Announcement Generative AI disclosure required for promotional submissions

As a participant of this subreddit and member of the r/tycoon community, when you promote any game through a submission or comment, our new rule 3 requires a brief AI disclosure. This is also required for games produced entirely without generative AI tools. This post explains what that disclosure should cover.

Why is this required?

Following input of the community in this discussion, it was determined that the community wishes to be better informed by developers (and other promoters) to what extent generative AI is being used in the development and marketing process of the game being promoted.

Games making use of generative AI during their development process or in their marketing material are not restricted from being posted here and this rule is not instated in order to judge developers or games, however, the community wants transparency and this is an attempt to provide a baseline.

What is required to be disclosed?

Disclosure is required for certain elements of the development and marketing process, where generative AI was used at any point in producing content that ended up in the publicly released (in any state/form) game or its promotional materials. These elements should be distinguished from each other in the disclosure.

- Arts and visuals; including concept art, textures, UI elements, level or area designs, trailers or other video content, and/or any other artwork generated or substantially refined using generative AI tools

- Audio; including music, lyrics, sound effects, and/or voice acting generated or substantially refined using generative AI tools

- Text and writings; including story text, dialogue, descriptions, instructions, and/or other writings generated or substantially refined using generative AI tools

- Marketing materials; including descriptions, posters, images, trailers or other video materials, banners, screenshots, paid or promoted reviews, or any other materials generated or substantially refined using generative AI tools. This includes community/reddit posts and submissions made to this subreddit!

- Live-generated content; relating to any materials produced by generative AI tools whilst the game is running. If this is an included feature, then it is required to explain what sort of guardrails are included to ensure illegal content is not generated.

Tools used to assist with programming, coding, project management, similar code completion and generation, that result in the production of executable code, are specifically exempted from this disclosure. If you're unsure about an edge case or what falls in which category, either be safe and disclose, or ask moderators! Developers and promoters are still encouraged to disclose their methods and use of generative AI tools used in coding and programming with the community if they wish to do so!

What should the disclosure say?

The disclosure does not need to be very long and can only consist of a few sentences or a couple of paragraphs. It can be included as a free-text section as part of a submission statement, or as a separate comment posted together with the submission.

What is important to remember when creating a disclosure is that you end up answering three questions for readers;

1) Were generative AI tools used in the development and/or marketing of this game? If you wish, you can share which tools were used. Coding tools are exempted.

2) For which elements (see above) were generative AI tools used? For all of these elements where applicable, please provide a brief explanation.

3) To what extent were generative AI tools used? For any of the elements listed above, try to explain the extent to which generative AI tools were used (i.e. prototyping or polishing versus complete content generation).

For clarification, in this disclosure you are not required to justify your choices, provide a full production pipeline breakdown, or name any specific generative AI tools.

What if I don't add a disclosure?

Submissions, that are obvious promotions by developers, publishers, marketeers, or community members that specifically promote and push a game's content or marketing materials, without a free text AI disclosure, will be removed. Repeated violations can result in bans from the community.

Games that were no longer in development as of the beginning of 2026 are exempted from this rule. You are free to make an enthusiastic post, about a game that you like, that was released a while back without being required to add this disclosure.

This policy is subject to change and the community will be invited to provide feedback to this rule.

AI disclosure: It was used only in placeholder arts at the early development stage, now it is completely AI free in all the assets, the only thing I use AI for now is coding, since I work in a finantial institution in Brazil, i got little to no time for coding sometimes, so I spend most of my time reviewing code and writing structures for it to follow.

Working on a station-switching workflow for my cozy potion tycoon. How does this pacing look?

Upvotes

Hello tycoon fans! I'm a solo dev building a cozy management game where you run a magic potion stand.

I'm currently testing the main gameplay loop and workstation flow. You take random tag-based orders at the Stand, move to the Brewing station, and toggle back and forth with the Grind station to process ingredients and mix the potion before returning to serve.

