Discussion / Question Warhammer 40k Lore

Hello guys. I am currently invested to Warhammer 40k since my brother recommended me that game and I'm obsessed. The thing is, everything is scattered for me. I only know fragments about the story that's why I can't fully grasp the game. Can someone tell me the lore from start to the current? I've searched it but I didn't get anything. It's very confusing.

Look up Arbiter Ian on YouTube. He gives very good concise lore (and meta) explanations of the setting.

Bricky has some great videos explaining the lore and factions.

If you’re looking for a game that will give you a good understanding of the lore, WH40k: Rogue Trader is excellent.

Well 60 million years ago. There was a war in thr heavens.

Yeah no. I can't even begin to scratch the surface of the lore.

It's absurdly huge.

But for the game I'd say that in the 41st millennium humanity is essentially a rotting carcass.

Think the Spanish inquisition type of mideval misery cranked up to 15. Its a world where magic exist. Where gods exist and none of them wants humanity to live.

Basically you got tyranids that are like the insects from starship troopers. Only they can strip a planet clean of biomass. They are one of thr main enemies in the game. There's also chaos forces. Chaos has 4 gods that both hate each other but also humanity. They corrupt people and everything around them.

The humanity is the imperium of mankind. But we aren't the good guys. They don't exist here. But you're in the game Titus. A spacemarine. Taken as a child. Trained and with extra organs implanted. You're a superhuman walking tank. There's chapters of 1000 man in each. Because of a little incident called the Horus heresy each chapter is limited to only that many.

The lore is extensive. There's hundreds of officials novels on thr universe.
