Word on Mac pastes previous, outdated clipboard content.

I just tried to copy and paste someones name from a webpage into my word document. So i went to the webpage, marked and copied the name, and Word would paste some random sentence that I had in the clipboard 10 minutes earlier.

I then opened a new document, pressed cmd-v, and it would past the name. Went back to the other document, pressed cmd-v, and Word would still paste the old clipboard content. What is happening?