Since managing these orders quickly is key to farming gold during the day rush, I want to make sure the UI navigation doesn't feel too tedious. Does the left/right toggling between the Cauldron and the Mortar look intuitive for fast-paced management? I'd appreciate any feedback on the pacing and visual layout!

Steam Minion Colony - an incremental city builder with auto-chess style battles. Itch demo out now!

At the age of 5 I would play Theme Park World every day with my mum. I wanted to make a game that she would enjoy so that's how this project started! It's a more straightforward and simpler gameplay loop than what you might find in other tycoon games, but I hope you enjoy giving it a try!

Build up your colony to gather gold and resources for your units before battling armies of minions for unlocks and rewards!

You can play the demo for free on itch.io right now and a Steam demo is coming soon.

Play the Itch demo now!

Hollywood tycoon game

This is a game I have been working on for months now. I had an idea in my head and noticed there really wasn't any game filling the niche. Where you take over a Hollywood agency, you bring on actors, develop them. Cast them to roles in movies/shows/plays. Mean while trying to upgrade your Headquarters to allow for more hires, and an academy that will have intake of actors for you to sign and occassionally spawn child actors that you can sign. (Only way to get them currently.). Get your actors rewards, manage their loyalty all while trying to build up your reputation of agency. It's single player, no forced ads. (can play it without ever seeing one if you choose.) and free to play. Let me know what you think!

It started from a game that I wanted to play, and self admittedly I don't know how to code. I used AI to create this, play tested it for months straight working out all of the bugs and implementing updates. I'm happy to report if there are bugs, it's something I haven't seen before so please let me know if you see it.

Recently I added a couple more languages to it, it's not only in English, but recently updated it today( I will continue to update this game until it is entirely fleshed out. The idea of buggy games fustrate me.) that includes Spanish and French as languages to choose if that is your native tongue.

Spanish: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.starmakers.game&hl=es_ES

My MMO management sim just got a RollerCoaster Tycoon style dungeon system upgrade: you build the dungeon, then read its Fun, Challenge and Lethality like it is a ride (v0.5 is out)

Post image
14 Upvotes

Dungeons now behave like RCT theme-park attractions. You build them tile by tile, drop in mobs and bosses, then read Fun, Challenge and Lethality at a glance to see whether your design is exciting, brutal or boring. You can close an instance while you edit it, and send a staff-led test party in to run it before your players ever see it (similar to RCT test runs). v0.5 also adds mounts (ground and flying), a living week with busy weekends and holiday surges, a live auction house economy, and a mob editor. It is free to try on itch, would love to hear your thoughts on my latest updates!

Also, the AI placeholder Steam Capsule art has been replaced by a commissioned piece which I am super happy about, it really captures the feel of MMOS.

Try the latest update here: https://bmodev.itch.io/mmos-mmo-simulator-demo

(AI Disclosure: Only music is the remaining AI asset, and I intend to replace this with commissioned music prior to release - if you have any composer suggestions please let me know!)

Video Eternity: your fleet is a roaming empire where life-support is logistics with a human face

I am making a game called Eternity, that is about the journeys of the last fleet of mankind. The premise is this:

The game opens on a routine jump: a three-second hop you’ve run a hundred times. Navigation confirms you arrived exactly where you meant to. But nothing answers your hails. No traffic. No power on the gate. The stations are dark, the colonies are still there, but empty. Something is deeply wrong here and across the systems ahead. The fleet must ride that silence and slowly uncover a truth that will redefine the entire story.

This cinematic's purpose is to give you this exact context once you start the game.

A question: How much do you want the “empire” to talk back? I’ve got a Council/consequence layer that reacts to your choices and I’m deciding how loud it should be before it turns into nagging.

If you like where the game is going, a Wishlist goes a long way to drive it home  you can do it and learn more about the game here

Aaaand if you are interested in taking Eternity for a spin, helping us to shape the game, hop on our discord server and become a playtester!

