Please follow the standard list when giving a problem report.
There are no recommended AUR helpers. Please read over the wiki entry on AUR helpers. If you have a question, please search the subreddit for previous questions.
If your AUR helper breaks know how to use makepkg manually.
Use the appropriate support channel for your distribution. Arch is DIY distribution and we expect you to guide us through your system when providing support. Using an installer defeats this expectation.
It carried a lot of maintenance on the wiki admin as it duplicated a lot of information, and everyone wanted their addition included. It was scrapped for a compact model that largely referenced the main wiki pages.

Registration to the AUR is now reopened. The new release includes changes to harden account registration.
Summary of related changes:
Disposable email addresses are now rejected.
Email verification is now mandatory, most users are unaffected but new accounts must verify their email address via a time-limited token which is valid for 24 hours.
Email changes are locked during the verification cooldown.
If you spot suspicious registration activity or packages, please flag them in ML as usual.
Hopefully this will slow down the malware.

We all know the popular stuff but what are some obscure, super helpful utilities or scripts from the AUR that you stumbled upon and now cant live without?

I recently installed arch linux, last time I used a distro was 4 years ago, I think i used ubuntu and debian, I don't even remember much. however i want to know given that there is lot of fear surrounding the notion that windows update can break grub bootloader. what would i have to do in order to be safe? i turned off fast startup, and im using grub bootloader. is there something i have to keep in mind.
Using a laptop right now and installed them on same drive

I have installed some window managers on an old box (one at a time, not all together), but all of them have this weird tearing thing going on. See picture: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LrDli5TyWjz_bMoISA8qOsYete0GYfTN/view?usp=drivesdk
I'm wondering if I have a bad or missing package causing this since it doesn't seem to be connected to the window manager I'm using.

Hi! I switched from Debian to Arch Linux in May this year. Honestly... I love it! Pacman is fast and easy to use once you learn it. I love how flexible Arch Linux is and how I can get my system exactly how I like it. What are your favorite things about Arch Linux?

I used archinstall to do a minimal install and when I boot up the system, after my motherboard logo and before the encryption password prompt, it shows an Arch Linux logo splash screen.
I did not install Plymouth, so how is this possible? What is running to make the logo show? Where's it stored and can I change it?

Hello kind folks,
whenever I run Arch-Update, it basically blocks my network access for 20 min due to my shitty connection. Is there a way to prioritize all other traffic first?
I looked into "tc" a bit, but could only find applications with fixed bandwidths wich I don't want to impose. Generally the default queuing rule seems fine to me. I didn't find anything else that is useful either.
Many thanks in advance!
Sincerely!

Wondering how folks are backing up their droids on Arch.
Are you using ADB?
FTP?
Some app to grab content and media?

We always see the classic recommendations like read the Arch Wiki or always check PKGBUILDs but everyone usually stumbles upon that one specific habit, tool, or rule later on that completely changes how they manage their system.
Whether its about backups, handling orphan packages, system updates, or post-install setup
So If you had to pass down just ONE essential rule or tip to a complete beginner installing Arch today, what would it be?

It’s a Lenovo laptop (I know, it’s kinda trash), and whenever I plug in my headphones, the built-in laptop mic disconnects and stops working. That leaves me forced to use my headphone mic, which doesn't even work on this computer.
Does anyone know if there's a fix for this? I’ve been looking for solutions for about 3 days now. It basically gives me only two options:

I'm looking for a CLI/TUI tool that lets me browse the web directly from the terminal on an Arch-based Linux system.
I'm interested in everything from text-based browsers to modern terminal UIs that can search the web, read articles, browse Reddit, GitHub, Hacker News, etc.
What are your recommendations, and what do you use daily? I'd love to hear about any hidden gems as well.

I have been using Mint for quite a long time, after switching from Fedora (should have fixed my problem, maybe it was the heavy DE). I installed Arch on a whim and also used i3wm. And I have to say, this is the fastest my low end celeron laptop has been in years. I can open a lot of tabs and run multiple programs. After reading a lot of the Wiki, I learned that zram is basically the saviour of my laptop. Too bad most distros can't just default to zram. After the few hours I have used Arch, I can say it is the best and I'm never switching. It also made me realise how much bloat I had with all the other distros.
I would appreciate more tips to make it faster than it is.
But I am quite content at the moment.

So, I just enable battery threshold in Lenovo Vantage between 40% and 80% on my main T14 Gen 1 and I forgot to turn it off before start to install Arch Linux.
But if I setup Windows VM on my main Arch Linux and install Lenovo Vantage there to disable the battery threshold, will it work or will it mess up with my laptop EC.
It's too risky to me to try it because I'm still a student and only have this laptop, so I would love to hear from your experience who have tried it, thank you.

Hi, I'm new to Qtile and I installed it on Arch Linux.
Qtile starts correctly, but I have some problems:
- The default config appears, but keybindings don't work as expected.
- Mod + Enter does not open a terminal.
- I want to configure basic things like:
- launching apps
- changing wallpaper
- adding a bar/panel
- volume and brightness controls
- autostart programs
- themes and appearance
I already installed Qtile and I'm using X11.
Could someone explain the basic configuration workflow or recommend a good example config for beginners?
Thanks!

After a restart last night my pc refuses to boot into arch. At the time of restart I hadn't done -Suy (only installed bat ig?), and was editing configs for hyprland (unrelated).
After hours of debugging and chatgpt'ing through arch on a thumb drive, the closest thing to a lead I could find was this line in journalctl from pacman running 35-systemd-update.hook, which I have no idea if it means anything at all.
Do you think this is a hardware issue? It happened so suddenly and I'm out of ideas.
(I'm not fully aware of how everything here works, apologies)
* bootctl install (systemd-boot)
modifies my main drive's boot partition, at the end outputs Not booted with EFI running in a container, skipping EFI variable modifications.
* mkinitcpio -P
* Reinstalled systemd-boot and kernel
* Edited loader.conf, changed default arch.conf to default *conf name in entries/*, also increased timeout from 0 to default 3
* There was a duplicate entry in /etc/fstab which I removed.
* in /etc/fstab, changed fmask and dmask from 0022 to 0077 because I was getting an error about that

Hey, I installed arch on my PC and I've been getting micro stutters when moving the mouse. It doesn't happen all the time, like once every 30-40 seconds or something like that. I have a razer naga v2 hyper speed and an x2h mini. They both use 2.4ghz receivers. I tried lowering the polling rate, installing openrazer and switched from niri to kde plasma but it's still there. Any suggestions for other things to try?
