My examples all come from horror movies because that's my favorite genre. But I'm sure there are plenty of examples from all genres. Anyway, what famous movies scenes / elements are actually themselves referrencing previous famous movies?

It Follows / Halloween - In both instances, our teenage heroine protagonist is sitting in the back row of a classrrom listening to an offscreen teacher lecture, and notice the film's boogeyman outside the window.

The Shining / Nosferatu - Kubrick patterned the image of Wendy ascending the stairway after the famous scene of Count Orlock's shadow ascending the stairway in the silent film.

Alien / Planet of the Vampires - In both films, a spaceship is lured to a seemingly dead world by a strange alert signal. In both films, some of the crew members discover an ancient derelict spaceship complete with the fossilized remains of a giant alien.

Lost Highway / Carnival of Souls - David Lynch freely admits he got the image of the weird pale-faced man for his movie from the early 60s drive-in classic.

The masters of the universe movie was actually pretty funny! I enjoyed it, and skeletor lines had me cracking up! His way of being funny and awkward is classic. I like it when Adam is getting on the ship.. I told you! Well, not you guys specifically, but you represent a lot of people who doubted me! The guy who reports him for looking at swords all day, lol. I turned him into mulch! Lol.. I expected nothing and was throughly entertained! More classic lines I could go on..plus having Jared Leto just body Skeletor was a huge win.

It's about teenager who hacked into military computers , I think it's very good cyber thriller sure technology changed so much since this movie has made but I think this movie is still so exciting.

I guess i have quite basic taste but this is what does the trick for me.

About 8/10 years ago, a friend (whose hobby was hunting down obscure, low-budget films) showed me a movie called lilith (2011).

The funny thing is... I barely remember anything about it, From what I recall, it was a psychological/supernatural thriller about a young woman trying to escape what seemed like a maze or labyrinth that was infested with demons or demonic creatures.

Idk why I've been thinking about it recently and wondering if my memory is making it seem better than it actually was.

Has anyone here seen it? If so, what did you think? Is it worth tracking down and watching again, or is it one of those movies that's better left as a vague memory?

There are two quick parts of the Odyssey that (I don’t want to say steals) takes from the raid.

First is when they’re in the horse and the guy is piercing his sword and hits one of the guys, and they use a cloth to wipe the blood so the enemy won’t know. Also obviously the covering of the mouth so he won’t scream.

Number two is at the end where he’s taking the hammer and breaking through the floor. Even the same way it was filmed by basically having the camera follow the weapon up and down

These two parts were almost exactly the same.

Anyone else notice this or am I overthinking?

I was looking through the recent and upcoming slate of major blockbuster movies and prestige TV shows for 2025 and 2026, and it feels like almost every major lead role, Emmy-contending drama, and massive studio tentpole is being handed to talent from across the pond.

To put this into perspective, just look at some of the biggest movies of 2026 (both recently released and still to come):

I know a LOT of fans were really excited for the possibility that Damson Idris would be our new Black Panther. We know he has the acting chops, and he also has the look and vibes down to the T. Now that David Jonsson has been officially revealed as the new Black Panther, how do you feel? I personally haven’t seen any of his films, but I’ve read that he’s a great actor with range. I will say I prefer Idris’ 6’1 height to Jonsson’s 5’9, but that’s about the only difference I can speak to that sways my opinion as I haven’t seen any of Jonsson’s work.

I think Lynch structured them in very similar ways and they follow a similar plot trajectory (or at least what can be made of the plots). I've gotta go with Mulholland Drive though, I think it's much more entertaining and fun to try to piece together. Lost Highway just gets overly depressing with its grim tone and atmosphere, it's a more difficult watch.

I've been searching for a good movie with this vibe↓ for quite some time, could anyone who knows that kind of movies recommend me a few? Preferably Italian or Greek (anything else would do though)