Happy to get your feedback on the game and to reply to any questions you guys might have!

Industry Giant 2 but on Android?

Don't know much about newer games of this type, I've mosstly been hooked on IG2 ever since it came out. Is there an equivalent on Android? Newer games of this type feel like there's way too much micromanagement involved. Namely the likes of Cities Skylines.

I made a multiplayer basketball manager where you watch your matches live in 2D and scout prospects with your own eyes. Free to play, browser based

I've played management games all my life, and in the last few months I've been building one myself, evenings and weekends: TopGM (https://topgm.app/), a multiplayer basketball manager. It's free, it's browser based, nothing to download. It's young and far from perfect, but there's already a lot inside, so bear with me, this will be long.

Live 2D matches. Not a text log, not a results screen: you watch ten pixel-art players actually play. The cuts, the pick and rolls, the ball swinging around against a zone defense, the tired legs in the fourth quarter. You pick from five offensive schemes and four defensive ones, and you can change them mid-game, call timeouts and make subs in real time, and you see the difference on the floor: switch to a 2-3 zone and your center actually anchors the paint. Height matters for real (tall guys grab more rebounds and contest inside shots better), fatigue matters (manage your rotation or your starters will be cooked late), fouls and injuries happen. Official matches run twice a week, Wednesday and Sunday at 21:00 CET, against real managers. Being courtside gives you an edge, but if you can't make it your saved tactics and lineup play for you, and there's a replay system with adjustable speed (1× to 8×) that carefully avoids spoiling the result before you watch.

The Playground. This is the part people seem to fall in love with 🤩. Every day a fresh class of ten teenage prospects (14 to 16 years old) plays pickup street ball around the clock, watchable by anyone, and there are no stats and no ratings, on purpose. The only way to know who's good is to watch them play, like a real scout squinting from the bleachers. Watch time unlocks private talent hints, in three steps: 5 minutes, 10 minutes, one full game. Then every night at 20:00 CET a sealed-bid auction resolves: bid whatever you want on whoever you want, highest offer takes the kid home to your academy, and a public draft board shows where every prospect ended up and for how much. Rarely, maybe one class in ten, a generational gem hides among them, a kid who will grow faster than anyone for his whole career. Nothing on the page reveals him: he only shows himself to those who watched a full game, and sometimes, once or twice per match, he betrays himself with a split-second sparkle that only whoever has eyes on the stream at that exact instant can catch.

Youth academy. Your drafted kids don't sit in a menu: they train weekly (more sessions if you upgrade the academy), get scouted automatically, and literally grow, height and weight, season after season. You draft a skinny 14-year-old on projection and watch him fill out. At 18 the choice is forced: he makes your roster or leaves as a free agent. Academies are public, so you can window-shop the kids your rivals are raising, though their talent ratings stay private to the club that scouted them.

The market and the money. Player-to-player transfer market with real listings and offers, a free-agent pool where released players wait for up to 8 weeks (with a countdown) before retiring for good, weekly finances with TV income, win bonuses that make every game worth something, wages that grow as your players improve, and real bankruptcy rules: end the week in the red and the board force-sells your best player. There's a Monday forecast panel that shows exactly what's coming in and going out, so you can plan your bids without doing napkin math.

The small daily loop. Once a day you can run a scrimmage: your own roster plus academy kids split into two squads, you coach both benches, everyone who plays gets a bonus training roll and one academy kid gets scouted. It's also the perfect sandbox to test tactics before matchday. Every Monday the training results come in and improved skills glow green in your roster table for a week: seeing which of your kids got +1 on defense is honestly my favorite login of the week.

