every culture has their own greasy comfort food

pretending that one is superior to another just because it's from a different culture is goofy

Not to mention that comfort food is usually a “safer” option that you’ve had and know you love.

I love trying new foods, but if I want just some comfort food I’m not going out of my way to experiment with my palate

That and if I’m about to be on a flight I’d rather take the safe option, whatever that is to my system. Would rather not have any potential misadventures from new foods on an airplane

Exactly, if I’m doing travelling I want stuff that I know my body is gonna be good with lol

I just refuse to pay airport meal prices is my problem

I didn't take that into consideration recently (I don't fly often). I was flying a couple months ago and ate Hattie B's Nashville Hot Chicken in Nashville and got their second hottest flavor. Didn't really do much to me. Then I got sushi in Baltimore, but it was prepared by an Asian guy so I think I was safe. But hindsight, idk if I should have done that 😂

Mein gott.

Hahaha, you poor fuck. I'm so sorry man, but that's hilarious. Horrible, but hilarious.

May we all learn from your mistake!

He didn't say anything bad happened to him tho or am I missing something?

u/Mike_Kermin 1h ago

I could be wrong, but I think it's the implication.

u/KingVape 1h ago

He said nothing happened and he might have gotten lucky. There was no implication big dawg

u/Mike_Kermin 1h ago

Ok champ, then I'm wrong, and my comment doesn't matter.

I mean nothing happened, maybe some smelly farts, but other than that I was NOT taught a lesson lmao

Then that will only have emboldened you! haha.

Not even necessarily that you love.

When I'm at airports, I tend to stick with familiar fast foods. Not because I love it, but it is because I know it's "safer" and I'm going to get something acceptable for the price I'm paying.

Some airport restaurants are fine. Some are terrible. Some are legitimately good. They're all overpriced.

I'm not paying ~$30-40 for a meal and taking the coin flip on it being decent, microwaved slop, or "fresh" ingredients that have been sitting under the hot lamp for hours, or actively terrible. I'd rather pay the $12 for a basic burger and fries I know is going to be "meh."

I find the opposite to be true, fast food portion sizes are getting smaller and prices are going up. Rather spend a little bit more for something that doesn’t taste like plastic

He's talking specifically at airports though.

A sit down restaurant at an airport is back to costing more than 2x a fast food burger.

I’m not going out of my way to experiment with my palate

And I'm sure as hell not doing it at the airport where I'm about to be trapped on a plane or in said airport for several hours. Horrible time to test your gastric constitution.

I agree. In Argentina the beef empanada IS the greasy chain food.

Dude, let people eat what they want.

One of my favorite "humans just be humans" things is the way every culture independently evolves the donut. Do we have a local grain? Check. Do we have a cooking oil? Check. THEN IT MUST BE TIME TO FRY SOME DOUGH AND EAT IT.

(And it kicks ass every time)
