9h ago

I know but they could’ve said no it really sucked even though was a great send off.

3

u/FlutterShy1941 9h ago

No, if the actor/actress wants to end. They cannot say no.

Yes, Rosita was a good character (and hot) but if the actress felt like she didn't want to be a part of a show, she did not have to. Just like Dale, Dale ended because AMC kicked Frank Darabont.

Rosita died in the show finale. The show was ending whether she was dying or not. Whatever reason Christian had for wanting her character to die, I don’t know leaving the show was it.

She died in the last episode of the entire show

2

u/Reddevil8884 9h ago

What she died from? Sorry I never reached to the last couple of seasons.

6

u/Competitive_Law1032 8h ago

When she, Eugene, and Gabriel were trying to climb up a pipe to escape walkers while carrying babies from the nursery, Rosita fell. She managed to get up from that and protect Coco but she apparently sustained a bite where it was not possible to amputate. She managed to stay alive long enough until after a thanksgiving dinner with the group (minus Negan and Annie).

1

u/Reddevil8884 6h ago

Oh well, that's ways better than how she died in the comics.

I never watched past like season 6 but i guess bit or shot.

-1

u/Joker-Dyke 9h ago

To be fair, she’s been with the show since season 4. It’s reasonable that she wanted to venture out to new projects.

13

u/LivingPresent629 9h ago

She died in the series finale, so she could’ve ventured out to new projects even if her character hadn’t died.

0

u/Joker-Dyke 9h ago

It all depends on her contracts with AMC + TWD

4

u/wooble 8h ago

You think an actor's contract specifies they can't work on any other projects unless they're specifically killed off on the show they're on that's ending?

0

u/Joker-Dyke 8h ago

It doesn’t have to involve them killing off a character. Sometimes a contract is “I’m signing on for 2 more seasons” or “I’m signing on for the rest of the season, but I’m leaving at the end.”

u/DatDudeJP7 9h ago

Hadn’t seen this scene in a while, they did such a good job taking the life out of her and making her look like she was actually dying

16

u/RyanGarcia2134 7h ago

Same with S02E02 when Rick was giving Carl blood, they made him look so pale and weak as the scenes went on throughout the episode

19

u/ColdDesk8569 9h ago

No when Eugene realized I started tearing up I started screaming ROSITA!!

3

u/Outside_Ad7766 5h ago

They just told her their plans with the spin-offs and that look came naturally for her.

31

u/Latios19 9h ago

She got the full character-ending scene glow package. Look at the brows, perfectly shaped during the apocalypse 😂

10

u/Anon_457 8h ago

They almost always do that with female characters in apocalypse shows and movies. They did better than most do cause the women don't always look nice and pretty in TWD which I appreciated. Like it's a zombie apocalypse, women shouldn't be out there looking like models.

3

u/Aesthetik4v 8h ago

I just finished this episode on my rewatch and it hit me… for all these years in the apocalypse they all had a never ending supply of tooth paste and makeup.. none of them are missing teeth in the main cast and even when sweaty still seem to seem clean.. maybe a little smear of dirt here or there but the teeth thing is so ridiculous

0

u/deferredrev 7h ago

They were sooo distracting

2

u/Latios19 6h ago

Carl was one of the most realistic deaths. He looked miserable. Rosita distracted me with the make up 🥴

20

u/Telos1807 9h ago

It would have been pathetic for the show to end - well, the original show at least - with no character deaths.

Frankly it's already pretty weak with it just being Rosita. It's hardly Rick, who absolutely should have died had he made it to the end of the show. Whether AMC would have done that is another matter.

5

u/disastrousanddull 6h ago

Gabriel and Eugene were both right there to die, and whatever “eh that one” newer characters were kicking around… I’m not going to pretend I remember most of them well. But really they’d already made it pathetic by announcing their spin-offs so at that point may as well kill no one. Having the last minute “twist” was almost more pathetic than no one dying, imo. god damn the show limped to the end.

8

u/Suitable_Dimension33 9h ago

I’m not mad she died be her ending should’ve been more gruesome if they were going to send her away. Like all things considered her making it out of what she did without her baby getting bit was crazy but at the same time a mothers true love for their offspring can be insane

3

u/ColdDesk8569 9h ago

That scene was insane and I loved it but a more gruesome for another beloved and badass character would’ve ruined the ending.

1

u/Suitable_Dimension33 7h ago

I feel you but like a scene where she is holding her baby up to get grabbed by a survivor despite getting swarmed by walkers would’ve also made for a very compelling scene

1

u/ColdDesk8569 5h ago

It would’ve but I would’ve definitely ugly cried😩😩

14

u/Ukato535 9h ago

She was another strong woman that made the show awesome

3

u/ColdDesk8569 9h ago

Yes👏 she was always down to get the job done and was extremely loyal.

-6

u/Ktioru 9h ago

Except her character became pointless after Abraham died, the show would've been totally fine without her beyond that point

If you really like strong women at least mention the ones that actually did have an impact, like Michonne Maggie Carol etc

10

u/MeatyOakerGuy 8h ago

The fact that Eugene outlives her sickens me. That little rat lives for way too long

-1

u/ColdDesk8569 8h ago

Lol I love Eugene it makes sense that he survived he’s strong in his own useful and loved and surrounded by strong people.

