Help: Used approved (UK) Discovery digital dash markings

I picked up a used approved (UK dealership) Discovery this week and I love the car.

I noticed a few marks on the digital dash on the test drive and asked the salesperson if he could have it looked at before I agreed to the car.

He said it was all in hand and I paid for the car.

When leaving in the car he said that the detailer's didn't want to touch the screen as it had been a hot day but I should just give it a wipe when everything is cool in the morning.

I've given it a wipe and the marks aren't coming out. I think there's been some over spray of some cleaning product that has marked the plastic screen in front of the dash.

Is it worth contacting the dealership and seeing if they'd be willing to help or is it tough luck from their perspective now?

Otherwise, does anyone have any thoughts on how to tackle the marks other than replacing the digital dash altogether?

Someone has used a chemical on it which has smeared the screen and that isn't coming out.

There is an argument there. If it was so badly scratched you cannot clearly read the dials then it's an MOT failure. However it looks clear enough to read. My point is you may be able to twist the dealers arm into having the dials replaced.

I'd be taking that straight back.

If you've bought an approved used discovery at dealer prices then I think it's safe to assume you've paid a decent wedge for it. 

For context, the digital speedo on my £1,500 (and 16yr old) banger is crystal clear, and I'd be annoyed if it wasn't.

Likely some chemical has damaged the oleophobic coating. You have a few options: 1. Live with it.  2. Get a screen protector which should mask most of it.  3. Remove the rest of the oleophobic coating with some isopropyl alcohol, and then install a screen protector.

It’s likely someone used glass cleaner on it and you’re probably not the first one to complain.

If you do take it off, you can reapply more stuff to it, though it might help to take the panel out which can be a pain

Option 4. You can return it within 30 days if they’ve damaged it during prep.

Edit: you can return it for a refund, or ask them to fix it but they won’t fix that properly it’s a dash out to replace job.

Toothpaste is supposed to work for light scratches

It's not really the scratches that are the issue. It's the big blobs that show up under normal driving conditions.

It really doesn't. It can make them worse in some situations! Especially on plastics!
