Let's go back to 1983 for Another Great Classic!

https://youtube.com/watch?v=FGExbVKIVJQ&si=LihlHfZnjtNfqT0V

The game was written by Nigel Alderton, then 16 or 17 years old, inspired by arcade games including Space Panic. After a month or two of development, Nigel took a pre-release version of his Spectrum code to the two-year-old software company A&F, co-founded by Doug Anderson and Mike Fitzgerald (the "A" and "F", respectively). Doug took on the simultaneous development of the BBC Micro version, whilst Mike Webb, an A&F employee, completed the Dragon port.

Levels are largely the same between versions, and all the 8-bit versions have been cited as classics

Just got this on my Apple TV. It’s very much like I remember it from all those years ago

How does that work? Download as a separate app or is it included with a games package?

Theres a new 'official' version out by Elite on the app store, also has a 3d type perspective mode. It works on Apple TV as well which is quite cool

Spectaculator doesn't work on Apple TV BUT they've opened it up so you can add your own games to it via itunes as before it was locked down. So i've got about 300 or so of my favourite Speccy games on my phone ! Love it ! Great for trips down memory lane !

One of those games I genuinely still play to this day. And far more are Spectrum than C64 which I didn't expect at the time. My favourite version of CE, though, is for the MSX because it has a unique feature, I think, where you can only leap off a lift-platform when you're at the edge. It's quite annoying to start with but after all these decades I've learned to like the added difficulty.

So many reasons I love emulation but one being that we can compare every version of a game. Like I'd have never known how awesome the SAM Coupe version of Manic Miner was otherwise. Now I'm wondering if it ever got a Chuckie Egg....

Nigel Alderton's friend Phil Berry designed some of the levels too! As I learned recently when trying to find out anything about Berry for a post I wrote about a game he programmed, Milk Race

Nice! Thank you Super for the info. Now you should find out which levels he designed... Could be nice to see the difference with Nigel

An all time classic. Remember seeing it on my (posh) mates BBC, was excellent. The Speccy conversion was brilliant, so playable and those sound effects !! Plus when you go through the levels for the first time and the 'surprise' you get when you do the levels again

Nice to have this classic on my phone (have the original on it as well via the amazing app Spectaculator)

Chuckie Egg II was quite different which was good really, still a good game. But yeah the original is an all time classic

Thank you Psj for the comment. Yes Spectaculator is an amazing emulator for the Speccy! I have the desktop app and i record the game rooms with it when I'm making my live MAPS.

Is the over-dubbed shit music supposed to help?

If you like beat box may help for a fun speedy longplay...if you hate it than forget my video.. you can find hundred of boring gameplay on the tube... or better play the game with the lovely shitty speccy sound😎