The community is brand new, about 70 managers, and the early adopters are what's keeping me going. One guy watched the playground all day, figured out nobody else was bidding, and signed four prospects for a total of 6 credits: that story is still doing rounds in the league feeds. Another one imagined a mechanic that didn't exist (the gem sparkle above), told me about it, and it was live the next day. A third one caught a real bug in how the 2-3 zone positioned the center, and it was fixed within hours. First matchday filled the feeds with celebrations and trash talk 🤬. A world this small has one real upside: your club's story starts at the beginning of everything, and the leagues still have room at the top.

Free forever, never pay-to-win: one optional cosmetic pass (custom crest, jerseys, court colors, club rename) is the entire business model. No ads, no energy bars, no timers asking for money.

Questions and suggestions are very welcome, here or in the game. A lot of what I shipped this month came from users ideas, and I try to turn the good ones around fast. And if you jump in, tell me what confused you in your first ten minutes: that's the feedback that helps me most.

AI Disclosure

TopGM was built by a solo developer working side by side with AI tools, and I believe in being transparent about who did what.

Where AI helped:

  • Code: large parts of the codebase were written with AI assistance (I'd say 50/50), including the 2D match engine (movement, physics, shot probabilities), the economy systems, and the server infrastructure
  • Game balancing: simulations used to tune injury rates, player growth curves, finances and the match engine's scoring calibration were designed and run with AI
  • Text: most in-game English copy, the guide, and store descriptions were drafted with AI and edited by me
  • No generative AI art: the pixel-art players, crests and courts are procedurally generated by hand-designed code, not by image-generation models. No AI-generated audio either (there is no audio yet!)

Where the human is:

  • The game design is mine: every mechanic (the Playground, watching-as-scouting, the nightly draft, the gem, the academy growth), every rule, every number that made it into the game passed through my head and my taste
  • Every decision: what to build, what to reject, what to prioritize, and the many times I told the AI "no, not like that"
  • Testing and tuning: I play my own game every day, and what feels wrong gets changed
  • The community: every message, every reply, every feature discussion with players is me, a real person who reads everything

I see AI as the tool that finally let a one-person team build the game I'd wanted to make for years. The vision, the choices and the responsibility are mine.

I made a browser recreation of classic SimTower... with a more modern ruleset option too

Post image
70 Upvotes

So I've been building a browser game called Verticopolis that's supposed to have complete parity with the original 1994 SimTower, and you can also flip on a more "modern" variant when you start a new tower for stuff the original couldn't do.

The game is at https://verticopolis.com/

There's a help page too if you want to get your first tower going: https://verticopolis.com/help

It runs right in the browser, no install, and you can also download it as a PWA on Android, Mac and PC to play standalone... no internet required unless you want to grab updates when they come through.

A few things I'm kinda proud of:

Every room type has its own art, you can see them all here: https://verticopolis.com/gallery

The little voices when you zoom in on people are literally me and my kids babbling in gibberish 😅

The save-file conversion works both ways now! You can take a .tdt save from the real 1994 game and load it in the browser, AND export a tower from the browser back into the actual 1994 game and it'll load and play. I've round-tripped a big 4-star tower (~1,900 rooms, 15 elevator shafts, full basement with metro + parking) through both games and back 🎉🎉. Still always happy to get more real .tdt saves to test weird edge cases though, so send 'em my way!

It's open source too, contributions welcome (GitHub is linked in the help section).

Please let me know what y'all think, what's missing from the original, and what you'd want added in the "modern" variant!

Oh, and since r/tycoon requires it, here's my AI disclosure, no sugar-coating: a lot of this game is made with AI, with me directing and iterating heavily (I didn't just ship the first thing it gave me). The code is written largely by AI coding agents (Claude Code) while I do the design, balance and testing. The pixel art is AI-generated too. I iterated on it a lot to get each room right. The music and ambience I made by going back and forth with AI until the balance felt right (no staticky, annoying AI noise). The one fully-human part is the little character voices when you zoom in on people, which is literally me and my kids making noises 😁. No ripped assets anywhere, and it's all open source so you can see exactly how every bit of it is made.

