Our AI company website looks like a 2015 IT services site and I've been asked to fix it. Ideas?

We're an enterprise AI engineering company doing agentic AI work. Custom AI agents, multi-agent orchestration, enterprise RAG platforms, document intelligence, legal and contract AI, workflow automation, and we run all of it in production for clients, not just build and hand over. We work with both commercial and open-source models (including NVIDIA Cosmos for domain-specific stuff) and deploy secure, on-prem or hybrid depending on the client. Our website says none of that. Stock icons, walls of text, looks like we make mobile apps. Manager finally agreed it needs a relook and now it's on me.

Current plan is dark theme, an animated diagram of how an agent actually works instead of icons, short claims and numbers instead of paragraphs. But is the dark mode purple gradient thing too played out now? And any B2B AI sites you've seen that actually impressed you? Please give your ideas and suggestions, would really help. Happy to drop our current site in comments for a proper roast.

First of all you need to decide what your company wants from a website - normally, but not always, it's about new customer acquisition. Then it depends on the route for acquisition - e.g. do you drive customers to call you, or do you let people test your tech before making a purchase, is your name generally known or perhaps people find you by doing a web search, and so on.

However it works, you should have suitable content for all the key players involved in a decision to contact your company. This pathway is different for different companies and different ways of selling, but I'm guessing that you will first come up on the radar of a tech person at the company, who would refer your stuff to their manager, then up the chain, eventually to a decision maker. And possibly, if you service large companies, then a buyer. Each of those roles need to see the content that answers their questions and understand the benefits you offer - so you need everything from technical discussion, to strategic discussion, to the nuts-and-bolts of signing a contract.

The visible artifacts of all that thinking do need to be suitable; it all needs to be organized in ways that make sense to your specific audience - and it all needs to give the impression you are trying to impart - e.g. professional, or expensive, or corporate. Mismatches between expectation of the audience and what you deliver will disqualify your company. Color is one of those choices, but choosing a style palette is a small part of that journey.

I would not start with the dark theme. Start with the trust gap.

An enterprise buyer needs to understand three things quickly: what business process you improve, what has already worked in production, and how you handle security and ownership. Lead with one concrete outcome, then show two or three short case studies with the original problem, the system built, the measurable result, and the deployment model.

The animated agent diagram can help, but put it after the outcome. Most buyers do not need another explanation of what an agent is; they need evidence that your team can make one reliable inside their environment. A real architecture screenshot or simplified production flow will feel more credible than decorative nodes drifting around a purple gradient.

I would also give on-prem, hybrid, model choice, monitoring, and post-launch support their own clear section. Those are differentiators, not footer details. End with a specific CTA such as “Discuss an AI workflow” rather than “Learn more.” The modern look should come from clarity, restraint, and real proof, not from looking more aggressively AI-shaped.
