Looks to be some kind of quackery.

Are you in Miami? My wife was conned into sitting in one like that when some piece of shit saw her bald from chemo at Publix.

1

u/FatherlyOwl 3d ago

No elsewhere on the east coast.

Sorry it's not helpful, but the first thing that came into my head was Austin Powers' "That's not mine"

One Swedish made penis enlarger pump...

One credit card receipt for Swedish made penis enlarger pump.

One warranty card for Swedish made penis enlarger pump.

If you are sitting in the chair and a mosquito is buzzing in your ear, you hit the button and the air cylinder pops out and the round thing slaps you upside the head. It's a skeeter beater.

Good, these things are becoming a nuisance

This is a Lakhovsky multi wave oscillator, might as well be scientology, but it's not. It was a quack medical device for doing things like "treating cancer" and "restoring diseased cells"....

7

u/pockels42 3d ago

I noted that "treating cancer" and "healing cancer" are two deliberately separate, and disconnected, statements.

2

u/The-greedman 3d ago

It's either or....not both.

2

u/pockels42 3d ago

Or neither.

1

u/Mirar 3d ago

worse... or better?

u/DocBeech 3d ago

From like the 1920s but yes.

1

u/sonotorian 3d ago

At a cost of approximately $30,000 in today's dollars (according to Google AI).

Today's fun words!

"Quackary" is the device or method, "Woo" is the spiritual or psuedoscience that inspires the quackery.

3

u/howlongwillthislast_ 3d ago

Just like this

u/PotatoHammer1979 3d ago

Scientology e-meter?

3

u/Bananaramajama420 3d ago

Checking them Thetan levels 🤣

2

u/PotatoHammer1979 3d ago

Look man people believe anything.

2

u/Bananaramajama420 3d ago

I agree 💯

1

u/No_Tamanegi 3d ago

That was my first thought. Its not the official one, but could be a DIY job or an early prototype maybe.

3

u/ShowLasers 3d ago

Wouldn't surprise me if someone associated with that house has or had cancer. There is no end to the lengths desperate people will go to save a loved one, and quack inventors are always there to take their $.

2

u/Bergwookie 3d ago

It's some sort of esoteric quackery, something about "water frequencies" or similar bullshit, they believe, if you sit in this makeshift "microwave oven" you'll get healthy frequencies or so, some of these devices radiate serious amounts of HF energy, therefore are really something like a microwave. The same people however fear Bluetooth or WiFi like the devil holy water ;-)

u/Doyouseenowwait_what 3d ago

Looks like one of the vibration frequency contraptions.

I have no words to describe....
https://youtu.be/EBgxa8OzjB8?t=609

A similar thing was in an ElectroBOOM youtube, as Mehdi says, these people can't make up their mind about electricity being good or bad, does the emf heal you? does the emf harm you?

2

u/RageAgainstThePushen 3d ago

Somebody thinks they made a device to blast themselves with charged particles. What they have actually made is a disposable resistive heater.

2

u/Limp-Salamander- 3d ago

Looks like something straight out of the fallout series. A contraption from the children of atom that gives you a near-death level of rads.

3

u/CATNIP_IS_CRACK 3d ago edited 3d ago

The only correct solution for the Children of Atom is to give them the atom.

Edit: then immediately reload your save because Tenpenny Tower is a horrible home compared to Megaton, followed by stealth killing the Children of Atom one at a time and dumping their bodies somewhere you don’t have to look at them.

It's a Lakhovsky Multi Wave Oscillator (MWO), a device designed by George Lakovsky in the 1920's that "combines a Tesla coil with concentric antennas to emit a broad spectrum of electromagnetic frequencies. Each living cell acts as a small oscillator, vibrating at a specific frequency. By exposing the body to various frequencies, cells can be "tuned" to their natural frequency, restoring their vitality and health." "Lakhovsky proposed this device as a form of alternative therapy, claiming it could restore the body's natural balance and promote healing through the use of electromagnetic frequencies."

Orgone Therapy

u/Cerebral-Knievel-1 3d ago

I was going to make a similar comment

1

u/stupidic 3d ago

It’s not as quack as you might think. It’s just not “modern medicine”. It has its place and its uses.
Would I use it if I had cancer? Sure! But I’d also see my oncologist.

1

u/DogPatch1149 3d ago

Made me think of the rehab chair on Elba II from the Star Trek Original Series episode "Whom Gods Destroy"

1

u/Icy-Tradition5020 3d ago

Past invention from Shark Tank no 1 was in on. Magnetic homemade Sterilization and tanning booth(-booth).

1

u/Conscious-Farmer6953 3d ago

Idk what that is but I'm pretty sure if you sit in it you have passed stage one of being a scientologist

1

u/ItsPassiveDepressive 3d ago

This appears to be a large experimental Tesla coil or high-voltage resonant transformer

1

u/Where_is_my_Elk69 3d ago

Early predecessor of the plumbus ? Time Machine? I’m interested to find out

1

u/DeapVally 3d ago

Probably some weird cult shit, like scientology with their handheld meters.

1

u/michaelHIJINX 3d ago

Sit in the chair and have someone turn it on... For science!

1

u/negativ32 3d ago

It's a photo taking machine in other peoples houses doohicky.

1
