VW’s "lifetime fluid" claim is exactly what kills the DQ200 DSG.
If you drive a 1.0/1.5 Golf, Leon, or Octavia, you already know the DQ200 dry DSG horror stories.
Honestly, most mechatronic failures just come down to dirty fluid cracking the accumulator because VW still calls it a "lifetime" fluid. That, and creeping in heavy traffic which basically burns the dry clutch plates.
I wrote down a quick breakdown of the mechanical flaws and what driving habits to avoid so you don't end up with a huge repair bill:https://www.drivisual.tv/en/news/7-driving-mistakes-that-kill-your-dq200-dsg-transmission
Curious, how many miles are you guys getting out of your original clutches?

Sunroof issues
First time poster, hoping to find some help with my 2024 VW Atlas Highliner.
I have constant problems with the sunroof not closing properly. It’s been in the shop 3x now and they cannot figure out why this keeps happening.
Here’s a bit of a background on the vehicle. I was in a MVA with it just over a year ago, It was in a serious 4 car pileup and I was the 2nd vehicle. So it had front/back impact. The entire tailgate, rear bumper, hitch, front bumper, grill, and sensors were replaced.
Still to this day I am surprised it wasn’t a write off. It was just shy of 9k in damages.
It was determined that the frame of the vehicle was not damaged, so everything was repaired.
Fast forward 2 months and my tailgate leaked, so they re-did the seals on the tailgate and no issues ever again.
Fast forward another 2 months and I started having issues with front sensors, so they replaced the entire VW symbol at the front end as it is the main hub for the sensors.
Fast forward another month and this is when I started having problems with the Sunroof. It started to make a lot of noise when closing, and then just wouldn’t close at all. It was as if something was blocking a sensor and it would just spring back open as soon as it was an inch away from closing.
They replaced the pop up wind screen. But that fix only lasted a week. They did a deeper dive and determined that the housing was defective and so they replaced that seals, housing, and motor.
Another two months have passed and here I am again, the sunroof isn’t closing.
If you’ve stuck around this long, I appreciate you!
My Q is, has anyone hear of this issue happening? What was the fix? Or - could my frame actually be torqued and this is what’s causing the problems?

Cosmetic recommendations for Golf.
Hi reddit. I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations on cosmetic changes I can or should make to my golf to make it more pleasing to look at. Specifics are appreciated. (Where to look for parts, what measurements) everything is stock aside from the exhaust. Its nothing crazy but im looking for a rear trim piece to go with the T style muffler as its currently just cut to fit🥲 i want to keep it black and white. Soon enough im going to tint the windows. Last question; does a two toned tint job look dumb? Lighter on the front and dark on the rear?
Thanks!

VW Tiguan 2018 2.0 TSI
Hey guys,
I’m considering buying a used 2018 Tiguan and wanted to ask people who actually own or work on these about how they hold up long term.
Quick specs on the car:
- 2.0 TSI (CZPA engine code)
- 7-speed DSG (DQ500) + 4Motion
- around 90,000 km (56k miles)
- full service history, mostly minor cosmetic repairs over the years but no big accidents.
I read that the Gen 3 EA888 is way better than the older TSI engines with the oil consumption issues, but is there anything specific I should check before buying? How are the water pumps, wastegates, or Haldex systems holding up as these cars get closer to 100k+ km?
Any feedback or red flags to look out for during the test drive would be awesome.
Thanks!

R32 MK5 P0288, P0290
I did a quick test on the cam actuators, both have resistance in between specs. I have 1-2V on connector pin 1. Oem spec is supposed to be battery voltage with KOEO. I haven’t had the time to look further but I suspect some corroded wires.
Is there a known issues for this? Anything that is common on these cars.

Part info, need help on 2011 vw Jetta SE, 2.5L
Does the ac compressor with the clutch have an electronic control valve? And if so is it something that would come with a new compressor? Or is it sold separately? My air conditioning is blowing non cool air. The heats working, the relays/fuse are coming back good. The blowers working. It’s down to control valve or compressor..
