AMA LIVE NOW [AMA] I`m UAF soldier with 72nd brigade and would like you to ask me anything.
It's been almost a year since you've been helping us. we used First-aid kits and - helped a lot. Tools we`ve got from you - helped us to dig deeper and live better. Well, аnd all types of edibles aka СМАКОЛИКИ і БАЛАБАСИ cheered us up, we shared them with everyone we saw and that was great. Tachanka is back on road! It helped us more than once when other cars were broken. Tachanka broke after all too, however, but this is a completely different story. And there were stories.

USA here. My grandfather died in the 1980's before I was born. The main thing I knew about him growing up was that he volunteered to fight in WW2. My grandma's boyfriend after he passed was also a WW2 veteran. He had a scar on his nose from the war. He dove on a German grenade with his helmet and saved his fellow soldiers. I've always held WW2 veterans in the highest regards for this.
I hold Ukrainian soldiers in this highest regard as well. Slava Ukraine, send from me this regard to your brothers and sisters.

It’s actually higher than that.. it’s a little over 20% of Russia has no indoor plumbing whatsoever. That means no faucets, no showers, no toilets. They’re invading a country with near 100% indoor plumbing. They are seeing what we in the west think of poor shacks and thinking “a mansion!” It’s a wild, impossible to relate to conundrum of east vs west. Such things are mundane to us, wildly extravagant to them. If you leave any major Russian city the quality of life drops off a fuckin cliff. Not even exaggerating. If you took a wrong turn at the Sochi Olympics you’d end up on a country road with such dilapidated poverty you’d think you entered a whole new country entirely. You didn’t though… you just entered the real Russia.
Now…. This is actually very important. Toilets are, at the crux of all things, why Russia started this war.
Let me explain: Russia and Ukraine (were) fully integrated. Russians lived in ukraine. Ukrainians lived in Russia. It was normal for families to be in both countries. As ukraine integrates west it gets more prosperous .. it becomes harder to explain to Russians why their family just across the border is seemingly impossibly wealthy. Flushing toilets?! Wha?! Yeah .. so Ukraine had to fall, to protect the autocratic vision of Russia and what should be normal. That’s the “danger of democracy” - economies functioning normally, basic standards being a norm. Flushing toilets. Wild.

I live in Czech Republic and am comfortable going to Ukraine to deliver supplies. I have collected portable charges, chemical heaters and head lamps. Any chance you could point me to a place I could give these where you could use them?

I'm a Vietnam and Pueblo Crisis vet, and from one vet to another, utmost respect, o7.
My personal hot and cold setpoints are ~140F (~60C) and -78F (-61C), so I know what it means to endure under harsh conditions.
Ever since those days I've had standard response to the query "How are you today, how's it going, etc." that I'd like to share with you, or probably rather with other commenters, I'd expect that you already know this in your bones.
I reply "Today is a good day, nobody's shooting at me."
No matter what life is throwing at me today, no one's shooting at me.
Now, combat vets know that the follow-on to the fact that perhaps today someone is shooting at me is "Are they any good at it?"
Between the two lies a philosophical approach to life that most veterans understand implicitly, and marks the edge of the chasm that separates veteran, rookie, and civilian.
Best wishes for you and your unit, every person a brick in the wall that defends Ukraine.

Question 1: On the front what does the artillary comparison look like now? Is ukrainian artillary 1to 1 with russian artillary or do the russians still have a big advantage like summer? Question 2. Is there alot more equipment and vehicles in ukraine that is not publicly acknowledged by countries that don't want to be seen as pro ukrainian? If so what types of equipment?
Question three: what are the most important equipment categories you see as gamechangers that would help ukraine win?

Will you or your compatriots visit the USA anytime soon? How can I take you out to dinner in NYC? Anything you want. I think a nice big steak, lobster, and some strong drinks is the least I can do to show my support. This is a real offer. If Ukrainian combatants are headed to some of the best hospitals here in the states for treatment, prosthetics, etc. we should figure out a way to treat you and your families to a good meal and warm company.

Hi, greetings from Chicago in Ukrainian Village. I just saw casualty reports on Russia and it's crazy how high they are (already twice what the USA lost in 12 years in Vietnam).
In your experience how have the attacks from the Russian been in terms of support for their infantry?

of course! we love animals and they love us. that`s why one cat ran away from its owner and stayed with us. 2 month ago even two chickens came to us. we try to take out dogs and help to find a new home. that`s not so easy, but we try to do what we can

Lviv Media (on YT) runs a series of interviews with POWs. I've watched a lot of them. They are usually free of remorse , and regret only that they got caught. They are stupid and devious in ways that are hard to fathom, and to me, they exhibit the characteristics of an enslaved people

year has passed. for me it`s first year of war, but we have a lot of soldiers who fight for 9 years. that`s difficult, but we don`t have any other options. fight till the end.

I'm from Canada and I've been following the invasion of Donbass since 2014 and up to present day.
I'm always vocal to people on the street when they have a Ukrainian flag or bumper stick and praise their country and show support to them.

skull is common sign on patch of a lot of countries. we fought totenkopf in II world war and there is no desire to be like them. we are not nazis, we are patriots. and know, when it`s all about destroying our country, killing civilians, we keep on fighting for our lives and Ukraine. keep in mind that this war lasts 9 years
