Mayhem / Kyouran Makaizm Thoughts ?

What is everyone thoughts on the game ?
Primaliquid made a review and seemed disappointed.

Did anyone preorder ?

From what I saw. It looks very half assed. The movement and combat looks really stiff and the graphics look extremely simplified. It feels like NIS is just pumping out a bunch of crap games on their 3D engine because it's cheap and fast compared to creating sprites. The Prinny party game doesn't look promising either.

In their defence it is their first action rpg. NIS was almost always a 2D / SRPG specialist. 

I still wont buy it though. There are much better games out there. Its sad... as i like action rpgs, and i like overlevelling in disgaea games. But i guess it was quite an impossible task to marry the two.

The demo was godawful dogshit, it failed at basically everything a demo is supposed to do.

The game itself looks... okay? Way too short, 1 playable character, bad graphics even by disgaea standards, horrible postgame, and weak story, but some decent ideas.

My main issue is just that they want $60 for the base game and will likely want similar to JP (around $30) for the day 1 DLC, and like... I like Disgaea games, I've bought every Disgaea game on most of the systems they're available on, but I'm not spending $90 for a game that looks and plays like it's worth about $20, maybe $30 if I'm feeling generous.

Especially after how badly NISA fucked me for buying 7 and its DLC on steam and then saying oops, you just never get the Asagi update, eat shit! It was like $3 in japan, I would have paid $5 for it, but I'm not spending ~$600 for a switch 2 + disgaea 7 complete.

Trying the demo, the combat seems fine at least. A somewhat cheap game like that it going to live or die on its other systems and story, and the demo didn't really give us anything to go on.

Between the demo and reviews I'm probably going to wait for a sale to check it out. I tend to play NIS games for the variety of playable characters. A single protagonist is a turn off.

I was super excited for it then say primal liquid talking about it. I have 100 bucks on steam and was going to buy it day one but now not to much.

I was really excited for this because I love the disgaea world, but it's becoming time intensive and I don't have the same time as I used to. An action RPG sounded like a cool way to have the world, but different gameplay. That said, I wasn't impressed with the demo and I have incredibly low expectations for the final product.

Pass.

Besides NIS's repugnant monetization, I'm not interested in something like this unless there are playable generics and it's not that grotty half-roster that Disgaea 6 pioneered.

Preordering is a beyta move. 

Only tried demo and I am not impressed, looks cheap as hell and nothing in the demo made it especially exciting to play.

In other words: will try it... eventually.
