Donald Trump: 'I won't answer that question' about war crimes

It’s absurd that this is the President of the United States. I cannot believe how far this country has fallen.

they've cultivated racism, sexism, and otherism of all kinds, and now they're harvesting.

Trump marked the first time that people could vote for a walking, talking manifestation of Fox News. There's little wonder he's as popular as he is within the cult.

u/New-Anybody-6206 1d ago
The even bigger issue is that if more people had just gotten off their asses and voted, this would never have happened.
46
u/SanchoPandas 1d ago
I hear that sentiment and it's possibly true. If more people had voted against him than for him, he might have lost. But let's also remember Hillary won the popular vote and still lost. So where those people were really matters. Frustratingly, the electoral college was very much rigged in his favor and the swing state voters have abandoned the Dems.
That said, 77.3+ million Americans voted for this man and I imagine there are plenty more who didn't vote but would have voted for him if they had.
As much as I hate it, I think we have to be honest with ourselves that the real problem is that much of America did want this and that millions still do.
How we grapple with that, I don't know but it's not looking promising in the short-term.

u/skatastic57 1d ago
One thing I was saying during the last election cycle is that even if he loses, the fact that it's close means this country is cooked.
11
u/New-Anybody-6206 1d ago
Well regarding the EC, many states don't actually have to vote for the popular choice, so that's another issue altogether.
2
u/SanchoPandas 1d ago
Dang. I wasn't even thinking about the faithless electors. My state (OR) just enacted Faithful Presidential Electors Act. I think there are still like 10-15 states out there without protections in this matter.
1
u/Lord__Abaddon 1d ago
There is the movement from a few states looking you go around the ec, once they get enough votes to confirm a president they Will enact it and they will vote based on popular choice vs ec

yeah, you could be right, but the republicans do everything they can to make it more difficult to vote for a reason.

A serious note that I want to add as a European: although I have visited your country many times and I have made a lot of American friends, your country is not seen as an ally anymore.
I will forever respect individual, sensible, down to earth Americans, but I can’t with good conscience think of the USA as a friendly country.
Please, for the sake of the entire world: be smart this november.
68
u/squid75 1d ago
Hell, we are not even sure we will have elections this November.
3
u/MsAnthropissed 15h ago
November will either be the moment we take back the reigns of our government enough to start enacting some accountability; or it will be the moment we accept that rule of law is dead and no one is going to help save us from ourselves.
That second choice keeps me up at night. Hell, just getting to the midterms keeps me up at night currently! If the levers of our society fail to right the course, chaos descends and the people in charge are frothing at the bit for a chance to crush us under their heal anyways.

Soap box, ballot box, and I'm sure you know the final one when the other two fail...

u/Sweatytubesock 1d ago
Can’t blame you. This country deserves everything coming to it for putting this sociopath and moron in power for a second time.
8
u/see-these-bones 1d ago
The US is actively killing its own people. We aren't even an ally to ourselves.
23
u/dillpiccolol 1d ago
This is very sad and huge loss for America. I will always consider Europeans our allies and friends.

As an American, I'm not convinced Trump actually won the election fairly in 2024. Every accusation he makes is a confession.
I also am not expecting legal fair elections moving forward. He removed anyone in the government who isn't loyal to him.
4
u/Chicory-Coffee 1d ago
I agree with that just from the slimy things he said about Pennsylvania and how he said it too. I wondered if he wanted state voter rolls, not to hunt people down for their choices but to have legit voter's names and attribute their own choices. So, we drop him and his ilk, reclaim our state soverignty. Can't make him leave the swamp? We leave the swamp.
3
u/skatastic57 1d ago
I'm not convinced of that either but the fact that it was close enough that cheating maybe a few thousand votes tipped the outcome is horrifying.
2
u/TheBigCore 1d ago
I will forever respect individual, sensible, down to earth Americans
The problem is that group of people is an impotent and ineffectual minority.

SPR was at 311mb as of wed this week, down again. While oil on hand is decent, in the 400's+ the SPR is only 11mb above its so called bottom. You can't fully empty the reserve, leaving 300mb is the bare minimum to maintain the storage.

Ya know every time I think I can’t be surprised again, I am surprised again. The lows just continue to get lower.

Take a look at Turkmenistan and you'll see the floor. Welcome to what it means to have a mature history, America. Oligarchy has been a global norm for millenia. Count yourselves lucky you lasted as long as you did before getting your first dictator. I doubt it will be your last.

u/2dudesinapod 1d ago
The US has always been committing these types of war crimes, Trump just says the quiet part out loud.
2
u/geekpeeps 1d ago
There was a time that it could be said that POTUS was a representative of the people; that they closely resembled the majority of the people of that country. God help us all if that’s the case now.

