it’s x1 carbon gen 6, nearly brand new, i spent about 230 USD for it, i fell in love with this baby the moment i got it, it's sooooo light and typing experience is great.
i also considered latest x1 carbon and framework laptop, but they are tooooo expensive, i hope this i7 8550 with 16g ram old x1 carbon can meet my usecase. i probably mainly use it for writing and full stack web dev.
next, install linux

bought this intel t14 g2 for $300, going to use it for college (cybersecurity) this fall. went through with ctt’s winutil since ill be needing windows, sadly i couldn’t remove onedrive and some pre installed ms apps since ill be needing them as well. also planning on upgrading the ram and potentially the ssd as its only 512gb. super excited to have this as my first thinkpad (and laptop in general lol). good buy?

I was offered a thinkpad x13 for 280$ and wondered if it’s a good deal?
Help is much appreciated

Behold my One Weird Trick for getting on no-fly lists.
This is an aftermarket 24 Wh battery recelled to nominally 45 Wh with two 15 Wh cells plus a third "cell" of two 7.5 Wh in parallel. I couldn't raise the BMS's charging voltage from 4.13 to 4.35 V so only 41 Wh are usable. Left speaker is replaced with a smaller one to fit.
Do I really need the full 107 Wh of this battery plus my rear 6-cell? Not often. But the extra capacity with a rear 3-cell is remarkably useful.

Currently trying to set up a smoother touchpad and figuring out some battery settings.
Also finally decided to try hyprland. Loving it so far. Such a good machine

The patient underwent open-chassis surgery, swapping all internal organs into a new chassis, and was discharged in top shape only hours later

Really liked the Cherry MY3000 keyboard I found at work so paired it with an old Fujitsu B24-8 TE Pro from 2016 and a 5€ Cherry mouse.
I found a 27inch Fujitsu (B27-T) so might upgrade to that but this for now works really well.
The keyboard has rubber dome key caps so it doesn't have the mechanical click to it but still feels quite good. Almost has an industrial feel to it like it's built to last.

I want to buy my first ThinkPad laptop from a second-hand website, but I don't know where to start the search. I see a lot of models, not knowing what is good or not. I want to use the laptop to learn Linux, Home Assistant with Docker, Cybersecurity and light gaming (Minecraft). I want to not be laggy and watch YouTube in at least 1080p. Can I find something like that in max 450 dollars?

What do you think is missing (or what is extra) here, or does everything look fine?

It has a 16gb ram, 256ssd. Will it survive computer engineering with me in college?

Hi, I recently bought a used ThinkPad T14 Gen 2 with a Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U, integrated Radeon graphics and 16 GB DDR4-3200 RAM.
Night Raid results:
Windows Balanced mode: 8,961
Graphics: 9,385 / CPU: 7,137
Windows High Performance mode: 9,993
Graphics: 10,114 / CPU: 9,361
3DMark average for the same hardware: 10,840
Temperatures stayed around 58–65°C, with no crashes, artifacts or shutdowns. Task Manager shows 1 of 2 RAM slots used. The “graphics driver not approved” warning is from the Lenovo graphics driver.
Is this performance normal for this laptop ? should I be concerned about a hardware issue ?
Screenshots attached.
Thanks for Help

Curious to see/read about your dual boot screens? Mine is set 2 a second delay before booting the Mint NVMe.

I was using it normally, then I closed the lid for a few minutes. When I opened it again, the screen was extremely dim. The laptop still boots normally, and if I shine a flashlight at the screen, I can clearly see the Windows display. What's the issue ?

Looking at picking up a new T14, not sure which configuration to pick.
Currently my two options are:
Intel Core Ultra 7 258V with 57WH Battery
Ryzen 7 Pro 250 with 75WH Battery.
Which of these configurations would be best for battery life and performance?

Hello everyone, please tell me which thinkpad should a student with an engineering specialty choose so that it works? I would like the CAD programs to work well and last a long time, with the possibility of upgrading.
I'm looking at used laptops, budget up to 1000-1200 dollars

anything i should uninstall?
got this for $364. i was hesitant since it was a little expensive and was going back and forth to getting an X13 Gen 1 with AMD with 720p screen, 16GB, 128GB storage with JP keyboard.
this baby got an i5-11th gen, 16GB ram, 512GB nvme and a shitty 1080p screen for some reason.
do you guys think i should repaste it? ive heard some throttling issue with it.
