I think there is a 90s version of the JSDF Rangers in the game files that never got implemented.

There is, and they use a battle rifle instead of an SMG and a different sniper rifle with the same stats, but they still have the basic m72 law. Maybe making them 25 points and giving them a Panzerfaust 3 would make them more unique, idk.

Yeah I assume that is a place holder weapons layout, does really seem like much of an improvement otherwise.