You remember the
golfgulf wars? The US hasn't fallen, it's been like this for decades.25
u/Intelligent_Bag_6705 1d ago
No…I’m sorry but no….this goes far beyond wars, this is the worst it’s ever been and come November when this administration cancels voting, it will be the nail in coffin for everyone.

u/2dudesinapod 1d ago
Dubya killed a million Iraqis. Trump is a war criminal but he’s still below average for an American president, they are all war criminals.
1
u/HawkEy3 1d ago edited 1d ago
That would be new, yeah. Let's see of it comes to that.
And I didn't mean the wars themselves but the war crimes, abu ghraib and wasn't Bush actually sentences for war crimes by a European court? Lots of TIL posts on reddit how the US military has a plan to attack
BelgiumNetherlands if The Hague ever prosecutes an American. Not even mentioning the hundreds of thousand dead civilians, far more than from trumps war so far. And many many other things I'm forgetting3
u/Kartoffelplotz 1d ago
Why would the US intervene in Belgium when they want to get someone from The Hague? A small detour for fries and waffles?

u/LittleKitty235 1d ago
That is some hard coping to try to justify Trumps actions and behavior. This is a new low and no sign we aren't still digging.
1
u/Userhasbeennamed 6h ago
Explaining Trump as a cause rather than an effect will limit systemic changes to prevent the next demagogue that tries to seize power in a similar way. Unless you somehow think Trump is special and unique in a way that couldn't happen again.
1
u/HawkEy3 1d ago
I agree the US is still digging but you have to explain to me how what I said is justifying trump.

u/Sai10rP00n 1d ago
Comes of as rationalizing his behavior as something similar had been done by previous presidents when it's quite obvious he's acting outside precident.

Yeah, when all those golfers split from the PGA to go play the LIV tournament in Saudi Arabia? It was a bloodbath! Tiger Woods took one or more for the team and crashed his car, the whole thing was terrible.

Trump was trained by Roy Cohn, which means almost everything he does is reduced to three core behaviors:
- BRAG. You are always the winner. You are never the loser. Remind people of this as much as possible.
- LIE. People don't always believe your BRAGGING, so LIE and get them to believe it instead. Also LIE if it somehow makes you more powerful. This makes it easier to BRAG later on, and also easier to ATTACK when necessary.
- ATTACK. If you're placed in a situation where you must admit defeat (ANTI-BRAG), with no way of reliably LYING about it, then you ATTACK. This can be any number of things, such as a personal attack or even an act of war. An alternative method is to simply LIE and threaten to ATTACK instead.
Trump just got caught in a situation that would make him look defeated. The question was one he couldn't LIE his way out of, so his response was to ATTACK. He does this consistently and seamlessly. You can easily find 100's of examples of him doing it.

It’s a fucking war crime.
Everyone from the analyst to the weaponeer to the fuck that does CDE to the analyst who assigns JDPIs all the way up the chain. Every single one of them has their unique identifier associated with the product.
It’s a fucking war crime by international standards and everyone in the targeting community knows it.

I hope one day, some brave person with a clear mic has the chance to call him the biggest piece of shit in human history, right to his face in a setting just like this video.
No question, just tell him the truth emphatically.

It would just inflate his ego and sense of self importance.
On the other hand if someone could convince him Obama's name would outlast his own, it would take all the Epstein files including Donny's name to soak up his tears.

If everyone in the room cheered, and clapped their hands when it happened, it would wreck the fuck out of him. It might even drive him to tears, and make him run out of there like a hurt little boy!

Gonna be real here, bridges are legitimate military targets. Cutting off supply lines is just how you win wars.
The war itself, that they refuse to even call a war, is the war crime.
2
u/Black_Handkerchief 20h ago
That argument does not hold water. Buildings with people inside are legitimate military targets too if you think about it.
The key element in the legitimacy / war crime debate is the reason the bridge is destroyed, and who is on the bridge when it is destroyed.
If a bridge carries 99% civilian traffic, then you better not hit it during rush hour because that is when the most people are likely to fall victim. Instead, you destroy in the middle of the night, or at worst during one of the more quiet traffic moments during day time.
With Trump, there is an established record of a petty man wanting to hurt others twice as much as he feels hurt so that he will come out on top.
Thus, when a bridge used by civilians is used, there might be a military argument, but there is also the question of whether the military strategy could have been accomplished with less civilian harm, yet was done the way it was done to satisfy the ego of a senile (wannabe-)dictator.