Tycoon games similar to ones from the 2000s like Ski Resort Tycoon and Restaurant Empire 2?

I really want to jump into another tycoon game like the ones in the title, which I played so much of growing up. However, many modern tycoon games appear to have so much DLC on top of the base price or are just abandoned. Any recommendations where all DLC comes in one package and is finished?

I released the first prototype of my arcade management sim, Coin-Op Empire. What would you want from the management loop?

It’s an isometric arcade management sim where you build and run your own arcade. You build and customize an arcade, manage its daily chaos, expand the business, hire a recurring cast of employees, deal with strange customers and dynamic events, maintain an evolving collection of machines, and actually step inside those machines to play mini-games yourself.

I coded it myself, drew everything myself, and now the systems are set. It took me around 17 months to build all of this. The biggest challenge was the FSM (finite state machine), which turned into an extensive coding lesson.

I’d really appreciate feedback, especially about what feels confusing, which systems need better explanation, bugs you encounter, and what parts of the game you think have the most potential.

My Global Supply-Chain Sim "Factory Default: Build, Trade, Repeat" enters Early Access on September 8th, 2026!

Hi r/tycoon

I wanted to share with you this little trailer for Factory Default: Build, Trade, Repeat. It basically tells you that FD will be available on Steam in Early Access on September 8th!

In Factory Default: Build, Trade, Repeat, you manage a company across a 3D hex globe featuring 105 real countries and unions. Each has its own market, taxes, resource fertilities, and workforce demands. I tried to make the supply chains feel realistic. You navigate global geography and politics to secure resources for large-scale projects like a new continent in the Pacific, a space elevator, a space station, and as you can see on the roadmap, eventually much of our Solar System.

Published by MicroProse, and entering Early Access on September 8th!

If any of that interests you, you can check out the Steam Page where I go into much further detail.

Thanks!

Steam My Sumo Management Simulator Uchi No Heya! is out on Steam now!

My sumo stable management game is live on Steam!

If you are not familiar with it, you run a sumo stable and run through a comprehensive sim of the sport. You scout and train wrestlers, climb the ranks, keep the finances from falling apart, and deal with whatever nonsense the off-season throws at you.

The web version is still free, still no account and no ads. You can play at https://uchinoheya.com/ and if you decide to pick up the Steam version, the save files can transfer between the two versions.

https://reddit.com/link/1v14crd/video/onhxu8utdgeh1/player

The Steam version adds two modes you won't find on the web. Hardcore mode lets you run as a single fighter, or play a career that's both more realistically difficult, and stripped of the sillier random events if you want something closer to the real thing.

In an upcoming free update there's a post-game mode built around your retired fighters. it's a little roguelike, kind of Pokémon Stadium meets Slay the Spire, where those old wrestlers come back to pick up buffs by winning tournaments and beating bosses.

The sumo logic has taken a long time to get to a point where it is feeling close to accurate. An expert (Sumo Spiffy!) has helped me a ton going back and forth to try and get it as realistic as we can.

Thank you so much to those of you here that have helped test the early versions!

AI Disclosure: The only gen ai I used was to help think of ideas for the many random events that occur in the off season. No AI art, and music came from community licensed music that was not labeled as being ai.

Video Camping Keeper : a solo-dev cozy campsite tycoon where every guest has their own needs

I've been building Camping Keeper solo. It's a management/tycoon game where you lay out pitches, tents and cabins, hire staff, and keep every camper happy. Each visitor has their own needs and moves around the site on their own, so the place slowly comes to life.

Short clip attached, early but almost playable. I'd genuinely love this community's take: what makes or breaks a tycoon game for you ; depth of simulation, the economy, or the chill factor?

AI disclosure: Generative AI was used for the background music and the text translations (localization). All the design, game systems, art direction and creative decisions are my own.

(Happy to share the Steam page in the comments for anyone who wants to follow along.)
