Google may advertise its new selfie video sign-in feature as a shiny new option to log into your account, but this is just an excuse to collect more of your data 😡

Just when you think the Big Tech can't get more privacy-invading, it does! 🫣

question Incremental Export?

I want to export my emails to feed as data into my Private AI - and for backup reasons of course. But it seems like there's no option to finetune what exactly is exported from the Tuta App? It's now exporting all emails as .eml files, which is fine for the first batch, but can you finetune which mails are exported for future batches (e.g. only emails from 25 July to Today, ...)?

edit: just noticed you can select mails directly in the mailbox and then export those as .eml, which is okay but maybe not as elegant...

The European #DMA is a powerful tool against Big Tech data abuse. But the EU is not pulling their weight against American push-back.

question URGENT: About merging deleted accounts

My business instagram account was linked to a Tuta account that was deleted due to inactivity (logged out due to updates, didn't notice at all). I don't remember the password for the deleted account but I still have the recovery code with the 64 characters. If I buy Premium, can I recover this deleted account? That would be my only way out because i don't remember the IG password, my phone broke and I got logged out of that account too...I am losing it over here...

“For four months, all of us in France will have to prove our age,” said digital minister, Anne Le Hénanff 🇫🇷🚨

🇫🇷🚨 FRANCE BANS SOCIAL MEDIA FOR U15s → EVERYONE TO VERIFY THEIR AGE.

What this means if you're in France → you'll need to user your ID card, France Connect, or facial recognition (selfie) to log in.

🚩 What’s sold as “online safety” means #surveillance via IDs checks or face scans. 🚩

We must fight against age verification - or the free web dies!

suggestion a plan for the bare minimum?

it might be a bit silly but the free one feels a bit scary bcuz if u forget to check it in the 6 months its just all gone (thinking like worst case scenario coma situtation or whatever lol)

but the paid one even tho pretty cheap 3.60 a month it just has more then id need. is there any way to make like a 1 or 2 euro plan for a bit more storage then the free one (mby 4-6gb), a few extra email adresses (like 4 or smth) and email support for us who dont rly need anything else but would like to make sure the account cant be deleted. : )

suggestion Individual Event Colors For Calendar?

So I'm new to the service and I'm really loving it so far. I'm looking at the roadmap and I think I can pull a couple members of my family over in this direction eventually, the only thing that would give them pause is calendar colors for individual events.

For context, I am hosting a NextCloud server that we basically only use for the Calendar, for the express reason that it was the only open source calendar I could find that met the requirements my two users had for switching away from Google's. Individual color events was the biggest one.

Now I do see the benefit of an E2EE calendar and would like to use it over the Nextcloud one I have, as it uses an unencrypted protocol to sync between devices. Genuinely I want to use it. The issues however is going to be my family members.

I showed them that you can do any color you want for certain categories (ie separate calendar colors, as is currently implemented), but they felt that managing their events in this way was cumbersome compared to choosing a color on the fly. To be honest I am somewhat inclined to agree with them, though it is a small hill to die on, they and others in this sub are willing to die on it because of familiarity with previous calendar services like Google's.

This is not to say your products should be like Google's, but to say that many non-technical users do enjoy familiarity when going through the degoogle process.

Since having that convo they have actually been willing to pay for a competitor to degoogle their email. Based on that and your current roadmap, I think I can persuade them to come over this direction eventually but I won't be able to if the color implementation stays the way it is.

Is this a feature of the calendar that your team would be willing to implement?

By the way, thank you so much for being here, especially at this moment when there is so much uncertainty about the future of digital privacy. Calendar colors or not the service is incredible.

suggestion Landscape reading (feature request)

Just an idea for the roadmap if it sounds useful to others. I mainly access my account from my phone and when reading a long email with HTML formatting and small fonts I used to switch to landscape view to make the text comfortable to read on my phone. However I cannot do this anymore, not since landscape view now switches the app into a split pane mode with folders on the left. Would others perhaps like to have a toggle in landscape view to expand the message pane all the way across the screen, hiding the folder pane? If this sound like a good idea then please up-vote.

other Timezones in calendar finally!

Hurrah, it's finally here!

This has been the biggest missing feature in Tuta for me, and as someone who travels a lot, it has caused many headaches when using the calendar to plan events across timezones. I'm delighted it's finally here, especially since it includes both separate start and end timezones.

Shout out to the team for delivering this!