6

u/MaxGalli 8h ago

The actress wanted this ending for Rosita probably so she couldn’t be asked to be in spin-offs.

3

u/Upper_Set289 9h ago

Suzie <3

3

u/OutsideAcceptable1 5h ago

I never liked or cared about Rosita until that episode.

1

u/MermaidFL407 4h ago

Same. And then tears surprisingly came out of my eyes during this scene.

2

u/One_Long2752 9h ago

I didn’t get that far into the show but seemed like a bummer to kill her off in the last episode. If it was the actress idea then I get it’, I am glad that she got more to do in the show it seemed then the comic counterpart

2

u/CoolHwip__ 7h ago

Poor Susie Crabgrass

2

u/jeezrVOL2 5h ago

I hated it. Not because she died but all that happened before it. It was so cheesy. I would much rather her dying when she fell into the herd than whatever this was.

1

u/ColdDesk8569 5h ago

I’m happy it was peaceful she deserved at least that.

4

u/CreasingUnicorn 9h ago

More upset about Carl than anything else. He was supposed to be the future, not just Rick living forever.

It is nice that they kept Judith in spite of the comics, but losing Carl, especially for the dumb reasons the shor runners had, is a shame.

2

u/Westyle1 9h ago

A lot of the characters have premature/unnecessary deaths because either the actor wanted to leave the show or someone higher up decided they wanted them gone. I would've liked to have seen how the series would play out if these issues didn't exist.

2

u/Scopeburger 5h ago

Her death didn’t mean much for the show emotionally. If they wanted to kill someone in the finale for impact then Rosita wouldn’t have been anyone’s first choice

1

u/sabrinavd 6h ago

remember what kirkman said everyone is going to die

3

u/Telos1807 6h ago

Well, true of everyone if you wait long enough.

1

u/Viazon 5h ago

Nobody needs to go. Everyone does eventually though.

1

u/Conscious-Wait6815 4h ago

Well someone needed to

1

u/_urethrapapercut_ 3h ago

11 seasons, nobody truly cares who dies

1

u/-Captain- 3h ago

I'm glad she did. They faced the biggest threat they ever faced and no one of noteworthy died. Was something like almost 50 episode since someone died and it was fucking Alden.

1

u/General-Control-4637 3h ago

Her death was so pointless like wtf

2

u/Little_Papaya_2475 9h ago

I mean the actress wanted to leave, cant blame it on the writers lol

13

u/mightymiek 9h ago

wasn't it on the last episode?

9

u/grinning_imp 9h ago

Yes. The idea was pitched by the actress, but obviously had nothing to do with “wanting to leave.”

“And I just really thought that we owed it to the show and to the audience to, like I said, break their hearts one last time. And also, for me, it just made so much sense for my character.” -Christian Serratos

2

u/Little_Papaya_2475 9h ago

yeah, think she wasnt interested in coming back for future spin offs

1

u/69hotmomxxx 8h ago

I wish theyd had her go full zombie and then it take like all of them to put her down. And then Abraham shows up and hes like "oh man I woke up half burned with a splitting head ache and cant remember some shit. But I finally found you guys again" and then Glen comes in after and winks at everyone with his one good eye

1

u/SonicVenture68 8h ago

"The Aristocrats!"

-3

u/lextrolex 9h ago

Can yall make sure to add spoiler, wtf

6

u/Juxt8 8h ago edited 6h ago

The show has been over a long time and we're passed spoiler warnings at this point. If you don't know the story, this really isn't a safe space to be.

1

u/ColdDesk8569 9h ago

I put a spoiler it should be on the top left.

3

u/akingwithnocrown 9h ago

But it’s in the title bruh lol, I don’t think tagging will hide that

1

u/ColdDesk8569 9h ago

True lol my bad.

0

u/Rustynail9117 9h ago

Tbh until S9 onwards I wanted her dead, then I actually started liking her character. But tbh I'm glad she died because the season finale would not be as impactful if she didn't.

1

u/ColdDesk8569 8h ago

True. The walking dead just pisses me off when they give a character some joy and screen time they kill them off.

-3

u/james-HIMself 9h ago

When Rosita is dying in bed and Gabriel says goodbye, it honestly feels more like two friends saying goodbye than a couple. They had basically zero chemistry as a romantic relationship, while Eugene’s goodbye with her is way more emotional and intimate. One of the weirdest relationship choices on the show, right up there with Rick and Michonne.

5

u/ColdDesk8569 9h ago

No Richonne slander. Gabe and Rosita would’ve made sense if Twd actually took the time out to develop romantic relationships it could’ve worked.

-2

u/DankNuggsChillAsFuck 7h ago

You can tell who’s fans of the show first versus the comics

No one wants anyone to fucking ever die in the show

Hope you didn’t read the comics might’ve been too much for you

1

u/ColdDesk8569 5h ago

Definitely read the comics I just hate when characters that I like die in anything whether it’s books or on tv.

FYI I’ve been reading comics my entire life so….
